Mortal Kombat HD Remix with MUGEN

uKER is impressibly good at giving suggestions and I think that's more important than what most of us can usually say, nevertheless I was so astounished at that MK3 Sub-Zero that I gotta get it out of my chest: THAT LOOKS ALMOST LIKE A HUMAN BEING...!!!

Thanks for the appreciation, man
Truly welcome. :)

Sub Zero looks good, but I think, his head is too big relatively to his body (probably, that's because wide angle 'lens').
Hey, guys, could you tell the name of the program you're using to get the basic body, from which you're sculpting the model? Is it 'Creature Creator'?

I believe they are using 3ds Max.

We are not using pre made models, everything is created from scratch.

[Programs that are good for most of the work, box modeling, animation, lighting, everything aside from sculpting]
3ds.max
Maya
Blender

[Sculpting software for making normal and displacement maps]
Zbrush
Mudbox
Blender

[Texture painting]
Photoshop
3Dcoat
Zbrush
Mudbox

Some of us are using different programs to do the same things, depends which you are comfortable with.

Hey Arq here is the statue base with material. You will need to delete the old mesh and replace with a merged version of your new mesh, but the lighting is all pre set for you and as long as you are using Vray I think the results should be the same. The material has two versions, a dark version of the stone and a light version of the stone. If you use the original as a reference it should be obvious where to apply each.

here is my shot at the statue..

@cal, tell me what you think, I know it needs some photshop for sure but, I think we're getting close

Beautiful work, I am viewing on my phone so I am hoping uKER would be able to take your base. png and edit to look as close as possible to the original statue then repost the .png. Once the proportions are done I will add all the cracks on and place inside the Photoshop file.

uKER you up for it? Let me know.

No problem. I'll take it on as soon as I get the time.
Then again, I'd still push for some corrections to the model.
At least the most noticeable stuff. Namely, the size of his shoulders, arms and hands, and the position of the clavicles (the sternum probably needs to a bit higher up).

Will do.
While I'm at this, hawkin, can you give these a shot?
- Make his shoulders narrower. Do not reduce them. Just move them closer to the center while trying to keep the chest as it is.
- Make his arms and hands thinner.
- Move up his whole sternum/neck/head cluster to the point where the clavicles are horizontal. His head looks sunken between his shoulders.
- His head should be a tad bigger, but it's hard to give a measurement for this one.

I can fix the statue but it won't be any good if the victory pose looks too noticeably different, and being animated, I couldn't fix that one.

Hey guys I just wanted to show you this picture so you really see the proportions without fisheye lens, I never used it but I guess the camera had an angle too wide

Proportions look good, but his legs look strange from the front view.

Either his inner thigh muscles are too small, or his lower thigh muscles are too big.

His arms are huge and his lower legs are too small.
Also, as Bleed said, there shouldn't be that gap between his thighs.
Perhaps move the hips closer together.
If you want, upload a bigger image and I'll make a mockup.

As a guide, the distance from finger tips to finger tips when the arms are spread out, is the same as from the floor to the top of the head.

The distance from wrist to wrist is like from the floor to the middle of the pecs.

Here's this.
Smaller forearms and hands.
Bigger lower legs.
Bigger pelvis.

Now that I see my own, I did it in kind of a hurry and I probably made the thighs too long and the lower legs too short.
The knees should be a tad higher up.
Also, the hip should get narrower where the leg ends. It's kinda too straight in the one I made.

that's ok man, I fixed it already and the legs didn't need to be longer, but the knees needed to be higher, algo his elbows were to far from his shoulders, I wish I have some time tomorrow to go back to liu
