Further characters to be revealed?

Is the roster complete with those we've seen in the newest trailer? Probably not since there weren't that many fighters in it.
So who do you think are we missing, and do you think we will get any all new characters?
I believe there will be no new characters and that these fighters, among others, will be revealed:

Scorpion
My favorite character and he is obviously a given. Why did they not show him in the trailer? Well it seems they are saving him or he just isn't completely finished yet. I look forward to seeing him appear.

Liu Kang
It is intriguing that he is not in the trailer, but still I can't imagine they would do a reboot without him. I don't care much for him though.

Kitana
I believe that actor resume already leaked her. It's got Mileena so it wouldn't surprise me if their storylines will be connected in the same way they have been in the "old" series.

Shang Tsung
Yeah he appears on a throne in the background in the trailer where he is old once again, but I still think he'll be in. I imagine it'll work similarly to Shao Khan and his throne, where he would simply disappear from the throne if he was in the arena. It could also be that he is NOT in as a playable character but is central to the story. He sure is right there in the middle of an arena sitting on a throne so he must have some purpose.

Besides those guys you have mentioned, I bet we are missing these characters who are from MKT that will most likely be in this game:

JADE (one of my most favorites)

Goro
Kintaro
Ermac
Rain
Kabal
Sindel
Motaro (4 legs)
Sheeva
Khameleon (She has a very good storyline in the MK universe.)

These characters are the ones who I'd want to appear but most likely won't since MK9 is a reboot.

Nitara (The only vampire in the MK universe we mostly know of and is another one of my favorites.)
Tanya (She is one of my favorites.)
Li Mei (Another favorite and a very notable character in the MKDA-MKA era.)
Kenshi (Another very notable character in the MKDA-MKA era.)
Kia and Jataaka (I'd want them to become playable as boss characters teaming up with each other.)
Sareena (I like her style too.)

Characters that should make an appearance but not as playable characters:
Kira (Already is chained up in the Battle Arena of Shao Kahn.)
Definitely ALL the MK characters that won't be playable in this MK game.
 
No way is it complete. Scorpion can't not be in the game, especially when they just released the logo for their new studio which features his silhouette. They may very well just want to make a big deal out of his unveiling.

I'll still cling to the hope that Kitana will pop up eventually, though.

You're off by a year :p Of course, we then found out that MK3 was a rushed game and UMK3 was the full version.

Given that he's Boon's favorite character, I'm sure he'll be in. I'm still cautious about the game itself... I really did buy all 3D games upon release last gen and only kept Deception for reasons other than the actual fighting. Seeing some old backgrounds re-done in 3D was a treat though, and the new game is certainly giving some nostalgic vibes.
 
It doesn't come out till March, I'm thinking only a few will not be in it from first three games. Maybe Sheeva, Stryker and Sindel but I want em all.

That was before Boon said they'd never have another MK without male ninjas, too. If he and human smoke are in it, I hope they're enough different to justify the existence of both.

I think they're gonna include all of the characters from UMK3, while adding maybe 4-6 new characters. I don't see any characters from the post-UMK3 games making an appearance, either. This is an obvious attempt to win players over where the series went sour, and having such characters in it wouldn't work toward that end.

This thing is almost a year away from release and that's only a minute-long clip, so there's a lot left out. I'm certain we'll see a LOT more content at E3, too.
 
Hmm, Kenshi is in the back ground on Pit II along with Dairou, Taven and Deagon.

It's hard to tell when this game takes place. A lot of people on others sites are under the assumption that the game is a reboot.

I'd say any character is possible at this point.

It has been confirmed it is a reboot. Which is why the stories will probably differ slightly from the original, allowing Kenshi, Daegon and Taven a place in the story right from the start :P

i wouldn't be so negative , kira is in the game in some sort of way and she made her debut in DECEPTION . so characters you want in their might be .
 
i hope quan chi is in it. hes like too important of a character to just leave out. onaga should make some sort of appearance to. i am really hoping for some new characters.

