Mortal Kombat HD Remix with MUGEN

There is a bit of a misconception about what a good video card does for viewport framerate. From all the reading I've done on the subject, 3ds max viewport relies heavily on processor power for the viewport animation to be smooth. Also a multicore 3Ghz processor isn't going to show viewport updates as quickly as a 4ghz single core (if such a single core processor existed) would. In other words, Max viewports don't support multithreading. This may have changed since max 2013 which seems to leverage more of the GPU for viewport updates. Still the best way to increase viewport speed is through a faster CPU. Those really fancy and expensive $2K cards allow for viewport antialiasing, a greater number of polys to be shown in viewport and for shaders or reflections/shadows to be shown in realtime. Also of importance to the viewport is 64 bit vs. 32 bit. I would hope/guess Bleed is using 64 bit

Your video card is not too bad.
I was afraid you had integrated graphics.
I still feel the preview should be faster for a not-too-complex scene like that.

Oh, God, this Raiden is so great! I wish to see, how Bleed can work on Johny Cage and Liu Kang's skin materials, to make them look a bit more realistic!

Liu Kang's skin was actually pretty good the last time I saw it.
It's been a while since, so let's see what arq comes up with next.

Thanks for tr support guys, liu kang is already rigged. The difference between my last model and this one is overwhelming, muscles deforms the way they should do it, I was going to upload a picture and maybe a video but I didnt have time so it will have to be on Monday

I'm not sure how that's going to be made yet. I'm messing with the light right now, trying to get some better shading, he looks too flat.

I think the lightning could be made with a combination of renderable splines linked to some helpers.

Put some noise on the line, and animate the helpers by hand.

The huge solid eyes and flat lighting are throwing me off a bit, but I think that Raiden is looking good.

I'd check however that the right arm's animation is looking a bit rigid, as if the elbow is hitting something.
It's mostly noticeable in his fist.

But so far so good.

Great work Bleed, as always.

I think it's better to use almost a white color light instead of what you're currently using.(here's an example)

-imo, everybody knows that this version of rayden has white eyes But looking arround here:raiden-mk1-profile.gif mk1-raiden.jpg end1.gif hqdefault.jpg

i think is the last detail for add. With those blues eyes, is a real omnipotent gaze.

Raiden is looking pretty good, the only thing that seems off is the hat being a tad too shiny/glossy as if it was made of gold.
As everyone already pointed out, his white clothes had some blue tones, this was probably made to tell apart raiden from kano while looking from afar.

About the lightning, will it cast light on the model? that will take A LOT of time, wouldn't it?

Is this supposed to be animated or just a render?

I'm seeing warm undertones in the white of Raiden's Gi. I think it should be lit with blue lighting as I think Arq suggested. Also I agree the lighting is flat. Don't forget that I've created the 2D electrical animation for the final game sprites. I know you'll need to recreate that effect though for your movie.

Making the room color blue let me tint the shadows. I couldn't get that effect with the lights.

The color on the lights has to be almost white, or the bright areas will also turn blue.

That Looks great bleed, I would only say that you should try target spot slight with vray shadows instead of vray lights, if you notice the original sprites have hard edges shadows instead of soft like yours, that is if you want to go really like the original, if not, it looks great with vray lights too, congrats.

Do you already have the fight sequence?? I guess we all want to it

Wow nice update Bleed. Major improvement! What Arq
said about the hard vs. soft shadows may be worth trying.

That looks just great.
While the shadow on his leg is somewhat more diffuse, the shadows in his upper arms are pretty harsh already.
I don't know what it would take to make it all the same.
Not that I'm bothered at all by it either.

My only worry is the face looking a bit too blue and too dark (one due to the other).
Can you create an orange-y yellow light just for the face?
Maybe even a white one could do.
