I kinda do too. Sub-Zero is my main main... but for mains... well... I think there are too many good characters with too good gameplay.

I really like Cassie, D'Vorah, Jacqui, Kitana and Sonya. All women LOL. But fact is they play well. From the guys, gameplay-wise, I'm liking only (apart from SZ) Raiden and Shinnok, partially Scorpion and Johnny.

Still, picking from so many...

I do appreciate the inclusion of a black female character simply because it's something that's rarely seen in video games.....which is strange. However, they could've done a better job constructing her. She brings nothing new to the franchise other than her skin color. If she is just here to play the token black chick then no, I don't want her. Make her an important character. That's been my criticism from day 1.
 
Reptile still has no role other than hunchman #1 same with Kano - LOL
But we can pretend that Jacqui's the only character that lacks in development . OK!
I'm not stating that Jacqui is the most creatively design character ever - I am saying , she is unique for the reason stated and that she is no more underdeveloped than several other major character in this series yet No one has issues with that.

Actually, I felt that Ermac, Kano and Reptile weren't needed at all because they essentially fulfilled the same role. They should've been NPCs, IMO. D'vorah and Erron were more interesting henchman.

The truth is Jacqui is nothing more than Cassie's sidekick. I hate that.
 
I do agree that Jacqui, like Jade before her, suffers from being the "black best friend". I'm hopeful the next game will give her more of a story unto herself.
 
My only point was that people are quick to point out the generic nature of Jacqui's outfit( iMO she's no different than Johnny or Lui who wore variations of sweats, a headband and or tights for many games.)
Then people(like you) states that she's just a side kick, newsflash not every character can be the hero. She has in 1 game as much development as characters like reptile and kano in 5 games. That was my point.
BTW i like all the characters mentioned.

Also when watching story mode, i thought why is Kitana in MKX again? And i love Kitana.

i'm not saying Jacqui can't use work on her design she could, but so can many others. Personally i thought NRS chose the most generic design out of the one we saw in the concept art.

I think she's cute and funny. She's the brains of this new team, and she seems to be the one who keeps the others grounded. I think her taunts are hilarious. Her romance with Takeda is cute. I like her backstory as a daddy's girl who rebelled because she knew protecting Earth was the right thing to do. Her playstyle is super fun and the gauntlets are a nice nod to Jax without playing anything like him. While she doesn't get a flashback, I thought her story mode chapter was very revealing in that she was sort of the caretaker of the team, and I loved how she held her own against Kotal's forces.

Again, Jacqui isn't the only character who I felt was poorly design. Johnny Cage's default is easily the worst he's ever looked. He's too old to be dressing in baggy clothes. He looks like a rave DJ.

Jacqui's alt is the most unimaginative costume in the game. No creativity whatsoever. They just took her shirt off.
 
Jacqui's concept art look is superior no doubt. But not sure how it'd fit in with the rest. Hopefully DLC.
 
They should have given Johnny cage straightlegged pants with some boots or somethin..he does have the worse default in the game..ninja mime is a nice joke but he honestly only has two costumes I enjoy using .I bet his concept art looks better than what they went with.

I don't hate Jacqui, I just find her so incredibly boring and generic looking and nothing about her gameplay appeals to me. It's cool that there are some people who like her, but I prefer the more "fantastic" characters. I guess that's why I like the Edenians.
 
So far my mains are Jacqui, Torr, Sub-Zero and Kotal Kahn.
And I'm starting to get the feeling I want to learn Quan Chi.

yes i agree, i didn't mention them because I'm indifferent to them. They all served no purpose in the story

Yeah, I guess all those people missed the part where they all died in the last game.

NRS chooses fan service over sticking to their guns.
