This doesn't mean Shao Kahn plays a part in the game mode, it just means he's not prepared to say whether he does or doesn't, and what that part is. That's all it is. Standard, boilerplate, dev "can't comment at this time" speak. Chalk up any ambiguities in his phrasing to the fact that it was a long evening and he didn't have a PR person with him going over his phrasing.

Shao Kahn might play a role in the story mode. I doubt it, but it's possible. But this isn't confirmation.
 
I enjoyed MKX's comic infinitely more than MKX's story mode. I've only beaten it once, but I've read the comics 3 times
 
I would like a lot more MKX comics if it wasn't by the ridiculous amount of inconsistencies.

It absolutely ruined the mood to me, specially when they tried to get around the fact it lacked communication.

Some characters were way better - like Kotal - some were worse - Erron Black.

But I still like the main idea, BS aside, of what happened, how the Reiko Accords came to be, etc.

I do praise them for calling Kittelsen to be right at their side, so less chances of BS. Vogel and him should work together, that's why I think MK11 will have a pretty good story (more than it's being teased I mean).
 
I doubt Goro will be in MK11 but it's certainly a possibility, and especially if they don't bring back Sheva or (my preference) Kintaro.

It'll be interesting to see which MK3 characters they bring back. There's been a couple of nods towards Stryker, and actually with Kabal confirmed I'm thinking that's possible, but I'd especially like Nightwolf.

I think we can all agree that at least one of the cyborgs is a given, though - NRS got a lot of shit for leaving them out of X.
 
Stryker won’t be playable again, Sheeva neither. Stryker is the weakest trilogy character, Sheeva was supposed to be a playable Goro back then. Nightwolf and Sindel are possible though. I don’t know whether Cyrax AND Sektor will make the cut, but one of them for sure. I think Triborg is a good solution in MKX.
 
Man, I honestly dont care who's in the game. I'm just happy NRS finally realized that the combo system needed to get toned down. Less focus on 50/50s and big damaging combos, more emphasis on neutral and strategy. I can dig it.

That’s probably because if he says WHY Shao Kahn is different in MK11 he’d probably also give away what’s going on in story mode.
Doesn’t mean Shao Kahn is directly involved, but rather that the events in story mode also somehow affected him.
Could be something that’s a slight nod / mention in story mode, but it goes into further detail in the bio for him.
 
I think there is no way Shao Kahn isn’t envolved. He won’t be the Kratos kind of character. People also got Goro after buying MKX later. It’s just a preorder bait.

Since MK11 story is all about time lines Shao Kahn must be part of the story. It is also a problem concerning the roster since any character can come back, dead or not. Just like Baraka. This is why I think that all popular characters will be in MK11 including DLC.
 
I'm not sure how I feel about Shao Kahn being an important part of the story but then being premium DLC. If they wanted to go down that route then I can imagine him being an unlockable character, but to have to pay extra for him when he's involved in story mode would be a really shitty business decision.

Goro and Darkseid were not part of story mode and so were understandable as DLC - they were just cool boss-tier characters. I assume this is what they're doing with Shao Kahn.

The comics were great, no complaints.

I only played through the MKX storyline once too and that's a big deal for me.. I usually play through modes like that quite a bit, it's my favourite feature in a lot of the games I play.

For as good as the "story mode" for MKX was and it definitely has some really cool memorable moments so I'm not taking that away but it was ultimately a massive let down for me, especially compared to MK9. I can't tell you how many times I played through the MK9 story mode.. shit I think I even played the MK vs DC story mode more times than MKX lol and it honestly had way more replayability! For me MKX had the worst story of all the games so far by a long shot!
Please don't take this as trilogy fanboy bs, because the game I look back on most fondly is still MK4 I have so many great memories playing it as a kid.

Partly why I feel this way is because we followed the SF characters and the kombat kids more than any other characters and quite frankly they weren't up to snuff. Now I can deal with Takeda and Kung, they actually weren't too bad in all honesty even though if you see my past comments you'll clearly see I don't want any of the kombat kids in MK11. (I've even went as far as saying; If they were in a kombat pack DLC I hope they are lumped together so I don't have to buy them, I'm that serious lol.)

I just feel that Briggs jr and especially Cassie really sucked the life out of story mode. I don't give a about the Cage family drama or her green aura powers that were a complete Naruto/Fairytail asspull but I'm going to get into how that that little turd shouldn't have been able to defeat an elder god coz I'll be taking up half the page..
Don't get it twisted I like both Sonya, Johnny and Jax even though we desperately need a brake from Jax and the focus on them was overkill in MKX. It was some bold and the beautiful level bullshit with the Cage family. Character progression my ass, it was the worst. Give me some brotherhood of shadow stuff over that garbage any day of the week.

Best story ever. The Outworld civil War with Kotal Kahn, Mileena and Reiko was amazing. I wish so much this story would have been adapted into a game.

This is exactly why I’m thinking he won’t be part of the story, because while I’m getting him for “free” as a pre-order, it’s a shady practice to have him as DLC then be part of the story.
It’s the same reason why the people who didn’t pre-order MKX had as issue with Goro being part of the individual arcade ladder, but having to buy him later.
Unless Shao Kahn just has a few cinematic cut-scenes, then it’ll work.
Otherwise if he has some fights he’ll feel like an on-disc DLC.
 
I think someone else mentioned it here a while ago, but I'm also wondering if Shao Kahn will be the 26th spot along with the "?" box (if there is a "?" box) and not the 25th spot.
Early builds of MKX had 24 spots, initially, with Goro and the "?" box being added to the later build, to make it 25 character slots and 26 in total.

The other reason that I bring it up again is because I remember [MENTION=4889]BBBLP[/MENTION] bringing up (a few pages back) how this later build of MK11 also had more stages than what was shown at the initial MK11 reveal stream.

I am a pretty good MKX online player and the main thing there are the long combos. So will MK11 be more about mix-ups that allow to start a new combo right after the last ends? This is somehow more difficult for me to find out rather than combining attacks.
 
Little bit late to the party on this one, but I'm glad D'Vorah is back. She's weird and creepy, and I think she fits the MK universe well. And while I have no problem with human characters, it's nice to see some variation!
