God of War III

Bah, I get mine on the 18th. You guys always get everything first. You guys get it about a day earlier, considering time differences.

I get mine on Thursday. I have Uni on that day, so I can't play it immediately. I'll be sitting in class staring at the box instead of paying attention to the lecture.

Closer to 2 days, actually. We get it on the 16th, and alot of people get it at midnight :)

This game better deliver. Even after all i've seen, i dont see how it can upseat U-2 for best game on the console.
 
U-2? I suppose I really will have to play that won't I....I didn't much care for the first one in the gameplay department. But I bought a PS2 for God of War 1/2 and I've already got a PS3 now or I'd be out there buying one for God of War 3.
 
Well my amazon.com shipping date says estimate march 18th. But i hope they are wrong...you would think with 1 day shipping i would get it at least on the 17th. Oh well, i dont mind that much. But i know its going to be epic. Really the only reason i got a PS3 was for GOW3, and the GOW collection.

LOL that's it? Where's the post cards, DLC papers etc? Our Aussie edition has less than what you get!
 
Did the midnight launch thing, thinking that I'll be one of the few people there since I'm in the suburbs. Nope... nearly a 100 people there with a couple of Sony reps present too.

Took nearly 10 hours to finish and I'm glad to say that this is the most balanced game in the series. Great mix of action, puzzles, and platforming. Not to mention that it definitely takes the crown from U2 as the prettiest game out there; it's eye sex from start to finish. The AA method (morphological anti aliasing) in particular is incredible with very few aliasing only noticeable in bright edges in distances. That said, some people may prefer U2's brighter, more colourful look and the animation blending in that one makes things look a bit smoother.

Glad I skipped on the CE though.
 
I got the UE and yeah its a bit of a downer that the music and documentary is DLC. Took me 6 hours to download the HD version of the documentary, 3.3GB big. But i bought it mainly for Pandoras box, dominus outfit, and the Challenge of Exile. I already beat the game and it was really good. I dunno if im satisfied with the ending though. Maybe its just over my head on what happened. But the game is really beautiful. I wish GOW1 and 2 were made like this on PS3. LOL. The art style of the few cinematics, like the beginning are very nice. Also there is an area near the end of the game that just looks awesome, you will know what i mean when you see it. Its not like anything in the game. But its really a great game and im glad i bought a PS3 just for this.
 
Loving the game so far. But the Aussie collectors edition is a ****ing joke. 3 cards, voucher which is worth shit, and a t-shirt. Whoopty doo!

Agree. I assumed that it came with Pandora's Box. When I went to the GAME store, I was very disappointed.
 
I just beat it on titan difficulty, giving me my last trophy. So i got the platinum trophy. Much harder to get than the COW Collection platinum trophies. Titan difficulty is pretty hard. There are two fights near the end that really made it tough, and they werent even boss fights. LOL. Anyway.... if you get the platinum trophy you get a URL to the website HTTP://WWW.SPARTANSSTANDTALL.COM I guess this has to do with people getting platinum trophy.
 
I'm on my Chaos playthrough now. Almost done. The Satyrs are such *****es. I'm up to the Labyrinth Cyclops fight. Gah!
 
So, just how difficult is the game on Chaos difficulty? I played through on God mode. Which was cake *rolls eyes*

Is it really worth the effort to play through and complete it on harder levels?

Guys, I love the game, it's SEX, but I feel a little let down as well. Either of you getting that feeling as well? Or is it just me? I dunno, so long in the making, yet the climax is hmmm... I think I just hate to see Kratos and this fantastic gaming series actually end. I want MOAR!
 
Chaos Mode is literally Chaos Mode. Off-screen and on. I was so pissed just now but I finally defeated the large Skorpion. I can't wait for the Cerberus+Satyr fight. *shrugs* Going to take a break. That fight took more than an hour.

I'll have to agree on the ending. It wasn't as in-your-face as I expected. But still a great end to the Trilogy nonetheless.
 
What are your guys thoughts on the ending, moreso the end scene after the credits get done rolling?

Im not sure what to think. I dont see how Kratos lives after that. But you see blood go to the end of the cliff. Did he crawl over there and jump off like in the begining of GOW1?
 
Well, I've gotten it and beaten it once, on normal. That was a mistake, normal was piss-ass easy. Should have started on hard. I thought I'd need a little time to get back into shape since I haven't played GoW2 in forever, but it was real easy to get the hang of again. I guess it's like riding a bike.

I have absolutely NO incentive to play through on Chaos though. No reason at all. I don't do harder difficulties for no reason and I'm not a trophy whore. GoW1 and 2 had unlockables costumes and extras for beating the game on harder difficulties but this game has nothing! One extra costume? Bullshit! At least with the Ultimate Edition I get the challenge of exile and Dominus outfit. I haven't been able to get my music though...the website keeps giving me an error page. Besides, I freaking LOVE my Pandora's Box. It's amazing and I'm glad I spent the money.

If they release costumes as DLC I'm not going to be a happy camper...but off that gripe for a moment (I want my fishy Kratos again!) I'm having an eensy bit of trouble with some of the trophies. I ended the game missing the last upgrade for the Nemesis Whip and Head of Helios. In GoW2 I rounded off my upgrades by doing the challenges, but this time the challenge orbs don't carry over to the main game as far as I can tell. How are you supposed to get enough orbs to upgrade all the weapons for the trophy?

Also has anyone here beaten the "Children of Hades 2" or whatever it's called with the 5 chimeras? I can't get that last one...got it down to the final circle prompt when I ran out of time once, but that's in 4 tries.
 
I was able to upgrade every weapon in both my play throughs, on easy and titan.

Challenge of Exile....i still need to beat the Hades kids 2. Man its really annoying. Especially when they are in the last stage and just run from you.

The other one i need is the one where the weapons change every 30 seconds. I dont think you get anything for beating it though.
 
AH! I'm on my final Zeus fight on Chaos now. So close. The Cerberus/Satyr fight was almost impossible. It took me 4 hours to complete it. Once I'm done, I have to play through again to get the rest of the Achievements.

I don't know how you did it. Maybe you have a higher average combo counter? I tend to use power attacks and quick in/out movements so I never really build a high combo. I tried to use the Nemesis Whip's insane aerial combos to build it later in the game but I still didn't have enough...there's no way to really "farm" EXP is there? Also, the cheat code that turns off Trophies but gives you 9x red orbs...what if I use that, turn it off, then upgrade my weapons? Would that work I wonder?
