As for Sonya and Johnny appearing and possibly being playable:

At work, can't watch the video, can someone just tell me if it's typical Ed Boon, I'll repeat the same answers for every interview I get, kinda thing?

Its 95% like this,the only difference is that he says the majority of the story is set after the 25 years and there will be a returning ality.(not clear if its the new one already announced or not).

EDIT:He also says Rain won't be DLC.Maybe he'll be on the main roster,maybe completely gone.

It's the same Boon replies, with the exception of what I just quoted and the -ality being a reinstated one from the past.
 
I hope Rain doesn't make it in.
One of the lamest characters in the series that also happens to be popular for some reason.

Rain is a waterfall of amazing.

Most people have to be in water for their farts to blow bubbles, but Rains automatically just blow bubbles. That's how great he is.

So, outta here with this hate bblp. You just don't understand his greatness.

Btw, did anyone catch Raiden, Kano, and SUB-ZERO will all be there in their sort of OLDER forms. I still think that this is one of the brothers. The dead eyes are a giveaway.

Apparently Gamescom is over for NRS and MKX. They went to collect feedback and show the new build to other media. Keep your eyes open for coming reports and interviews.

Here's what we learned this week (not too much):

- Kano revealed with his three variations
- story won't be linear but the main events will happen in the future interrupted by flasbacks
- MKX will follow the one character/chapter method (only with time-jumps this time) since fans embraced it in MK9 and Injustice
- Kotal Kahn will be the emperor of Outworld at one point and D'Vorah will work with him and maybe turn on him later
- Cassie won't be the only descendant, Ed Boon mentioned that family members/relatives will interact with eachother and he specifically mentioned cousin (new Subby?)
- the new -ality will probably be a reinstated one
- Console exclusive guests confirmed
- release date will be announced in the next few weeks

Could have been worse. Events coming up in a fast pace next month so we'll get new things for sure. We got our reveal this week as well.

It just means that those characters are the year 25 versions, IMO.
(Still holding out for 50 year old Sonya and Johnny.) :)
Meaning, that this could still be either one of the brothers, a nephew (since the 2 brothers DID have a sister) or a pupil of one of the former brothers.

Bi-Han and Kuai-Liang would be in their 50s in MKX, if the version that we play as is the 25 year version.
MK X Sub-Zero looks like he's in his mid-30s, AT MOST.

- Scorpion is the most damaging character overall in the current build. Likely to change with later builds and patch updates.
- Some characters have button input taunts specific to certain variations. Cassie will perform a salute.
- Kano has 'Air Ball, Kano Ball, Up Ball and Knife Throw as his universal moves across all of his variations.
- Yellowish-green Player 2 costume colouring for Cassie.
- Increased frame data info in moves-list: Start up, active, recover, block advantage, hit advantage, cancel, etc.
- Kotal Kahn has some of the most damaging chain combos across all present characters.

Not if they're undead. Which coincidentally Bi-Han and Kuai Liang both are at this point. I very much doubt Scorpion will just be forgotten about in the 25 year gap. He's NRS logo. So an undead Bi-Han or Kuai seems plausible to me.

Kuai is dead and Bi-Han's whereabouts are unknown.
Scorpion doesn't age, so age doesn't apply to him.

"I tire of maintaining our innocence" could also refer to a cousin or nephew of the brothers, who is tired of the continuous bad family history with Scorpion.
I also don't see why this NEW possible cousin or relative can't squash the beef with Scorpion, and put bad family history to rest by helping Scorpion take out Quan Chi.

He could gain the "Granmaster" variation from Kuai, the "Unbreakable" variation from Bi-Han and "Cryomancer" could be his own MK X variation.

Rain started out that way and I remember not giving a shit for him back in the day, but after what they did for him in MK9, I saw potential for a badass. Then I started using him and realized that he needed to stay in MK from this point on and if he does then I hope one of his variations is "Water Bending" like in the "Avatar Series" and if thats not the case then they should introduce "Hydro" and he can Waterbend :P

I know. I just said that about Scorpion.

I'm not saying that it can't apply to 1 of the 2 brothers.
The 2 brothers haven't been brought back in MKX yet, though.
As of MK9 Kuai is still dead, and Noob may be either dead OR alive.
We don't know WHO this Sub-Zero is yet.
That's my point.

I'm just entertaining the possibility that BOTH brothers are dead following MK9, and this is a NEW Sub-Zero (aka relative or pupil of the brothers).
 
If Rain is not going to be DLC then I doubt he will be on the main roster. We have 12 old characters coming back, I think there's other characters that should be used instead in my opinion. I get the feeling that Ed Boon is not a fan of Rain given that he was not playable for another 10 years after MKT. I think they originally had his MKT ending canon since it mention he went on suicide mission which can explain why he was gone for so long.
