Who wants to see Earthrealm as the antagonist

Maybe for not this game but I do want to see a part of the story where Earthrealm goes all militaristic and decides to take over some of the realms. Maybe they can research some magic, learn how to kill outworld's monster, unite the countries as one nation and flat out try to control the other realms
 
Eh, it would make for a pretty lame antagonist.
Some hot headed military dude isn't as intimidating as Shao Kahn or Onaga.

Besides, nobody cares about the modern aspects of Earthrealm. Stryker isn't as compelling as Liu Kang.

How about someone who is more like Balalaika from Black Lagoon or hell he/she don't really have to be evil but someone who is cold and calculating but won't take crap from anyone like Amanda Walker or Princess Bubblegum
 
I don't know who any of those people are, but I could see someone like that.
Something like Deathstroke I guess.
 
Earthrealm could never be a threat to other realms.

The realm itself is most likely among the weakest... if not for "individual strength" of characters such as Liu Kang and protectors, Earthrealm wouldn't exist.
- First of all they have very little to no knowledge or understanding of the existence of realms let alone anything relevant to MK
- Earthrealm as a whole is light years behind from a mental aspect.
- Military might doesn't mean sh!t in MK unless mystical aspects and sorcery are included.
- Leave the black lagoon ideas for rouges like Kano etc where they can actually be put to good use.
 
Earthrealm is definitely a powerful force in the MK universe. If it wasn't then Shang Tsung wouldn't have armed the Tarkatans with Earthrealm weapons in MK9.

- Then how come you have kharacters like Kano, Sonya, Jax, Cyrax, and Sektor who use nothing but technology and skill yet they still are one the of the strongest bunch in the MK verse, hell Stryker uses normal SWAT weapons but he gets by well

I dont see how earthrealm could be the villain, just like how outworld isnt really the antagonist. It would have to be an individual from earthrealm and at that point I dont really think their realm of origin really matters a whole lot.
 
Yeah this all sounds like it'd be a good story arc for a comic book. Like Shang Tsung becomes a head of some private military and tries to weaken Earthrealm by causing WW3. Sonya defects from the Special Forces but Jax remains loyal and they become rivals.

I don't see it working as a whole story for a game though.

- Ok why? From who? And exactly how much could they even learn? And even with that knowledge what will that accomplish? Not everyone can wield aura and open up portals.... Have we ever seen a human open a portal?
Earthrealm will never be a powerhouse let alone a minor threat.

- Sektor and Cyrax are lin kuei, they had unique abilities prior to the cyber initiative.
- Kano, Jax and Sonya have their own unique story which doesn't even involve the realms tbh. For the record all 3 get murked they are mid tier fighters even among earth's warriors. Do any of the 3 have any amazing feats to their names? Nope.
- "Stryker gets by well" lol

Earthrealm can have individuals who can be classified as threats (e.g. Shang) but that's as far as that goes. They aren't Chaos realm material lol.
 
With the right people, I think Earthrealm could because an antagonist. The only problem is I can't think of any reason for an Earthrealmer to become evil. Unless they start doing the merging of realms story and the current heroes decide not to agree with that method. I want them to have a game with Earthrealm as the antagonist, but I just don't see how it could work as of now.
