Mortal Kombat HD Remix with MUGEN

I wouldn't touch the animation besides the robotic motion I mentioned earlier.

If anything I notice is that the contour of the black hood is different. It should be further behind at the height of the eyes, and more forward at the height of the mouth and chin.

The texture for the cloth is almost pure white, but it comes out gray in the render. Overall render looks too dark and I'm not really happy with it.
 
In my opinion the lightning from the previous renders was much better. The skin was more vivid, like his hand and it looked very real. It's kind of dark now.

Thanks to Uker for ALL of his helpful feedback! I tried to incorporate a lot of what he said. A big thing I found was that I was playing the main melody an octave too high, it seems. I also changed the instrument for the lead instrument for that and I think things are sounds lots better on that front. I also swapped around the percussion and played with the few synths that are going on. I'm still not totally happy with the high synth so there will be more revisions to come.

Anywho, PLEASE let me know what you guys think! I'm always surprised by the amount of downloads these tracks get. Please feel free to jump in and let me know what you thought, downloaders! :)

Also, thanks bleed for the kind words. Your Raiden is coming along nicely! I'm sure you'll breath the same life into his animations that you did for the other characters.
 
raiden is looking great bleed, I would say you should change the color of the light, from that white, yellowish color to a more blueish color, to match better the sprites, and I agree with uker on the motion looking kind of robotic....

other than that.. is looking awesome

What I did:
- Taller hat
- Reshaped hood
- Fuller chest
- Baggier sleeves
- Reshaped hand. Index finger starts at the same height as the middle one, longer and more tapered. Also redid the thumb a bit. Can't tell what's wrong with it from such a small render though.
- Pants' thigh slightly wider when seen from the front
- More open right foot

Probably lighting related, but I also whitened the suit and desaturated the hat a bit.

Man! I wish I had access to vsti's like that shamisen sounding instrument. It sounds really good.
 
Kudos, sounds legit. Much better than the first attempt, this one definitely captures the MK2 vibe for sure. Keep up the amazing work. ;-)

Originally I didn't agree about the index finger, but now that you've illustrated here I get it and I agree. Also the other changes are spot on as well. Particularly the taller hat and baggier clothing.

Arq, Liu Kang is looking amazing!

Bleed, you never cease to amaze. Love it. I haven't had time to read and catch up on the thread yet - incase this was already mentioned - but I think he needs a hard light coming from the upper-front of him along with pretty much everything uKER pointed out.

I have about an hour here to work on Liu Kang's shadow-shoulder version, I've been touching up the portrait for the last few months here and there when I found the time but I lost my job so life has been its lifey self as usual.

Sorry if I've missed anyone's updates, I will be looking through to see what I've missed.

Will post ASAP.


UPDATE: As far as Raiden's stance animation goes - it looks like it would work if he almost came to a complete split-second stop after(in-between?) each L and R sway movement he's making.

just to keep you guys update, I'm working on liu, I'm rigging it, again because I was working on 3dmax 2013 with an old version on CAT wich had BIG PROBLEMS with FK, IK.... for example, to make the arm twist I had to rotate every bone to make it look natural, but thanks God I found an update wich fixed all the bugs I had..

another problem was the viewport running too slow, but it's fixed aswell, and liu kang is looking nice, soon I post a picture in a very hard pose and on his stance so you guys see it.. cheers

Yeah, that's pretty much the reason I keep bugging you people with those animated GIFs many of you probably hate by now. XD
Without those I know my comments would simply be overlooked deeming me as a nutjob (which I'm not saying I'm not).

Some things I do to speed up playback in the 3ds.max viewport.


1 = Have your max file and all the textures in the same folder. This gives me a big boost in speed.

2 = Turn off any turbosmooth, or extra modifiers you don't need on any model. Makes a difference even if the model is hidden, big speed boost.

3 = Hide any models you don't need to see, have as few polygons on screen as possible. I get like 14 to 17fps, if I stay under 2K polygons.
This can be a proxy model, or just part of the model. Gives me a big speed boost

4 = render with object color, instead of textures in the viewport. Display tab > Shaded > Object Color. I get like one frame faster with this.

5 = Use default lights, instead of scene lights. I get an extra frame with this.




With these changes, I went from 3fps to 17.
 
Doesn't 3DStudio support 3D acceleration for the viewport?
What GPU do you have, Bleed?
Here this guy is calling 24 FPS slow with a 400K poly scene on a four year old (albeit CAD-oriented) card.

My system isn't very strong, so that's a bit much for me.

I have a GeForce GT 520, it has Acceleration for DirectDraw, Direct3D and AGP Textures.
 
Your video card is not too bad.
I was afraid you had integrated graphics.
I still feel the preview should be faster for a not-too-complex scene like that.
