For those complaining about this game being a re-hash

We'll get our new characters eventually. The feedback for D'Vorah, Torr, Cassie and Kotal has been widely positive. There is no reason for NRS to back out on them now. Plus if you've been reading the comic, you'll see that they're prepping for some new blood to come in.

There's much more to the game than new characters- and there are so many in the MK saga... we can see any of the following

Tanya
Shinnok
Fujin
Jarek
Kobra
Kai
Kira
Sareena
Jataaka
Kia
Takeda
Taven
Daegon
Rain
Hydro
Tremor
Skarlet
Li Mei
Bo'Rai Cho
Hotaru
Dairou
Darrius
Mavado
Drahmin
Belokk
Onaga

On top of...

Jade
Shang Tsung
Smoke
Cyrax
Sektor
Reptile
Ermac
Sindel
Mileena
Kabal
Kintaro
Sheeva
Jax
Stryker

... the list is endless. Let's hold off on the complainin' till like, March, when there's a definite idea. I'm sure they'll also release a demo.

I really don't see this being a "retcon" or 2011.5 or whatever because we have two/three characters back from the dead.

Some are basing Kung Lao never died or whatever based on a small part of the conversation between him and Raiden with Raiden going, "Where have you been?" Lemme remind you that:

1.) We don't even know what the hell Kung Lao has to say after that.

2.) Kung Lao could have easily disappeared right after his resurrection, or ditched Raiden somewhere without telling him about it.

If people would just somewhat stop and think that maybe there's more to this despite the lack of information, we'll get our answers eventually and find out what really happened. That's what I'm doing. I made a face when I saw Kitana being brought back because I honestly didn't expect her to be apart of this roster. Yes, I did not expect her to come back as a playable character, however I did expect her to be apart of this game as a cameo. So however you look at that, yes I did expect her to be in this game.

Maybe there's some redemption with her and Kung Lao that the writers feel like showing off. I truly HATED what they did to Kung Lao. Getting his neck snapped by Kahn after his arrogance showed? Come on, that was a ridiculous, cringe-worthy scene.

Basically all I am saying is that, I'd wish people would just wait to get the answers before bashing, or going on these forums and tearing people apart by explaining to those who don't think this is a rehash. I am actually glad that they're not releasing everything at once, but at the same time I'm not mainly because of how people are reacting towards this. I still want them to not release everything because the fans are begging for some answers, I just wish some would learn to have a little patience. That's all I'm really asking for.

I don't take most of the complaints as "bashing", but more so people struggling to make sense of it. Most of the posters here wouldn't be posting on this forum if it weren't for a love of all things MK. So I think it is fair to say that at this point, with everyone here having a pretty deep knowledge of the MK story, it is hard to imagine a way to bring those characters back in a sensical manner.

Im willing to give them the benefit and wait till I play through the story mode. But you have to cut people some slack when they ask what is the point of killing them if you just bring them right back.

The only thing I can hope for is that they do a ton of DLC for this game. We got 3 + a guest character in MK9 and 5 + a guest character in Injustice. I can only hope we will get around 8 DLC characters or so including the guest one

But you have to cut people some slack when they ask what is the point of killing them if you just bring them right back.

That's exactly my issue. Why kill them off in the first place if they're gonna come back in the next game? It not only cheapens their death scene, but the entire story of the previous game. But whatever. No sense in me harping on it anymore. With Kung Lao, Kitana and Jax all confirmed as "alive", I can see that NRS is more concerned with shaping the story around a predetermined roster based on favoritism rather than creating a sensible story and constructing the roster from there.

Getting disappointed over a roster choice I can understand.

Getting as actively upset as you've been getting today? That's an overreaction, and you need to chill out because it's ridiculous.

You, I, nor anyone on this forum knows what else is on the roster, how big it is, or how much DLC we're going to get - but you've spent today screaming about it like there will never be another new MK character and we'll be stuck in an endless repeat of MK9 forever.

I'm not saying you can't have an opinion on the roster or have feelings or whatever - but at least try to reign in your reactions to an event-appropriate level, because right now your reaction to Kitana being revealed isn't on the level of "there's a character in the game I don't want in the game." Your reaction along the lines of "Ed Boon took a shit in my mother's mouth and I'm out for vengeance."
This.
I could not have said this better.

I'm figuratively on my knees praying that Liu Kang is the final boss/main focal point in the story so that it makes COMPLETE sense that Kung Lao and Kitana are "back from the dead".

Nah, who am I kidding, that reason is secondary.

I'm actually hoping that he gets revealed as the boss so that way the people who are throwing fits can look back and be like "oh... so that's why. Gosh I feel a bit dumb for jumping to conclusions without knowing barely anything about the game/story at the time".

Iv known Liu Kang had a big chance of being the big bad for a long time now..

I don't understand your point.

So if you share the same sentiments as me regarding the Liu being the final boss, why complain that the two characters closest to him are back for this game?

I mean if they reveal more "dead" characters, sure there may be a cause for concern, but with things considered that Liu could potentially be the final boss, and the fact they revealed two characters closest to him, I see ZERO reason to complain.

All in all since the possibility is there, I'm imploring everyone to keep an open mind.

Because the story writers, including Vogel, are terrible. Yeah, I said it. Unpopular opinion, I know. They did it for le shock value, and then went back on their story once they realized it was a stupid decision.

This whole "there is no such thing as death in Mortal Kombat" needs to stop. Its been done to death and is just annoying and laughable at this point. If you are going to kill off a character, KEEP THEM DEAD. If not, dont kill them off. Its just lazy writing for shock value at this point

The cheating of death is a defining feature of Mortal Kombat, and has been for 23 years.

Wow I am shocked this guy said Kitana looks like a slut. I can see you are angry man but really?... Wow. And I'm not understanding how Liu being brought back would be a good reason for Kung and Kitana to be back Taj lol. What are they gonna try to have an intervention with him or something?.. I really hope they have a really good reason for them to be back.. I feel my fav character(Ermac) would be the route to go, because he can get their souls and bring them back especially now that he is free from Shao.... Idk but they better have a good explanation. It's funny how people on this forum wanted that Ellachbura guy gone for his opinion on bringing back the dead but now I see people saying the same stuff he was saying and you all destroyed him for that.

Most of the people echoing ellechbura's sentiments were not suspected of being duplicate accounts or engaging in personal attacks the way he was. Only a select few know whether or not the duplicate account allegations against him are true, but he is banned nonetheless.

I love how people are begging for post-MK3 characters to get a chance to return or for more new characters but I'm willing to bet my left nut that they were the same people shitting on the MKDA, MKD, and MKA characters when they debuted. Comedy at its finest!

Not so much an intervention, but more because of their close relationship, and how interactions would take place for them. It could be an intervention in an MK style lol

Obviously not an intervention, but we have seen loved ones able to "purify" tainted souls, it's a huge plot device. If you haven't seen this before in stories then obviously you live under a rock.

Look no further to... Um, let's see here... Oh yeah, the most obvious and glaring example:
