liu kang role?

And if Liu Kang managed to beat Shao Kahn, then fast forward a couple of years and the universe explodes again. Raiden stopped Shao Kahn from winning everything forever. Even if that takes 50 good guys' deaths, it's still worth it.

The Elder Gods came down and gave Raiden the power to beat Kahn for good. Why couldn't they do it for Liu Kang?

Because they only did that as a response to Shao Kahn merging the realms without winning MK. If Kahn had beaten Liu Kang in MK, then that means he didn't transgress, and so Raiden doesn't get a power-up to help bring Shao Kahn to justice.

But the real reason is they're dumb and do whatever the plot needs them to do.

What does fighting Shao Kahn's minions have to do with winning the tournament?

quan chi came up with the idea that shao kha should start another tournament which would decide the fate of earthrealm once and for all without any tournaments following it. his role was to host it not to participate in it. he won just sayin

Shang Tsung was the host of the MK1 tournament, and he participated just fine.

Anyway it's not like the tourneys make any sense to begin with.

I think you don't get what I mean here. Wait here watch this link here and you'll get it.

PS: start at 06:30

1. Champions are immortal, not invincible. A champion can still get killed by a dude, he just doesn't age.

2. Shang Tsung pulled the exact same stunt in MK1/Shaolin Monks, he wasn't supposed to fight at all but did.

3. Nothing in the scene actually states that Kintaro is the final challenge of the tournament. Kung Lao assumes that defeating Tsung/Quan Chi is the end of the tournament, but is then informed otherwise. It's possible that he simply assumed incorrectly again, and Shao Kahn... corrected him.

I think that answers your original question.

Apart from that, MK tournament rules don't make any sense anyway, as the only consistently enforced rule seems to be that if you've been defeated then you can't participate in that tournament again. There's no round robin system (everyone fights 4 opponents in a row), not everyone who enters actually gets defeated (Sonya in MK9-1), people can enter midway through a tournament (Sub-Zero in MK9-2), people can change sides midway through a tournament (Scorpion in MK9-1), it's just complete and utter chaos.

I didn't say that he is invincible I just wanted to make clear that this isn't the case to the guy who assumed that would be the case actually. And yeah the tournament system is bullcrap but the key part is: earthrealm always fights outworld to protect itself and outworld always fights to conquer earthrealm ( at least under shao khans rule). erthrealm never even tried to conquer outworld, but this time at least they started a civil war which will change their system entirely ( if ed boon doesn't bring back shao khan or introduces onaga )

Agreed in the original timeline he was undisputed champ mk1-4 then after he was killed had his soul absorbed immediately. . Second timeline he only won 2 so He still is mk champ so as far as that goes he could be introduced as a 24 yr monk around Cassies time since he should be still immortal .... if Onaga is reintroduced he better be in Liu Kangs body

Onaga didn't possess Reptile's body by chance. He possessed his body because it was meant to be that way.

The Dragon King is indeed some sort of reptilian race, his real body proves that.

I hope not. If onaga uses liu kang's body, that would be a waste of an amazing character and maybe an anti-hero (besides scorpion in mkx). I think by immortality netherealm studios means that you will be remembered forever. Like immortality in minds so to speak. And I assume that Liu Kang will be a rogue Elder God, which will take action instead of waiting for miracles to happen by chance. With rogue I mean free from rules and restrictions. Hell he may even fights the elder gods and becomes their supreme lord or something, that would be cool. If not an elder god, well assuming he survived raiden's attack, he may recovered from his wounds with the help of a character may not even be introduced yet. Assuming he died, he will 100% get resurrected at the end of the netherealm war and will built a different faction with kung lao, Kitana, sub-zero. well those are my assumptions.

any dragon is a reptile in some way, since the idea of a dragon origined from a snake in the beginning of the mythology of the dragons.
