I could have swore they said he fell asleep in his house and his weed garden caught fire. And since there was no ventilation he became Smoke. I guess I read it wrong.

I know what you mean. I have the same issue remember what was official and what wasn't. Therefore, unless directly asked, I don't say anything lol.

I realize this. But, you know how some of the people are. You mention one thing and then they shoot their jaw off about something they read in the spoiler section. I just wanted to give everyone a friendly reminder.

I'm being as careful as I can, when I read the threads, because MK 9 is only a month away and I want to play MK 9 without knowing the spoilers.

That 26th slot on the normal roster is pretty empty there..... and technically Rain is the only one missing from the roster from UMK3. But Rain was spotted in this video in his old character model(like Tanya, Lei Mei, Frost and a bunch of other cameo only characters):

Is Ed Boon just trolling us and Rain is actually part of the 26 character roster? And if not then who in the world is that 26th slot.....

And I know this has all been said before but I felt it was proper to post this here so more people could speculate.
Either way Rain will be DLC, but it's just flat out odd that the math isn't adding up for the characters. Could one of the secret characters be in the 26 character roster? Could be.

yep, Rain could fits perfectly in the last 26th slot, and all the remaining "hidden, secret, etc whatever" chars could come in additional slots appearing on select grid screen only when you unlock each one of them ..... so, IDK, maybe , Rain really will be DLC, or a very remote possibility : a "last minute" addition in the roster, and Ed & company are keeping this (Rain) as a super ultra secret so far (lol !)

We only will know when the game is released.

Theoretically no, we're talking about characters who are 100% confirmed, based on several sources: official videos, interviews, photos, leaks, etc. The characters who are playable since the beggining.

The supposedly "secrets" chars will remain that way : secret and to be unlockable later, and doing the math, not counting the supposed secret bosses (and maybe playable) as well, the regular characters are all here, and we have a empty slot (26th), if indeed, we have 26 in the final version.

Could be very strange having in the select screen 25 filled slots, 2 DLCs , and a empty slot there, with nothing on it, hum ...... :sneaky:
 
I don't underatand people thinking Sheeva will be revealed. She was revealed, they did the same thing with Baraka and Shang Tsung, just showed a pic of them and assumed they were confirmed, and then began showing tidbits of thei gameplay without much surprise, unlike Kabal, for instance. She was revealed, people, and after sometime, the'll begin showing some of her gameplay, but not as a character reveal.

This is a good point. Perhaps Kabal was the last official character reveal. (Well, aside from everything they intend on showing for Kratos.) Sheeva will likely get more gameplay footage.

Exactly this.
Sheeva will see some gameplay sonner or later but she won't get a full on REVEAL like some of you are thinking. The vid she's in will be of her getting massacred by Raiden or something.

To be brutally honest though, I really doubt we'll be getting much cool crap anymore. All that's left on the widget is:

Raiden's Fatality Trailer. Who will he be fighting? Baraka? Sheeva?
Shao Kahn's Vignette. Who will he be fighting? Raiden? No one new most likely.
Shao Kahn's Gameplay. Again probably nothing new except obviously seeing how Shao Kahn is going to kill us.

Don't think Smoke will get revealed until release day. So I think the best we could hope for is some Sheeva gameplay at this point. And it'll be of her getting her ass kicked by someone like Raiden.

yeah, Sheeva probably will be showed through the next videos, not as an exclusive revelation with a video dedicated to her , but, as part of combos/gameplay videos and so ..... well, what matter the most is showing her somehow, even if she ends being a "punch bag" to show others characters videos, more or less like Reptile is being treated .... hehe

I think the great big final revelation(s) will be in fact : Kratos and Smoke.

Kratos as a exclusive PS3, to promote the game for the customers/players of this system;

Smoke as the last one character to be showed, and the most requested so far at this point, I guess ....

Wait a minute...Smoke WASN'T bitten by a radioactive pack of newport menthols, which gave him his super powers? bah, my MK mythos is all messed up...I thought this was SO canon...
 
There is roughly a month until release. If we look back at the last 1 1/2 months, we see that a lot of info and characters were shown, and the news and hype has a big momentum, especially with the demo.

2/8-Lui Kang
2/10 Kano, Shang Tsung
2/21 Noob Saibot
3/2 Challenge Tower, Test your Sight/Luck/etc
3/8 PS Plus Demo
3/15 Raiden movie/PS Demo
3/17 Kabal
That was a pretty packed month and a half.

I think they are going to continue to give us news right up to release. There's MUCH more to show than just Smoke and Sheeva.

They have 32 days which they can pack in:

-Shao Kahn reveal/gameplay in Story mode

-other mid-boss reveal/gameplay

-Sheeva reveal/fatality

-Smoke reveal/fatality

-Kratos gameplay - this will be promoted heavily, maybe in a commercial

-Xbox demo release

-Xbox exclusive character

-Story Mode teaser/reveal

-Online modes teaser/reveal

-new stage and/or stage fatality shown

-new renders/wallpapers of Kabal/Kratos/Raiden/Noob/Kano/Shang Tsung/Jade/Sindel/etc....

They can pack this last month full of stuff.
