I main Sub-Zero, so if any of you on XBL want to experience a solid SZ, thinker, and someone who can adapt, by all means give me a friendly challenge.
Sub-Zero is all about zoning, period. I get all my combos off on people jumping in my ice clones, trading projectiles, and the other half is me mixing them up. If you never learn to stop jumping in, then you'll lose. I also "condition" my oppenents to be ready for the same move, and change it up.
Playing quality fighting games against a high rated opponent is like real-time chess. It's all in your thinking, planning ahead, and adapting your style.
Fox17, it's very clear you don't understand either the terminology of fighting games, or simply MK9. Your definitions are cross along with your logic (not to stay it'll never work) with how you probably SHOULD play sub-zero. You can do whatever you please, but if you wanna roll with the big dogs, do more research, work in the lab, and play higher ranked players. This is in no way an insult, just attempting to clarify. I play a ton of Street Fighter, thus my knowledge of fighting game terminology, analysis, and game mechanics are quite extensive with many others here who are obviously on the same page. I don't consider myself a pro, but I understand what it takes to recognize one, and be one.
Volcan Hades and AedanWolfe pretty much nailed it on the head throughout this thread imo.
Best 3 Zoners:
Noob, Sub-Zero, Ermac
Best 3 Anti-Zoners (almost anyone with a decent teleport)
Raiden, Smoke, Scorpion (although I can't remember the last time I lost to a scorpion. Most teleporters are VERY predictable, least the ones online are)
