Roster Speculation

This is just my thoughts, if we stay at the current 24 for example: We currently have 8 mk9 characters, say 4 more returning mk9 for that 12. Then I think the next 12 will consist of the new 4 we currently have, with another new 4 and then 4 post mk3. This does not include Goro who I think maybe like Kratos is a special square that opened to your DLC.
 
I take very few things the devs say literal before the game comes out unless I hear the same thing or see videos from different sources.

So I'm hoping for 30 ON RELEASE..but I'm expecting 24 to 26..

Commander told me what interview it was, but my short term memory at the moment has forgot. It wasn't Ed Boon I think it was Shaun Himmerick, but it was stated the 24 slot was at the moment a place holder. He said they are putting as much as the can before the they have to send game out to production. I don't know how NRS is, but I know DAI and COD were 2 weeks before release date if that gives some kinda base.

Ed Boon never said more new playable characters than any previous MK game.
He just said more new characters than any previous MK game.
That's pretty vague.
Deadly Alliance had 11 new characters; 1 of which was an unplayable sub-boss (Moloch), and 2 which were unlockable characters (Blaze, Mokap).
Technically, going by that, it could also be possible that there are 1 or 2 new sub-bosses (not on the main roster) and 9 or 10 new playable characters.

Also consider this; Goro is playable.
Meaning that he will likely get a ladder ending in Ladder Mode, and he probably won't be the sub-boss that you fight before the final boss, like he was in MK9.
Chances are likely that Goro could have more of an MK9 Shang Tsung role in Ladder Mode, where you fight him before the sub-boss, but he's not the sub-boss.
Chances seem pretty good (IMO) that we could get a new unplayable sub-boss or 2, for MKX.

Yup.
Goro being time-released DLC seems like the most logical explanation for me too, unless NRS plans to ban him from tournaments, in which case then they truly DID make him pre-order only.

I don't think Deadly Alliance and Deception characters have very good chances of ever making another appearance in the series, sadly. There are some I would love to see reimagined but I just have a feeling NRS wants to forget about those games and make completely new characters instead. Except maybe Havik, since he's original enough and people like him.

Shinnok and Fujin will hopefully have a place in the story, while I can see Tanya at least being DLC for the same reason as Havik.

About the guests: Don't want Jason but saw this morning that the next movie will be out in may this year, so it seems more likely than ever. And I thought about Talion mainly because Boon tweeted about that game a few times before and it's also WB and pretty gory.
 
If they where not in mk9 I count them as a new characters ...lol so yea Tanya ,Fujin and Cassie are new fresh characters to me.

I bet you guys would be so pissed if we only got 2 more never before seen characters and all the rest where from post mk3 and returning mk9 guys.

I actually wouldn't mind if we got 2 new characters and the rest were post-MK3.

I'm wondering how many nostalgia people, stuck in 1995 would be pissed, though, if ____________ trilogy character doesn't make it in, or if the other half of the roster DOES end up being never before seen characters and post-MK3 characters.
Can't always have your cake and eat it too.

Blaze was in the Pit II stage in MK2. Does this still count him as "new" in MKDA?

I thought that was Hornbuckle.

Either way, since Blaze was never playable or a sub-boss before, then yes, in the context of a fightable AI and / or playable character, he would be considered as a new character.

I got who I wanted a long time ago with Sub-Zero, Ferra/ Torr, D'Vorah and Kotal Kahn looking awesome. ;)
Unlike you and a few others on here, though, I don't just enjoy MK for 1 or 2 characters.
I have an open mind and I'm willing to see some new fresh faces for MKX.
I will be enjoying MKX, regardless of who else is on the roster.
2 characters have never ever stopped me from ever getting an MK game, and they aren't stopping me from buying MKX, either.

thats a strong dlc list, I like it but I think tanya will be on the main roster so I would swap Tanya with Jade and Havik with nightwolf.
I would preffer Predator instead of Jason as a guest.

also I would like shinok as the final boss and that pic with the weapon that looks like a bow looks like it could be kai.

YESSS I USE 1 or 2 characters because I like to win and I specifically love those characters .
