Mortal Kombat HD Remix with MUGEN

believe me man, I really wanna make those animations aswell but I'm trying to have an organization chart with liu's animations, and that chart first needs movements and than actions, if I put those animations on mugen I won't be doing nothing if I can't move from the same position, and maybe crouch or jump are not as exciting as punch or kick but sure they are as necesary as the others, and maybe since my work is not so seen here but I'm doing a everything I can to get one animation per week, I would like to do it faster but I'm an architect, I'm a husband and I'm a father... believe me I would like to make things faster but if you wanna go faster.. go slow.

Oh yes, I understand the importance of the basic movement animations and that people can only work as fast as they have time to. There are other more important things to do in life. I wasn't meaning to sound negative. I was just giving a theory about why some people might not notice some of the work.

Also, all of the work done by everyone, (music, stages, effects, characters, etc) is all really great looking. It's easy for people to lose track of who has done what.

But what should be said here, is your Liu Kang is looking great! Don't get me wrong, it is good.

I've been thinking about the impossibility for Baraka to hide the blades whitin his arm and came up with an idea that deviate a little from the original concept but makes more sense out of his weapon:

That's if Bleed or the team care about realism in this particular aspect. Eitherway, it's just a suggestion and it wouldn't be really noticeable during gameplay or anything... It is also perfect if you decide to make it exactly the way it is in the game, it's just that I find it a little bit harder to believe now that I see Bleed's HD model... unless the blades turn into something like liquid metal... or we stop thinking about realism... because at the end of the day it's MK.

Leave verosimilitude to Kevin Tancharoen (whose work I'm not too fond of, honestly).
Being a portfolio piece, I think what's relevant is it being the closest possible match to the original actor.
I think the money in the film industry is in being able to achieve a believable digital stand-in.

I think, that completely folded arms of Baraka can't be seen, until blades revealed - his pose looks like, he can't fold his arm in elbow?

Probably, he has some kind of metal hollow bones, where the blades are hiding?

Has this project been released yet? If so can anyone give me the download link, I'm eager to play it after looking at pictures, but with no luck have not been able to find where to download it.

No, it has not, and unfortunately it's nowhere near being.

Yeah, sadly it's maybe about half done, but there's still a good year to year and a half of solid work to be done, at the pace the project has been going at.

I would be nice though if we could at least get a 3 character, 2 stage demo/beta for us just to tinker with until the game comes out, but I won't hold my breath.

I'd still like to contribute some voice overs and foley effects one day, I just gotta have the free-time which is hard between working two jobs and maintaining a relationship. haha But never-the-less, I cannot wait to play this one day. I hope it doesn't get dropped like Sonic HD. That was amazing.

Baraka looks like Baraka, so Bleed succeeded in my book. A+, sir!

Bleed is definitely the primary talent in this project, even though there are more of us involved. Liu is looking good, btw! I came to terms with the fact that composers always take a back back back seat in projects, and I'm honestly fine with that. People are very visually oriented so most people may not even notice things like sound or music. However, that keeps the pressure off me and on you visual guys! hahaha

Well, this looked like Baraka too.

And this probably looked like Liu Kang too.

Patting people's backs for their work is great, but sometimes jumping the gun and dropping the "you already got there" comments too soon may end up holding them back from achieving what they really could/should.

Just a random thought.
Not aimed at anybody in particular, and certainly not talking about Bleed's Baraka, as I think he already took it as far as he needed to.

@Arq

Sorry to bug you about this man, but can you put an OBJ version of LUI's Statue pose up in dropbox for me. The new zip won't open for me either. You must have a plugin that I don't have. Exporting as .obj should fix the problem.

@cal

the new obj file is in drop box, in a new folder named statue :)

OK, getting there Arq, Can you place the normal maps for each object in the "statue" folder for me? I have the statue setup but it looks strange without your normal maps. If you are using displacement maps then please provide those as well.

got it, you can check in a few minutes cal, tell me if you need anything else, can't wait to see it.

I'll be posting the jumping animation tomorrow morning

cheers

well here we go, my jumping animation, after rendered and played couple times I think he should reach higher, but I don't know.... leave comments :)

Well, the body position looks pretty good.
What doesn't look so good however is the acceleration (and deceleration when going up).
Looks like he is floating or hanging on wires.

About the height, why eyeball it when you can just check the game?
See how high his crotch goes, and match that to the original standing stance.
For instance, say his crotch goes up to eye level, or top-of-the-head level.
(I can't do it right now because I'm at work and I uninstalled the game from my phone)

EDIT: Never mind, I just redownloaded the ROM to my phone. His feet should reach about one head higher than where the top of his head is when standing. So yeah, you're jumping about half of what you should.

Also his right foot (left in the picture) should appear more to the right. That is, the knee should be more flexed.
