No, and certainly not nowadays. As has been suggested already, it's likely the game went gold this week and has been sent off for pressing and distribution, and there'll be a day-one patch at launch.

MK9 went gold around late March from what I can remember. No surprise here which is good meaning that the game is finished.

Shaun Himmerick tweeted about a week ago that they submitted the game. I'm not a studio head, so I don't know exactly what that means but either it was submitted for a final check (for the ESRB to rate it or for the Studio to accept it as final) or it was finished. Games going gold about a month before release. Than they multiple copies and ship them to retailers/critics.

Same, the leak from the MK9 demo was the best thing that happened for the lead up to release for that game.
I don't want complete story spoilers, but I'd like to know the full roster, as well as story chapters.

I don't even want story spoilers, but I do wan't someone to leak that final MKX roster, probably with 2 blank spaces for the 2 unlockable characters. :-D

If Shaun H. said last week that they submitted the game, then he probably meant for QA. I don't know whether NRS have internal QA or they outsource to another firm (it differs between development studios) but if he said this last week then it's possible they submitted it either then or the week before, and then it could have gone gold today -- meaning that the final copy of the game had passed QA and been greenlit by NRS and WB.

Lol I remember one Brazilian show-off that got MK9 early subsequently got arrested or charged or fined, I can't remember which exactly.

It was the guy who mentioned human versions of Sektor and Cyrax plus Cyber Sub-Zero (if I'm not mistaken). And I even remember something along the lines of it being debunked, even though it was legit. There was a thread about it, I saw it the other day, coincidentally.
Oh, I don't mind knowing the final number of characters. I just hope that I don't get the entire story spoiled before I play the game - and that includes the final boss and any surprise unlockable character. As much as I have my suspicions about who's who, I hope that I'm able to play the game and find out myself.
As long as there are no threads with "(character name in caps) IS THE FINAL BOSS ZOMG" as title, it'll be fine.

They submit final code to MS and Sony for certification. Once it passes certification it goes gold and is cleared for production and is considered finished.
