Mortal Fantasy Football Kombat 2012

I don't think I'll be able to make the fantasy draft because I gotta help my friend w/ some stuff, but I'll try to make it.
 
I have a home remodelling project that's still pending right now, so I cannot guarantee that I'll make the 12pm Central Time schedule. I think a 5-7pm-ish Central Time would be more reasonable as far as my schedule is concerned, but I'm not sure if it's reasonable for anyone else.

As for the season format, I think that extending the playoffs until Week 17 is not a good idea, because that's when teams who have already locked up a playoff spot, or are mathematically eliminated, rest their starters in the real game, and I feel it could potentially have a negative impact on fantasy football in general, more specifically if we end up with a Championship Game where both teams are loaded with such players who are benched in the real game due to the circumstances, and such players cannot be released.
 
I'm in favor of extending the regular season to 14 weeks, and having the playoffs go for weeks 15-17. I'm used to the leagues I usually participate in doing it this way. It's more fun to get to play everyone at least once, and I think having to deal with the possibility of star players sitting is a fun challenge. It forces managers to find some free agents who will get playing time and perform well. Gotta do more than draft well to win the league.

And about the draft, most of this whole weekend is bad for me. Sunday evening might work, anytime Monday is fine with me, and Tuesday night works for me.
 
Maybe you should make the draft sometime in the evening on Sunday, when everyone has seemingly finished their weekend stuff and take the time to sit back and relax before work (except for those living in Canada, since Monday is a holiday)? What does everyone think? Like, maybe 7 or 8 pm eastern time. Just a suggestion.
 
That's a great idea Jade. I just sent everyone, including those not here on TRMK, a league email asking if 7 Central Sunday works for them. If more people can do that than the current draft time, I will change it. If not, then I will leave it. You can respond to me there or here, whichever you want.
 
Yup, Sunday night sounds pretty good to me as well.

Also, the division names idea is pretty cool too; I shall rep Outworld for the emperor :twisted:
 
Thanks for all the feedback. I'm waiting on a few more responses, but it's pretty much looking like the draft time will be moving to 7pm Sunday now. Look for an email from me later confirming this.

I could use some more feedback on my question about the schedule though... so far I've only got two responses, one on each side of the argument. How about it? Do we want to stay as is or extend one week? (see post #62 above if you missed the whole explanation).
 
I honestly don't care which way we do it. Either way (for the schedule) is fine with me. I ain't picky.
 
Ok I have officially moved the draft time to 7:30 CDT on Sunday, September 2. Apparently, 7:00 was unavailable for some reason... maybe too many other leagues chose that time for their servers to accommodate or something. Anyway, hope to see you all there. Based on your responses, over half the league should be able to make it now, including ALL current TRMK members participating. That ought to be quite nifty indeed.

Hey guys, I went ahead and changed the schedule to 14 week regular season and playoffs weeks 15-17. It just makes the schedule neater to me, and extends our fun one week. I didn't receive any negative feedback when I suggested the change, except for Tarkatan Trash's objection above. I will note, Trash, that in our league you actually can change your team in the playoffs, so it shouldn't affect the championship game quite as much as you suggested. Plus, we did it that way last year anyway. See you guys tonight!

Is there a chat system on the NFL site? I am used to yahoo fantasy drafts, never done one on NFL.com.

Yes indeed, NFL.com fantasy football is definitely the best. I used to do Yahoo also. I also did some other version on Facebook that was ok for a bit. Also, this year is the first time I've had the opportunity to be the commissioner of a fantasy league... the number of customization options it has is staggering. I'm almost wondering if the reason you guys aren't suggesting any changes is because you don't realize how much I can change. To be honest though, looking at the options, the defaults really did seem pretty decent.
