is this the last mk?

This is the final tournament on this generation of consoles [wii not included]. Boon said he was going to continue onto the new PS3 and 360 systems.
 
It just won't be the same without all the history behind it.

There will be new characters and everything. Taven and Daegon are likely to be there though.
 
Im guessing Scorpion, Sub-Zero, and Taven are locked for the next MK game. Even though i think Daegon was cooler, but isnt always the bad guys cooler? :) I just hope Quan Chi, Baraka, and jade live on. They can always make new Shokan characters, at least i hope they do...or let goro or Kintaro live.
 
I remember hearing about this being the final tournament. I'm not sure on the details, but I think it's the last tournament with all the fighters we're familiar with. Liu Kang, Shao Kahn, etc. There story will end here, but I'm not sure...
 
This is the last MK on current gen systems such as PS2 and Xbox. Mortal Kombat 8 (Or whatever it will be called) will be on the PS3 and Xbox 360 with mostly new characters. Only a few will survive, and we don't know who. Definately Sub-Zero and Scorpion, but no one knows about the others exactly.
 
Meat was surprisingly good in MKA, his teleport grab combo (which the CPU used ad nauseum) was quite powerful.
 
From what I've gathered, this is not the final MK game. However, it is the final MK to be on the current gen systems, as well as the final MK game that will use any character that we're familiar with. MK8 will be all new story, all new characters, and all new everything. I specifically remember someone from the development team (not sure if it was Boon or someone else) saying that it's going to be weird for them to be working on an MK game without Scorpion or Subzero since they've been there since day one. So yea, dont expect to see ANY familiar faces.

I heard from the local gossip (y'all) that some were coming back.

And, in the next game, will there be a Mortal Kombat tournament? Or just a bunch of fighting?
 
The next game will be called "Mortal Kombat Resurrection" And everyone who died in MKA [everyone, lmao] will be brought back to life via some BS story where Meat will rule over all of everyone and everything, because he's the man, and he turns Outworld into Butchers World. Him and his Brotherhood of Beef. :mrgreen:
 
This MK Is Gonna Be A Big Sale In The Stores. Boon Is Gonna See How Good This MK Is Doing In Terms Of Sales And Be Down To Make Another MK Game. I Doubt He'll Kill Off All Of The Characters Though. I Mean Each MK Player Has There Own Favorite MK Combatant. MK Fans Will Move On If They Kill Off There Fav. Character. But They Will Always Be Like "If Only So And So Was In This MK Game".

Lol, Brotherhood of Beef. Sounds like an online clan name.

I'm hoping for Scorpion's son to be a fighter in the next one, continuing Scorpion's story.
 
They can always bring characters from the Komix into the MK gaming world.

How about Gorbak? He's another Shokan. I'd also like to see Hydro and that mechanised Shokan. Ying and Yang, remember them? Tremor as a proper character with all his own moves including the tremor smash and tremor projectile etc. There's alot of unknown variables that can be implemented in the next game. So much so, that I'm sure there will be more than a few surprises. I just want a real Centaur back. Not necessasrily Motaro. Maybe a whole new one.
 
Well I don't know if I could bring myself to play the game if Sub-Zero isn't in it :( I do think it's time for a reset though. I mean we all know Scorpion will be back no matter what they say. Because even if all these fighters are destroyed, how many times has Scorpion been to hell and back? Yeah exactly. Let's hope Shujinko dies a horrible, horrible, death. Also how could they rid themselves of Quan Chi, Shang Tsung, Raiden, and Onaga? Didn't all four of them survive that hellacious blast Raiden used at the beginning of Deception?

I have been yelling high and low to get another regular mortal kombat tournament. Nothing of a trap, or anything like that. Just another Mortal Kombat One type game. Focus completely on the fighting. I mean if it was an actual tournament then I wouldn't mind two good guys fighting each other. I mean the last three games have all been about good and evil and people picking sides and such. Yet when you're fighting in Arcade mode you wind up fighting people on your own side?

I mean my first run through of Deadly Alliance, Deception, and Armageddon were all with Sub-Zero. Yet 75% of the time I'm fighting people like Bo' Rai Cho, or Kitana. Where's Scorpion? or Reptile? Shang Tsung? Quan Chi? Nah, I'm fighting Johnny Cage, and Raiden. Because you know, it's neccessary to kill your own team members to win!

Now, in Mortal Kombat One, it wasn't like that. Because you could run through it with Lui Kang, kill Sonya and Johnny Cage and think to yourself "Hey, it's a tournament, may the best fighter win." you can't think that now because it's become a good vs. evil thing.

This is the kind of stuff that makes me cry :(
 
Screw the story that Midway has given us. Someone should just take all these characters, write all new bios, alliances, enemies, etc. That'd be nice and fresh.
 
Dude, it will not make sense if shujinko isn't in the next gen MK game, because ed boon
said that he was the next generation liu kang!!! i'f they kill him off, than y did they create him?
