Mortal Kombat 11 General Discussion Media Thread

Considering this game is all about Kronika trying to restore history to ensure Shinnok's future, I wonder if Shinnok will be in the game as a playable character.

I can see him being an NPC and having Corrupted Shinnok as DLC. We never had Shinnok's demon form playable in MKX (not even as a Living Towers event), so having him playable in MK11 would be cool.

My dream. Raiden is already awesome, for a dream game would be Shinnok being awesome and Onaga too. I doubt Onaga will have anything to do, but I'm digging the idea of Shinonk FINALLY being recognized as the ultimate evil. I hope he's playable, but I doubt he will. I guess he'll be only a head.

But do you know what would be nice? If they actually had to reconnect him to his body as having his presence necessary. Even if he needs to help the good guys, I would cry if in the end he founded Darkness. Johnny Cage has already enough potential to found Light "again", so I wonder what they are waiting.

I do hope he actually has significance to the story. I don't want another MKX Kung Lao.

I don't know if that's possible to do with 26 characters in just ~3 hours though, and still tell a halfway compelling story. I think some characters getting Kung Lao'd is pretty inevitable. It's just a question of who gets that treatment this time around.

I can understand why people might want Kabal specifically to get a chance to shine... but I'm not gonna get my hopes up.

Ok so, now that one is clear. We can ignore him and continue with what matters most.

While I like to sit in online mode a lot, so gameplay part is usually enough for me, I still get what you mean.

MKX actually felt like some sort of advancement from MK9. Online Towers, Adventure mode Krypt, new rage quit penalty system, and just then it comes to details (Gore especially)

MK11 feels like a bloody version of Injustice 2, especially when I look at the victory poses. But I think I can live with that. What matters is the additional content. Modes, Krypt, Towers, etc.

Online for me is not that important anymore. Simply don't have the time for it. Maybe few casual games just to laugh my head off but that's it. More interested in SP as I can just play the game at my own pace, and obviously the replayability is an important factor.

By the way, I think I start to see your point regarding the boring character designs and realms. Skarlet's primary can be easily be given to Sonya or Cassie and they'll still look exactly like an ISIS suicide bomber. Spoiled Kitana looks like a cosplayer from Earthrealm too. The only one who looks alien is Rain because who the hell is going to wear THAT? I think that's the problem. They are playing way too safe. Edenians are fcking 10,000 yo aliens and is known for its "beauty". Outworld is a barren wasteland, so far only Baraka and Shao Kahn represent it correclty. We need someone like Havik ffs, guy just screams Chaosrealm.

Their (NRS') obsession with having Scorpion on everything is vomit-inducing, and I probably would have gone with the physical edition if there was another option to have literally anything else / anyone else on the cover.

The Premium Edition is just the black steelbook case and the dragon logo isn't it?

Edit:
Actually not sure if you get the steelbok case or not but it's defnitely just black backgtound, gold dragon and MORTAL KOMBAT 11

This thought just came to me concerning select screen and the roster size. I guess it is sure to think that in the end there will be more than 25 slots for characters since they went for the diamond form. You can easily add more. Also Geras is alone down there but there is no character slot that is single above. So I wouldn’t stick to what we‘ve seen.

After all the predictions the chances for some of the characters are pretty low with the seen roster size. I can’t imagine them bringing back Baraka after his death in MKX without bringing back such a fan favorite like Mileena. With this time bending stuff death doesn’t mean anything actually. Wouldn’t write off Quan Chi either.

I also think that the time of 7 games that continue one story is over. This won’t happen anymore. And it seems to be a game with a lot classic characters. And some of you won’t like it but they are the face of MK and since 80% of 3D era is trash I am fine with that. I would like to see Fujin, Reiko and Havik though. Fujin is definitely going to be in, I am sure this time around. He should have been already in MKX.

Shinnok looked very, very NPC in that trailer. He looked about on a par with Fujin's render in the MKX intro. He isn't going to be playable, and he has no head.

He looked infinitely better than Fujin's render in MKX. But he did look worse than Raiden, similar to how MKX Fujin looked worse than MKX Raiden. Maybe that's what you meant to say?

As for having no head, that's like saying "Shinnok can't be playable in MKX because he's locked in the Netherrealm." They can figure that shit out in the story. Just get some super glue and problem solved.

I don't think he makes the launch roster. But I wouldn't be terribly surprised to see him as DLC.

Pretty much the reason why I also mainly played more SP as of Injustice 2.

As for Shinnok, nah, I don’t want to see him on the roster for MK11.
I’m glad that Cassie is in (seemingly), and I hope that a few more debuts from X make it, but I also hope that we get 2 or 3 from the 3D era.

Think it’s going to be Fujin, Kenshi and Havik including all DLC.

Regardless if he's DLC or not, I do believe that Fujin is going to make it in. His groundswell of support is well known at this point that Boon even jokes about it, and given how IJ2 added characters that were highly requested from the previous game (like Canary and Swamp Thing) I feel like this game is his best chance he's gotten in a while.

You see, that's the problem with not having your Lore being properly established. Their lore is like a Pirate Code. "Something more of the Guidelines"

If they just made someone a "Lore guy" and let them create entire structure, we would have a completely different story. Characters would have defined features and outfits to represent their origins. Instead of the artistic mess MK11 is right now. Right now someone has to come and tell me who is from where, because everyone looks the same. Except Baraka. GERAS looks like a robot to begin with. I can think of him as Earthrealm resident who uses... wait for it... NANOMACHINES, SON!

Geras I feel is fine as his aesthetic does match up with Kronika's atleast so you can tell they are of the same stuff, if she has blue blood like he does I guess you could also throw that in as a defining physical trait (if they are even from a specific realm, who knows they could be in a pocket dimension or something). And I'll admit I feel like the "everyone looks the same" comment doesn't really make sense, especially when you have a fangled tooth cannibal on the same roster as a military general.

Wait, so why hasn't the front page of this site been updated in like 4 years lol

The guy that runs the website, said that right now, all he can do is just run the website. I think the guy is really busy and doesn't have proper team for this.

Yeah that's the problem. We have one character that really stands out. Because his face is completely different. Tell me what's the difference between Sonya or Skarlet? They both look like they are from Earthrealm. Sub Zeo and Scorpion start looking like they belong in the same clan. Raiden is basically... an armored Shaolin monk.

I dunno, visually I wouldn't look at Skarlet and say "that's a normal human that I could see being around" like I could Sonya, especially when she starts using magic to pull blood out of people's eyes. Raiden is a god that takes on a mortal appearance that works closely with the monks so yeah. You could literally say Scorpion and Sub-zero are from the same clan from MK1, heck I feel like now more than ever there visual designs are differentiated as Subby is rocking a more Chinese influenced outfit while Scorp moves closer to a hooded japanese ninja look. Like I'm I just really don't see your argument here.

Btw guys... this is actually pretty much on topic. With EPIC Games buying games from under the nose of Steam... do you think MK11 is next?
