How would you all feel if in MK11 Kitana, Mileena and Jade went back to their old aesthetics and wore revealing costumes a la MK9 (as in thongs, cleavage revealing tops and high heels) while other females like Cassie, Sonya and Jacqui continued to dress modestly?

I've said it before, but I think the skimpy outfits suit the Female Ninja Trinity better than the toned down MKX aesthetic.

Honestly, I like the way the women look in MKX. It was obvious that NRS knew the bigger breasted scantily clad MK women of the past wouldn't fit the aesthetic of this new game. Maybe add more of an 'Outworld' feel to the military women next time (Sonya, Cassie, Jacqui). Their designs seemed inconsistent compared to every other fighter.
The only thing that really bothered me in MKX (clothing wise) was that most of the females' necks were covered. I wasn't sure as to why that was the decision for many of the outfits.
Also, please NRS...please...work on your hair physics :whine:

If it fits within the context of the game's story or a character, sure, but not for the sake of it, as it has pretty much always been in Mortal Kombat and (fighting) games alike. I love the designs of the female characters in MKX because, surprise, not all women dress for the male gaze and they, overall, actually look ready to fight.

I mean, compare MK9 Sonya to MKX Sonya. I really shouldn't have to say more.

To me, it's not so much about how revealing or covered up a character is, but how you do it. Stitches aside, I like Mileena's primary costume. Kitana's primary was too busy with awkward-looking cut/shape all around; but most of her past costumes were outright boring.

The special forces characters were so predictable... honestly they could fit in some random shooter. It's a shame considering some of the concept art that was produced.

I'm not voting on the poll, because it seems to suggest that you either have be for or against revealing costumes, when I am okay with both.

It was ok for MK9 since that was a sort of joke game for fans. Any game afterwards is unacceptable (unless they're making a Dead or Alive Crossover). I think Ferra should be the ONLY character to get away with this. Others should not.

(Before you all ask about the Ferra comment, I'm talking about the current costume she has now).

Women should only get revealing outfits if the guys also do.

I like sexualized outfits, but the frequent lack of equality always spoil them a bit.

I hope that the outfits stay less revealing for the remaining MK games that come out.
The dark and gritty outfits fit the feel of MK better (IMO, and they should leave that skimpy stuff to DOA.
I want people to start taking MK seriously again as a Tournament fighter, unlike DOA, just like MK was taken seriously with MK3 and UMK3.
The MKX gameplay and variations, Sub-Zero Blue Steel cash going towards the pot and less skimpy outfits seem to be the right way to go about doing that.

I don't see what would be wrong with making skimpy outfits (for both genders) alts that, you know, are optional and all.

And you want people to take MK seriously? Seriously? Are you that insecure that you need people to respect your favorite VG series to feel better about yourself?

How glad I am that I don't give a damn about respectability.

Got off your f***ing high-horse, man.

If you want skimpy outfits, good for you.
You don't see me here shit-talking and down-playing your personal opinions, though, but this is the Internet, so the Internet tough-guys like you come out of the woodwork.
I don't see how me wanting people respect MK again = personal insecurity, but it seems like you're just reflecting some personal issues that you have if you want attention seeking costumes in the game, because you have personal attention and acceptance issues.
Did daddy and mommy not give you enough attention as a child?

MK9 was the first game in a long time that was taken any notice as a tourney-worthy fighting game, in spite of the skimpiest outfits ever.

I just want outfits that NRS deems appropriate enough. Without the influence of potential backlash and pandering to an agenda.

Agreed FlawlessVictor.
That said, MKX continued from that and made the gameplay a better version of MK9's with 3 variations of each character, mixed with a quicker speed from Injustice and better, darker-toned more serious costumes (IMO) and people responded to it.

man do you know how much shit talk mk games were getting during the mkda - mk vs dcu days? people would think that its funny that you play mk. they would say "you actually play that game?" stuff like that. I remember when deception was out and I was at work and there was like 15 of us there and I was the ONLY one that liked mk more than sf and I was really into mk at the time mostly for the conquest mode. it was a rather dark period for mk games. tournament players wouldn't take mk seriously either. now that 2 good mk games have been released that's all changing. PEOPLE ARE TAKING MK MORE SERIOUSLY NOW because of mk9 and mkx. nobody is being insecure, its a fact.

and about the revealing outfits, its ok if it makes sense. it cant be an all or none thing.

There were plenty of tournaments for Dead or Alive 5, I remember watching them on Twitch streams pretty frequently. The gameplay is great, I enjoy it more than all other 3D fighters. The women are just the face of the series, as the gameplay is still competitive. Just throwing that out there.

I voted no, primarily because I think female fighters can be taken somewhat more seriously when they don't look like porn stars. Also, NRS are attempting (and succeeding) in giving them a little more personality and backstory.

Aesthetically, MKX > MK9, in every way. Everyone looks and sounds better, especially Johnny Cage and all of the females.

I know that, but my point is:
Were any of these DOA "Tournaments" as big as MK9, Injustice, MKX, Street Fighter or Smash Brothers?
Nope.
A combination of MK9, Injustice and MKX put MK back on the map, and last I checked, 2 of those 3 games (Injustice and MKX) had female characters with less revealing outfits.
It appears that after MK9, NRS started taking themselves more seriously and ditched the skimpy outfits to take on a more serious and darker tone, and MKX is better for it.

I'd hate it. MK9 costumes for the females were complete shite. MKX costumes weren't much better, but they weren't an eyesore.

I'll give Mileena a pass for skimpy clothing, but not a thong and high heels. Give me a damn break.
