Ermac confirmed for mkx? (pic in thread)

See, that's why I like Mortal Kombat's designs. Unlike Street Fighter, Soul Calibur and I think Tekken (I've never played that series), Mortal Kombat doesn't keep giving them the same outfit game after game after game. They can look similar, but no two costumes ever seem to look alike. And the further they stray from the whole "ninja" gimmick, the better. This is the kind of stuff I'd like to see more of. Will we? I dunno, but I hope so.

Fans still expect to know instantly who a character is just by looking at him/her. Change the costume too much and we get robbed of that.

The whole idea is making the characters unique so they're all different from each 'ninja'. So in doing so the roster's diversity is expanded rather than having seven different characters with the same design. I couldn't see identifying them being that much of a problem. Even if I don't know who they are by looking at their new concept the first time then good. That means they're defined.

As I said before, when Ermac was fully fleshed out in MKD and MK9 he became defined and anyone can identify with who he is and I'm sure most people enjoy his look.

What are you talking about? Soul Calibur characters get different costumes consistently. Yoshitmitsu in from Tekken changes constantly, but otherwise is the characters have been stable for the most part.

Even so, I fail to see what is achieved by changing designs constantly. Change for its own sake? Mario and Sonic have hardly changed and they are among the most recognized characters. Ryu's red headband and white dogi are part of his iconic look.

Even for MK, it's not the embellishments that makes Scorpion recognizable....

Well Ermac's MK9 look (which isn't far from his MKD attire) seems to have gone away from the classic ninja v and we see any picture from that and we know its Ermac. So its not impossible. Look at that fan art. Its not really a ninja costume but you can't tell me you wouldn't identify that as Ermac first glance.

Ermac's MK9 look was still similar to his MK: Deception look, just a lot less red.

No, without the souls in the pic, if you showed MK fan that pic and asked who he was, no way in hell they would identify him as Ermac.

And fans recognize those characters INSTANTLY upon seeing them. They don't go, "who's that fat guy with the big red M on his cap?", they go, "that's Mario" within a quarter of a second. Do you really want to get to the point where fans are all of a sudden seeing an MK mainstay and questioning who that character is simply because NRS changed the costume so damn much?

The only thing unique about the MK 'ninja' look in the original trilogy was their color.. Would you have any doubt that it was Noob Saibot when first seeing his MK9 or MKD costume? He doesn't sport the same costume as before but the unique color was there. My original point was that they each develop in to their own distinctive character appearance wise. So if you're going to compare it to Mario, are you trying to tell me they should revert back to pallete swaps as they originally were?

ahaahahh Exactly Noob.

you cant argue change on some people but....change is good, unless its change brought on by obama

For starters, why don't you stay COMPLETELY on topic? What do politics have to do with the topic at hand? Or someone else's favorite music for that matter? Your antics are destroying your credibility.

Why the hell do you keep bringing up Obama? He has nothing to do with this discussion.

Anyway, I think change is good as long as NRS don't lose their way. I mean, I could recognise Ermac right away and it seems to fit with the theme of MKX. There must be a balance in maintaining an identity and making things fresh... I don't think this new Ermac design throws off the balance. I'm all for it, and Ermac will have alt costumes right? Just wait and see.

I'm guessing you're not going to be satisfied unless after pressing the button combination for your fatality it cuts to a real life scene of people dying.

And what world do you live in that clowns aren't scary as shit?

There was a fatality where Stryker blew the other persons head off with a gun and you could still see the tongue wagging.

Are there games any darker than this?

Lol good point.I don't need my fatalities really realistic .I loved Johnny's Grammy fatality .

ITT a bunch of non Mortal Kombat fans that I hope are just trolling for shits and giggles about needing more gore and a darker presentation.

Mortal Kombat is serious during the fighting. It's serious during the story. But other than that it's tongue in cheek humour. It's the lame sarcastic humour Ed Boon tweets with. There's a charm to it. And without it this game isn't the greatest fighting series ever. It would have no personality or dimensions other than fight fight fight kill.

If that's all you want in a game go play something else.

no i believe this jokes, are the are what is holding it back from being the greatest fighter ever...

seriously, the story was serious? LOL

Im no doing it for giggles, mkx, im hoping is as dark and gritty as the trailer, I am over the cartoonish, toilet humor mk has become over the years

If it becomes purely dark and gritty, it would be the most pretentious, eye rolling pile of shit ever. The concept just doesn't go with 100% seriousness. You're just trying to take the fun out of the game. Lets take Scorpion and Sub zero out, too? How about gameplay next? Let's take out everything that's not a fatality and call it a day, because that's the only aspect of MK right?

No.

Go and play something else, because you're trying to make MK something that it is not.
