BANALITY
...just for a note...notice the word TITLE, which means not a single game, but all games of the series! so don't confuse...i decided that it would be right to make poll like that, instead of making you choose between games that isn't came out yet (like MVC3 or MK 2011), so you could choose what you know and play and recognize already, so you could judge...
...note: choose only ONE game, which you categorize as undisputed your ABSOLUTELY best!
...also i wanted to put Darkstalkers, King Of Fighters and Rival Schools to the poll list, but i decided to put OTHER as 10th option of this poll, so that people who likes other fighting game, that isn't of those 9 could choose "other" instead and comment...
 
I have a much larger history with Mortal Kombat, but yeah I voted for DOA. Just loved the engine and story. Never put so much time into a fighter online as I did with DOA2 and DOA4. Crossing my fingers till they bleed for DOA5.

oh yeah! thats actually VERY serious! i'll send poll results to Boon's team, so that they would know whom to blame in case if MK won't win as the result of this poll...calling Harada and Ono now to warn them...

Seriously, though, SF has had more better games than MK. 3D MK is balls. 2D MK owns.
 
Tekken. I just love the series. T3 broke the clunky 3D fighter traits back in 97 with technical improvements such as instant recoveries, decent collision detection, and smooth movement. 3D movement was a novelty and rare enough prior to that.
 
I am a MK fanboy:DD.

But I do play Tekken, Marvel Vs Capcom, and Smash Bros. But not as good as you guys. I play like a causal player on those games cause I am only good at MK and Smash Bros fighting game wise. But I am not into Smash Bros like I am to MK.

I konsider myself a MK gamer.

...what you call an improvements actually annoys me those most, whati liked about Tekken 1 and 2 not present in 3 etc...i don't like those CHANGES...

Characters were absent and came back in TTT, that's about all there was to miss (TTT is still the most popular game in the series). Unless you really liked the unresponsive controls, dodgy collision detection and juggles, floaty jumps, slower gameplay, and strictly 2D plane. Bear in mind that I'm 31 so I played those games in the arcades during their heyday and T3 was a pivotal title in 3D fighters in the sense that it played as smoothly as 2D games. It got even SF legends like John Choi and Alex Valle on board. Valle was one of the best players in the US at the time too up to TTT.

T1 & 2 had better thematic music, I'll give you that much.

Forgot a shoutout to Rival Schools. The pseudo 3D Alpha 2 with insanity to boot.

...damned i just forgot about that one, sure as hell wanted to put it in a poll...i enjoyed this game so far, almost as much as MK, the only reason i couldn't ever execute such crazy combos and finishers like other people, which post videos on youtube...that remained beyond myself to pull off till the day...

I'd have to say Mortal Kombat, with Tekken not far behind. About the others, I haven't played, except for a small experience in Dead or Alive 2, and a small and hated experience in Street Fighter. And MvC3, I'm gonna get it, so I still have to judge it.
