Which faction will you join?

Either Brotherhood of Shadows or Special Forces, not too sure yet.

Brotherhood of Shadows, Lin Kuei or White Lotus!

Brotherhood of Shadows because that's where wifey resides.

Lin Kuei or Brotherhood of Shadows

dafuq Im going Brotherhood Of Shadows, I opened this thread expecting Lin kuei Lin Kuei Lin Keui Lin Kuei etc etc damn, its going to be crowded in BOS then lol

I will go with the brotherhood of shadows

All of you earthrrealmers joining the Brotherhood of Shadows shall pay for such treason to your realm.

Im now having a hard time deciding between Black Dragon and Brotherhood of Shadows

It's called Brotherhood of Shadow. :p

I hope there are some cool ranks like "Lin Kuei apprentice", "Lin Kuei assassin", "Lin Kuei Grandmaster".

Wow, two committed Black Dragon joiners in 3 pages' worth of responses.

I wonder if it has anything to do with the fact that Kano is the only Black Dragon member in the game? If only someone could have foreseen people joining factions based on which characters are in those factions.

I'm only doing it so I don't have to go back to Black Dragon ever again once I get the full rank reward for ranking up ALL factions.

My true final stop is White Lotus.

Yep. At first everyone will play around and level all (or a bunch) of them up, but eventually you gotta settle with one or the other, and it's becoming absurdly clear that NRS is going to have to work some voodoo if they want anything remotely resembling equal numbers in MP factions.

I've been wondering about that myself. Shit, what's stopping all of TRMK from joining the same faction and dominating the competition?

All of TRMK? That number is so minuscule.

But has NRS talked about what measures they have against everyone joining one faction?

They really should have done Shira Ryu in stead of Black Dragon. Only Kano fans will want to be in Black Dragon. Although maybe the Erron Black fans will herd themselves into the Black Dragon if he continues to be affiliated with them.

I think everyone and their Mom would join the Shirai Ryu if it were selectable.

One thing that really makes me doubt the currently 'confirmed' roster of 24 is the fact we have a Lin Kuei faction in the game, and yet apparently only one playable member of the Lin Kuei: Sub-Zero. Is this really that likely? Seems like it would be a pretty big oversight.

? = possible MKX character

The White Lotus have Raiden, Kung Lao, Liu Kang (good/human, ?), Fujin (?)
The Special Forces have loads of people: Jax, Jacqui, Johnny Cage, Cassie Cage, Sonya Blade, Kenshi, Takeda, Kung Jin (more?)
The Black Dragon have: Kano, Erron Black, Tremor (?)
The Brotherhood of the Shadow have Shinnok, Quan Chi, Scorpion (de facto), Reiko (?), Tanya (?)
The Lin Kuei have: Sub-Zero. But that's it... if we're assuming Sektor, Cyrax, Frost and Smoke are all NPCs.

There can also be plenty of NPCs who form part of these factions during story mode, but obviously won't be playable.

They did.
Hence why there's an achievement / trophy for joining every single faction, and there's also another achievement / trophy for reaching level 50 in each faction.
The people who really want to platinum MKX will spend a considerable amount of time in each faction, not just 1, to get to level 50 in said faction.
Once people have gotten to level 50 in all factions and gotten that trophy / achievement, then we will see where the real faction loyalty lies.

After months and months on pondering on my decision, as April draws near, I finally reached my final decision and my choice of faction will be, but out of reluctance:

Er, I'm not sure you understand the problem or my implication.

The problem is that as with any game, plenty of people will give zero shits about trophy hunting, and they'll go straight to their favorite faction. And if this thread is any indication, that will lead to very imbalanced numbers among factions.

The implication is that I called this happening months ago and I'm a little bit very surprised that NRS seems to have not called this months ago. We'll have to wait and see what tricks they came up with for dealing with faction size imbalance. Punishing players for switching factions does the opposite of that.

I got your point very clearly.

People are trophy whores, maybe not the hardcore MK fans, but the casual fans who go trophy hunting DO indeed care.
This thread (and this forum, for that matter) only makes up a small number of fans compared to the tons of causals who don't spend 1 day on an MK forum, and will jump from faction to faction to get level up in each of those factions and get those trophies.

Also, you're forgetting or maybe just not seeing the fact that if there are 15 people in the Lin Kuei and 10 people in the Black Dragon, but the majority of Black Dragon members are getting wins and the Lin Kuei members are getting their butts handed to them, then the menus have a great chance at being Black Dragon related for that day.
Not everyone in a given faction will be an A-rated player.
The punishment for leaving a faction for another faction is losing faction XP points, but people who trophy hunt (which are quite a few of the casual market) won't care, as long as it means that getting 50 XP points in each individual faction counts towards getting the 50 points in all factions trophy.
Hence why I said:
Once people have gotten to level 50 in all factions and gotten that trophy / achievement, then we will see where the real faction loyalty lies.

NRS aren't just going to go "Welp, you're the 50,001st person to want to the Lin Kuei, but you can't because our cap is 50,000."
I'm pretty sure that they'd have a lot of pissed off people if they did that.
