Roster Speculation

Returning characters so far:

1. Scorpion
2. Sub-Zero
3. Raiden
4. Kano
5. Quan Chi
6. Kung Lao
7. Kitana
8. Reptile
9. Ermac

If we have 28 characters in the game similar to MK9 then we should have 14 returning characters and 14 news ones.
 
With new light shed on the Roster with Lui, Johnny, and Sonya pretty much in. I'm gonna just guess the next 3 of 8 new characters.

-Takeda
-Forest Fox (They still hadn't shown his concept art version)
-Erron Black

I'm still not 100% sold on Jacqui's inclusion yet.
Kung Jin and the bo rai cho relative still hold no merit to me.

How are Liu, Johnny, and Sonya "pretty much in"? Liu Kang has a very good chance, but the other two I think could go either way.

If you're talking about the white ninja concept art, that was just concept art for generic members of the Shirai Ryu. Kittelsen confirmed this, and the file name for that art just being "shirairyu" backs that up.

We've already got 3 of the "henchmen" characters of MK9 that stayed alive, Kano, Reptile & Ermac. There are still Mileena, Cyrax, Sektor, Baraka & Sheeva from that group, I guess we can still expect Mileena & Sektor to appear at least.

Mileena is no longer a henchwoman in MKX. She has a far more important role.
 
At this point we must accept that NRS' policy is to reveal all the returning kombatants first. I don't really mind that, it's interesting to see the little twist they update the old favs with. But this week's reveals were a bit underwhelming for me. I have never really been a Kano or Raiden player but their variations won me over in an instant. Can't say that about Ermac and Reptile was uninspiring but we didn't see all of his moves.

At this point I also think that we will get more than 24 kharacters so 2 out of 13 is not a bad ratio as I liked the others so far but it's time to reveal a new face or at least a 3D era kharacter who wasn't in MK9.
 
I have no interest in having ancestors as playable characters in a game where their descendants are being pushed as the new generation. It takes a lot of shine away from them and automatically makes players compare them to their pre-established fathers, mothers, uncles, sisters etc. Johnny Cage and Sonya Blade are awesome but I don't want them being playable this time around. Cassie needs to be developed and given time to grow into her own. Otherwise, she'll just be in their shadow. If anything, Johnny and Sonya should just be DLC. If they are in the story mode as background filler, cool. I'm all for them having speaking lines and appearing as older versions of themselves but being playable characters and fighting for the fate of the realms? Nah, they need to hang up the boots and pass the torch to their daughter.

The only other MK:2011 characters I'd like to see in MKX are: Mileena, Sektor, and Skarlet.

This seems about right. Fujin is the only post MK4 character I'm positive about.
edit : Oh yeah forgot about Shinnok
 
man I really just want noob,mileena, cyrax,sektor,skarlet and jade dont care who else makes it from mk9. didn't jade get possessed by an evil spirit? think she can be really interesting gameplay and story wise also is there a chance noob could become the final boss?

Thanks. My impulse was to find some other interpretation for what he could have meant, but the thousand-yard stare right after he says it seems to seal the deal, doesn't it? Makes sense with what we've been hearing about with Johnny leading a Special Forces team, that's the sort of character development you want to show off. Playable Sonya would surprise me more (but still not terribly).
