It's just one opinion, but I can share my wife's view on that (she's a nissei, a second generation Japanese descendant in Brazil, besides the fact that she lived in Japan for quite some time): it's probably because it's an "Americanized" view of Asian elements and a lot of stuff is very generic (besides the fact that they don't even know how to pronunciate a few words - shirai-ryu isn't pronunciated as shirai- RAYOO). They usually aren't much interested in this kind of thing over there. As I'm familiar to Japanese culture, I'm under the same impression. Of course we're open to being corrected if that's the case, but we both have reasons to think that it doesn't appeal to the Japanese in terms of story, characters, elements and so on.

Kano was unofficially announced way before Gamescom. The Kano trailer came out a day or two before Gamescom... So, when it comes to Gamescom itself, the reveals and announcements have been awful. And everyone was sitting around waiting for at least one big reveal for this event. Kano is not a big deal as we have known about him since the German magazine leaked his pictures.

Well if Netherrealm was smart, they'd have a backup plan in case Kano was leaked. Which they should have seen coming.

Yes. Agreed. Animalities always have been stupid. The whole concept for pretty much any character aside from Nightwolf is stupid. It's gotta be Brutalities.

The return of an ancient finish move doesn't mean the new -ality announced is this ancient finish move.

Ed Boon still never brought up Shinnok from the end of MK9. I guess Shinnok will play a major role in the story mode and Ed Boon does not want to spoil it.
