Hot Fix Part 2 - Patch Notes for Patch #2

yeah true, I hope this patch improves the lagg especially in KOTH, not so happy with the nerfs and buff choices but it wil be overall balanced. Shang Tsung for 2012!

TYM has received word that these "detective notes" received by Tom Brady are "mostly accurate" and are the closest thing we have right now to the "Official" list of patch notes for the most recent update. Although an official list should be posted soon, now is a good time to check these notes out and review your respective fighters and make the appropriate changes to your game-play, if necessary.

Again, these notes came from Tom Brady and are "officially-said" to be mostly accurate.

1. Kung Lao spin has 6 more negative frames on block.
2. Kung Lao cannot do any more then 2 dive kicks in corner combos.
3. Kung Lao hat loop removed.
4. Sindel infinite removed.
5. Sindel can link scream after her standing

13. Cyrax bomb trap removed.

Removed how? Are the stun frames after the command grab gone? Or is the fact that command grab is breakable what eliminates the bomb trap? Sorry if it's an obvious answer, my brain's just not wrapping around this properly lol.

They made the hit stun on the command grab way less so the opponent can jump out of it I believe. I don't agree with this nerf it was an integral part of cyrax's game. I hope NRS realizes that just because you unintentionally put something in the game doesn't necessarily mean it's broken. And Quan Chi is gonna be worse than JAx after this nerf the only thing he had going for him was his 50/50 mixup after a landed teleport stomp. And they nerfed that in exchange to move after trance which is lame. At least let him do his skeletal boost if he lands the trance because if nrs doesn't that move will never see the light of day, it's just too slow.

I wouldn't mind still having Cyrax's bomb trap, but an integral part of his game? I don't think so.
 
Bomb trap imo was just a easy win strat. All u had to work on was bomb trap and getting to the point where u can initiate it in a match and it became about as powerful as some xrays. U could be worse off at reading ur opponent. Worse at footsies etc. But if u landedx ur bomb trap urit evened it up in a hurry. Now I have beaten cyraxes who use this strat but its one of those strats that were quite difficult to effectively avoid. I also howeverf think cyrax is nore then just that. This change will allow him to shinle as opposed to being carbon copies with the same strat of "land the trap"

I've heard some tournament-level Cyrax players get a bit worried that he's gonna be pretty weak without the bomb trap and while I don't play as him really I can see some of their concerns. His net, bombs, and his chest saw (his only wake-up attack from what I hear) have pretty slow recovery time, he doesn't have much in the way of mix-ups, and his anti-air game isn't that great. I think we're gonna see some serious dips in Cyrax's play for a bit unless he gets a buff. The bomb trap can stay gone but Cyrax might need something else to compensate for that loss. I'm not a big Cyrax player, so I may be reading this wrong and if so I'd love to hear from someone who does main him. I know UltraDavid seemed pretty worried about it at a recent Wednesday Night Fights and all the tournament-level Cyrax players that I've seen really build their game around that bomb trap. It'll be something interesting to keep an eye on, in my opinion.
 
If he does indeed become too weak obviously he would need buffed. id say a better wakeup option, maybe better mixups and/or air game lik eyou said, and better recovery on chest saw.

i do play csz so if his bombs are anything like cyrax's then ya there is a lot of recovery time, tho with reason as they are unblockable landmines that force you to move.
 
wow they are completely removing the bomb trap, Cyrax IMO is still a top tier player, but what does he get in return? damage reset as well? Im so sorry but taking that away is like taking away Scorpions spear, or Kabals spin, it stuns the player to pull off a combo and is readable. Every time I play a Cyrax I CAN get out off the trap simply because I know the timing to complete the inputs. Would have been great if they just nerfed the damage scaling after the grab input like how they nerfed players who are frozen then comboed, complete and udder bull and I'm not too happy with this at all. LAMMMMMMEEEEEEEEEEE not to rant sorry but jeez......*tears*
 
Anyone notice after 1.02 hitboxes are much more weird and altered, not to mention I've actually been hit out of superman man times on ridiculous moments. PS online is still ****ing junk. Lui Kangs flying kick I've been hit out of lmfao you serious? By normals

i dunno, im torn, id hate to see any char become weak. But to compare bombtrap to spear in terms of gameplay is hard for me to see. spear in cases i can deal with on reaction, i couldnt with the original bombtrap it required reading you opponent, which i think is a important part of the game, just not sure if it should extend to such a situation (best way i could think of phrasing it) I also didnt like seeing every tourney cyrax player try to do mostly bombtrap setups. it made the char kinda one dimensional. i mean, sure noob zones you, but his zoning game had a lot more involved in terms of everything going on as opposed to "land the trap" then let muscle memory do the work. I felt like it made cyrax out to be a one trick pony, tho im sure hes more.
 
ive also had nothing but positive things going on online, it operates incredibly well for me. At times i forget im playing online even.
 
I dunno dude i understand how it could be considered cheap of course, Thats fine take the bomb trap away, but if your going to take something from the character than at least open up another option for him as well, nerfing Kung Lao or changing Raiden up I can understand because they are really effective anywhere on the map. Taking out infinites from Kabal, dope, even though it would make sense it could be performed because of his speed he could even do it(depending on his user). But whats the point of Cyrax's grab input now? it will be easibly punished, and a useless move, and can't but used on wakeup, LAME. I loved Mortal Kombat because each character had unique fighting styles, some rape with combos, some with specials, others with strength like Jax or Baraka, but if NRS wants it to be an even game, taking out every little thing that people complain about we are going to have a boring lame game. I won't be surprised if they eff up the DLC characters, like Skarlett having some glitch to where if blood falls on her she gains Meter and drains yours which would be cool but ppl would complain lmfao. Whatever

Well, Cyrax's command throw is a......throw?
It works and has the same effect as any throw. You can jump punch and if the opponent blocks, you do the command throw. Also, throws are not meant to be followed by combos.

thats very true, but alot of characters have attacks or inputs that can cause their opponent to stagger, Mileenas Tele Kick, Subs 2,2 then freeze, I think they should have just made any combo after the grab alot weaker, and make it to where u cant pull of some rediculous 15 hit combo with it for 35 percent or more. But oh well whats done is done, as a Cyrax player I'm not going to need the bomb trap, only one question tho...if your timing is right after you successfully land a net on an in air opponent can you combo them right when they hit the ground BEFORE they can block? thatd be nice (considered cheap I guess?) but scorps spear can hit someone in air if timed right and can execute a combo after
 
If its anything like kanos choke its a throw that partly functions as a throw (can't roll wakeup) but it can also be blocked (functions as a hit instead od throw). But he could also only end a combo with it not start. I'm pretty sure cyraxes command throw doesn't function that way. Id have to dedicate some time to him to give any concretehideas
 
Its considered a "untechable throw". Because once used the opponent cannot roll wakeup just how a throw does. Itsz pseudo nature allows it to also be comboed into
