"Looks like there will be a little God of War in your Mortal Kombat next year. Check after the break for details on the upcoming exclusive deal for the Playstation 3.

Mortal Kombat has seen quite a few changes, mishaps, and styles over the long history of the franchise. After a not so well received Mortal Kombat vs DC Universe hit the market, Ed Boon and the Mortal Kombat franchise are looking to rebound with an exclusive character on at least one of the consoles.

Thanks to the January issue of the Official Playstation Magazine, we've learned just who that character is. When Mortal Kombat drops next year in March, Playstation 3 owners will be able to use an exclusive character none other than Kratos himself from the God of War series. Not only will Kratos be featured in the game, he'll have his own fatalities, combat moves, and his very own God of War themed combat arena.

While Kratos will be featured in the game, he won't be a playable character in the story mode. We're rather happy to see Kratos make his entry into the Mortal Kombat series, as he's known as one of the more iconic members of the Playstation 3 family and he loves violence.

The January issue of the Official Playstation Magazine will go on sale later this week, be sure to pick it up to catch all of the details on Kratos and more."

Oh Christ. I wonder if they're gonna do the same thing they did with Soul Calibur. Is Master Chief gonna be in the 360 version?

I guess he'll be a good addition to the line-up. He certainly fits the atmosphere of the game, but I just don't like this for some reason.
 
Two of my favorite franchises just got better if you ask me. Soul Caliber's Kratos was a really well rounded character. Lets see if the Mk team can top them.
 
Ugh... Why? Kratos... Really? If Quan Chi is in the game we're gonna have two bald and pale lunatics.

I never liked Kratos. His character is always whining and grunting and he has a ridiculous voice. I got through God of War and was like, okay... That's fine. But an hour or so into GOW2, I was like - JUST SHUT UP ALREADY YOU WHINY PRICK!

Kratos makes me want to crack skulls. In a bad way *puzzled look*

He also reminds me of my ex. My ex loved GOW. He dragged me to the opening of GOW3 where everyone was dressed like Kratos. And now this punk-ass character is in Mortal Kombat?! It feels like someone I don't like just grabbed my nads and called me 'sugar babe'.
 
the word "Lame", comes to mind. shortly followed by "sold out" and " wow! too bad NAMCO didn't think of that". yeah, right now I'm glad I bought an xbox. that is really cliche. way to suck up to sony NR. yeahhhhh!!

I am seriously so happy about this. Kratos is such a great match for MK, more so than any other exclusive character IMO.
Can anyone imagine how much bigger MK just got? I foresee an ocean of spammers on the VGA site now...

KRATOS...I think having him as an exclusive character only can only help redeem the franchise to its Gory days. My mind is going crazy with possible fatalities that he can do. I mean i k ow fatalities arent anything new but Kratos had finess n passion in his kills. (Taking a grown man n just ripping them in half) like i said thats nothing special but just the fact that its Kratos makes it all the better for me!
 
yeah all u haters are just jealous the ps3 is the lead platform. and its 3d too.fighters are terrible on 360 the dpad is aweful. you can feel the 360 people whining. i love it.

Who gives a shit about Sony VS M$? What makes you think it's got anything to do with brand loyalty?

I dunno what it is, but this just has a crappy vibe, and I would feel the same if it were a 360 exclusive, too.

1. I own a ps3...and I think this is a terrible idea

2. Unless you have 3d TV, there's not going significant difference between the two...

3. I play SF and BB on a 360 dpad everyday...It works fine once you get used to it...

Conclusion: You don't know what you're talking about

I don't care about Sony vs Microsoft, but I'm sure thats what will fuel many MS fans dislike over this. No one can tell me there aren't going to be some annoyed fan boys, that is inevitable.

Really with characters like Goro, Motaro and the Elder Gods etc Kratos does seem very fitting for me. And who on earth wouldn't want to see a battle between Kratos and Shao Kahn? I remember seeing a video of some guy approach Ed Boon about this ages ago, I'm so happy to see it confirmed now.
