Are they better than Real Madrid, Barcelona, Bayern, Juve, Chelsea?

Are the New England patriots even close to the worldwide popularity of United? Or any of the teams?

America is a melting pot of the world's cultures and specifically bred athletes, don't boast or claim superiority, YOU'RE SUPPOSED TO BE THE BEST AT EVERYTHING.....

Popularity doesn't win championships, winning on the field does. If popularity won championships, then the Denver Broncos would've won each of the last 4 Super Bowls.

Juve have won their league (4th time in a row) and reached the CL final

Bayern & Chelsea won their leagues

Madrid won the CL & league last season

And Barcelona have won their league & I believe domestic cup and are on their way to a treble if win the final of the CL

Manchester United have crumbled since the loss of one of the greatest sports managers of all time.....

Couldn't care less about soccer Cage and Capoeira Kang with the ZOMG GREEN AND YELLOW BRAZIL11!! colors. Meh.

I dig the themed skins. I really hope they do more but spread them out and give some to other characters.

It would be cool to see a Cenobite-themed Quan Chi (I'm a huge fan of the Hellraiser series).

You're right. American football is serious business played amongst men. Not a bunch of sissies and panzies flopping any time someone breathes on them and then writhing in agony harder than a 2 yr old throwing a temper tantrum.

Only US citizen cares about American football and baseball, the rest of the world don´t give a tiny rats ass about this, so called "sport". That´s why NFL treats superbowl as world championship.

Only the NFL, NBA, MLB, and NHL championships are World Champions. Only the Big Four count.

Only reason soccer is the most popular sport In the world is because it's the cheapest sport to play. Much of the world lives in poverty, and all one needs is a ball and an improvised goal. It is more accessible. That's what it boils down to. It actually is a beautiful game when it's played by actual athletes, played like it's meant to be played, and not by a bunch of actors who spend half their time falling down trying to get a free kick.

To say football isn't a sport and that it's " just a bunch of guys hitting eachother", just goes to show some people don't even know what they're talking about.

This whole argument started when some smart guy wanted to pull some soccer teams out of a hat and suggest that they were "better" teams than the Patriots because they're more "popular". Too bad winning championships isn't a popularity contest. If that were the case, all us football fans would be talking about the scumbag Cowboys.


Then someone suggested that it's not a world championship because it's only played in the U.S... Well, when there's nobody else to play, and that team is the last team standing victorious, they are world champions in their respective sport. The English Premier League only plays in the U.K...Last I checked, the U.S. is much bigger than the United Kingdom. But I'm not gonna be as ignorant as some people and suggest that Man U. and whatever other teams have been champions actually never were.

You are - somewhat ironically - moving the goalposts of this bizarrely off-topic argument.

The Premier League is the UK's national league for association football, not a world championship, which would be the FIFA World Cup. American football has the NFL as a national league in the US, and the IFAF as a world championship, which is of course played by far fewer nations than the FIFA World Cup simply because 'soccer' is much more popular around the world. Whilst American football is played in various countries around the world, it is generally limited in terms of high popularity to North America.

Compare the Premier League to the NFL, which are both national leagues. If you want to compare international world championships, then the World Cup and the IFAF league would be better examples... but IFAF is quite a recent thing and only a handful of national teams take part.

You might be right about football being popular because it's something with relatively simple rules, very basic equipment and suchlike... but it also has the advantages of having been around for hundreds of years (in some form or another... association rules football is a more modern version) and having very strong local club traditions all over the world, whereas American football is much more an American cultural phenomenon, and - along with baseball - seems to be declining in popularity AFAIK. Basketball seems to be more popular nowadays, and it's been that way for a few years now.