OMG! some people need to be better informed!
Quan-chi wont be in, Boon said it himself that its a reboot, and he also mentioned some time ago that, it wont have the number of characters as in MK 1, but it will also not have the amount of characters more than UMK 3.
A reboot also means, what i see with the playable characters, like Kenshi, and Dairou they are on the bridge, but believe me we will have around 17/18 characters MAX, that includes maybe 3 hidden ones, like i am almost sure you will have to unlock SMOKE (if he is actually in), as a hidden character.
Ed did also mention in some of his posts, and other stuff that he released on the internet, that he is listening to the fans, but sometimes i just dont understand, every forum i look @, people go like, MAKE IT LIKE ARMAGEDDON, omfg please no, no CAC and all of that BS, it seems people that say something like that haven't really played any other mk, then the last 2 lol. Believe me, they wont put onaga in, he doens't fit in the story line "Mk 1 - Umk 3"
Reading on the web and thinking about all the info thats out, and other hints at the game, fans have been asking to have all of the secrets in the game again, for instance "secret fatalities, like shang tsungs Kintaro morph" or maybe like only use low punch for like 30 seconds, hints inside the game, it is going to be amazing, i have a feeling some of that will make it in! atleast i hope, and March is so far away :(

Eh? He said Armageddon not UMK3, right? Also, it is a reboot and not a remake so Quan Chi CAN in fact be in. Or anyone for that matter. I really hope they make Downloadable Content this time (which they probably will) so we can possibly have some newer characters after the release of the game.

While I agree with what you say and that Onaga shouldn't be in, he still has a chance since the story could be radically different.

Yeah March is far away but at least we'll get news more often than we have had in recent time, and don't forget MKasts have been confirmedl! :grin:

If there's only going to be about 20-25 of the same old tired characters, then this game better have some sweet downloadable content with it. Otherwise, I'll likely keep it for 3 months tops, get any many achievements as I want and sell it right back.

I thought he meant all characters that were in the games untill MKT, so the last one was UMK3, but i had also heard, i dont remember where, but he said something like "Mk 9 will feature more then mk 1 characters, but maybe the same amount as mk 2" so i thought damn that makes it 12 characters max, if they would, i mean it doesn't have to be a bad thing, because there could still be like 4 hidden characters plus, like i said before alot of secrets, that keep you coming back, than haven't talked about the new Tag Team, i mean thats just insane, think about it playing online with 3 other friends OH MA GAWD :D

Yeah i totally agree with you on that one! I am actually hoping for not to much changes though, it would be epic, if they mixed the 1st the 2nd and the 3rd up for one hell of a long story, and i am actually thinking that they are doing this right now, i mean look for an instance, Shang Tsungs level, he sits on the throne, but i am a 101% sure that he will be playable, BUT BUT! WE also have Shao Kahn introduced as a boss/character, so it would never be able to be the story that the first one had, or ONE HELL of a long story ( it would be beautiful xD )

Totally forgot about Mkast, lol i was just to over excited when i finally laid my eyes on the new trailer lol
 
I actually don't want 20+ characters because thats when characters start repeating stuff. If I look at say Soul Calibuer, I think how lacking the last game was... The styles had differences between then, but there were so many simulair styles... It made the game the blandest in the series. :-/

MK4 marked the decline for the series in both gameplay and story. (For most people, at least.) Boon himself has said this is a response to fans who've been asking for a new game more in line with the series' roots. With that in mind, I think by "reboot", he is meaning this is going to not only follow the 2D gameplay and fatalities, but follow from where the story in MK3 went awry, too.

Shang Tsung is a given for this game, and since Shinnok was essentially a replacement for Tsung, he won't be making an appearance. Same thing with Ermac and Reiko. There may be some "after MK3" characters that make it, but I don't think so, and for the most part, I hope not.

True. If Smoke is in it, I hope they do something to prevent him from essentially negating the use of Scorpion.
