From what I've read Rain will be amongst the first to be DLC.

Most likely like Boon said: There will be a bunch of Kratos stuff before Release. Even IF Smoke does not get revealed next, I just hope he is revealed before Release Day. On another note, Smoke could kick Sheeva's ass ANYDAY.
 
I can see Sheeva being revealed in the last couple weeks. Smoke will likely be kept secret until the actual game, as well as these two characters:

we will probably see smoke in the raiden fatality trailer...and then an awesome video like the noob one, except with sheeva, goro and kintaro or maybe even a vignette that talks about the shokan...
 
I agree with the post about the hidden select screen for chars, to a point. Remember that MK is going back to its roots, which means some crazy secrets! The arcade was so awesome for MK because we all sat around the thing, watching matches and eavesdropping about rumors on hidden characters fighting in the pit, and controller motions that had to be done at certain times during random events. Expect at least something in this vein, and because any secret char would probably be someone who aspired to that originally, I would imagine smoke or rain would fill this bill.

Sheeva will probably be mentioned next, and we may not hear of smoke or rain until the game is here and people start figuring it out. We'll see, and it won't be long now!

Some people thing this way. Rain's story from MKA was legitimately interesting. Okay so it was another Edenian backstabber.. whatever. He's half god, and the half-brother of Daegon and Taven. Legitimately he feels he should have a right to Edenia. It would be cool to see him as a boss down the line. (I know most ppl wouldn't like that Idea, but whatever.)

I agree I actually like his storyline as for this game Id like to see the originals first but there were alot of post UMK3 characters that I liked such as Kenshi and others , but there were some terrible ones

I agree, effectively, the last surprise for this game is whether or not Smoke is Human or Cyborg,

since the leaks told us Sheeva was in, and we already know what she looks like.
They wouldn't kill the hype train a month before release.

None of what he mentioned in that post was spoilers.

Sheeva was shown in Raiden's vignette, and speculation about Smoke being Human or Cyborg, is just that.
It's just speculation.
