Official Friday March 27th Kombat Kast Diskussion Thread

I'm in love with everything about Shinnok. The variation where his arms are skeletal is HILARIOUS! I really wanna see him back hand someone in his X-ray with them.

The maleficent feel fits him flawlessly... The clownish colors and head piece just fit one another so well. Can't wait to see the samurai skin in-game.

three cool things I noticed when rewatching...

1. Liu sporting the awesome Mike Tyson tattoo in his first variation
2. Shinnoks Necromancer variation should be renamed "Badass Super Smash Brothers Boss"
3. Is Erron's x-ray a nod towards the JFK magic-bullet theory? didn't it "supposedly" hit someone's hip, shoulder, and head in real life? (heavy emphasis on the 'supposedly' part)

Yes, supposedly, by Warren Comission, the first shot hit Kennedy on his back, hitting no bones, came out of the throat, hit Connally on his arm, on his wrist and then on his leg. That's what people called the magic bullet, becuase they didn't count that Conally was sitting a little to the left and a little lower than JFK.

Anyway, they reported they had the bullet after falling on the hospital, when the doctor obviously said that it was still on Connally's leg, record accessible to anyone to be seen. You know, too many BS on that report. But I won't start it here

Definitely agree with this! Shinnok is looking immense, and is definitely one of my favourites so far. :)

I got a response!!! :D

Awesome stream! Only Shinnok's look is too jester like. Also Erron getting Baraka's blade? Baraka would fit MKX the most! :( @DylanTSnyder

@OTBrewery Thanks a bunch! And hey, that's what alternate costumes are for ;) And that may or may NOT be Baraka's arm :D

do u think thats a hint that Baraka might be in the game? I hope he is. He would def. fit the MKX world

Is WBID not the same as WBplay? I remember setting up a WBID for Injustice. Will that work?
How did it work, though? For skins, did you have to add a code you received by e-mail manually in the game, or was it done automatically by linking accounts? I'm using a different address than my XB1 account so I am unsure.

Just throwing this out, but Erron came across as the most badass MK character to debut in.... Jesus, I want to say since Deception but I'd take him over Kenshi. The dude has personalized bullets, shoots a coin for a deflection, and uses his former enemies dismembered limbs as weapons. Jesus.

It's been a long time since I set it up. But I'm using the same email with my XB1 and WB. So they seemed to have automatically connected. I went to visit the website and it had me logged in from years ago haha cool....

I'm assuming it works like UPlay, when you get MKX, a screen will pop up that will tell you to put your WBID, (email and password), then it'll link your account that way.

Any potential Konquest/Shaolin Monks stand alone style game in the MK universe in the future should flesh out Erron Black's story, regardless of how he plays or what you think about the character, a game with a bounty hunter in Outworld? With MK level easter eggs!?

Well, I'm surprised they actually showed both Liu and Shinnok. This doesn't rule them out as candidates for the unlockable character, but if they are, it's incredibly pointless to show them before release. May as well have them all unlocked for the sake of tournaments.

Sub-Zero's 2nd fatality, Tron Raiden and Kano's alt were all nice.

Shinnok looked good. I'm not a fan of the costume they showed (is it his primary?), but the others look great, so I'm not complaining. Sad that they showed him off in Practice; I would have liked to see some of his intros to hear his voice.

Liu Kang was as boring as always. I can tell they really struggled with making three distinct variations for him (same with Johnny and Reptile).

All of the new options in Practice mode are fantastic. Really excited to spend a lot of time in the lab this time around.

And, last but not least, Erron Black did not disappoint. His moves have a cool flair to them, but are not overstylized. The voice and dialogue is top-notch. Variations are all really cool. Gunslinger and Marksman are the ones I'll be using.

I really prefer Shinnok's outfit from my sig.

Anyway, on the SOAD trailer, you can see him approaching the Jinsei with the outfit we have seen today.

That means one of two things.

Or this outfit from today is the primary and they have shown everything with different costumes or...

Shinnok will comeback, after the imprisionment, with today's outfit once again on the Jinsei to poison Earhtrrealm's life and start his dominance.

I'm a little late to comment on this stream, but here we go:

I like Erron Black, but looking at his gameplay, I doubt he is someone who I would play beyond just casual/friend play. He's essentially a, Eastwood/Wayne hybrid.

Liu Kang looks and feels like Liu Kang. He's incredibly fast, but he's also going to remain the default player for new people given how easy it is to button mash him.

Now, Shinnok. I have to say, I hate him. In fact, this is the first character I've actively disliked so far in MKX. Keeping in mind that I have no experience with anything past MK3, but he appears to me like a poor man's Quan Chi (even though I realize in lore he's supposedly more powerful). Overall, I'm really disappointed with him, and he is in comfortable place on the bottom of my play list. I'll probably never touch him.

Overall, I'm a bit disappointed with this batch, though Erron Black makes it somewhat bearable.

As of right now, just based on watching the gameplay, here's how my interest list is shaking out:

1) Mileena (main)
2) Kung Lao (main)
3) Kitana (competitive)
4) Takeda (competitive)
5) Reptile (casual/fun)
6) D'vorah (casual/fun)
7) Erron Black (casual/fun)
8) Scorpion (casual/fun)
9) Cassie Cage (casual/fun)
10) Johnny Cage (casual/fun)
11) Raiden (single player/practice)
12) Kotal Kahn (single player/practice)
13) Ermac (single player/practice)
14) Sub Zero (single player/practice)
15) Liu Kang (single player/practice)
16) Kung Jin (single player/practice)
17) Quan Chi (single player/practice)
18) Kano (single player/practice)
19) Ferra/Torr (single player/practice)

20) Shinnok (will never touch)

We will see how the final five shake out. Of course, much of this will change as I get to actually use the characters.

Did I miss any earlier rage or am I the only one who HATES the variation visual for Necromancer Shinnok?

Skeleton arms? Give him a skull somewhere on his gear and call it a day. I REALLY hope visual variation aids can be disabled. Meh.

I wanted to watch the stream a few times before I shared my thoughts...

LIU KANG- He bored me a bit. Only variation that sparked my interest was Duelist. The light and dark stances are pretty awesome. I do like Liu Kang's new attitude though. Much needed change for such a squeaky clean good guy.

SHINNOK- Looks pretty good actually. Could have used a couple more special moves but his variation specials made up for that for the most part. His X-ray is great. Only thing that bothered me was how Skeleton hands looked in his Necromancer variation. For some reason I don't like how they look. Maybe they don't look "dark" or "real" enough. Is it just me? Someone say something haha. Also I didn't like how they completely skipped out on his intros! LAME!

ERRON BLACK- The man of the hour. The one with the most hype coming into today's stream. His voice actor is great and his movements and mannerisms are on point and totally give off this "I'm a badass" kind of vibe. I like it! My only concern is he reminds me too much like Deathstroke in terms of how many times he uses his guns. He's a bit too "shooty" for my liking. I know he's a cowboy/bounty hunter. So what else would he be doing? Right you are fake person with rebuttal but they could of had at least one variation with a little less shooting. Outlaw could have been just that but I kinda felt like they dropped the ball with that one. Overall he should be a fun addition to the MK roster.

I loved this stream today it was perfect for the last 2 weeks. Erron looked amazing, Liu Kang looked pretty good, Shinnok looked perfect EXCEPT FOR THOSE DAMN SKELETON ARMS! Seriously who thought that was a good idea? At least it's only on him when your using Necromancer and not his main outfit.
