Like Shredder Sub-Zero was one of my favorite looks for him.
Oh god, I hated Shredder Sub-Zero. :barf:
As much as I disliked pony-tail Sub-Zero, as well, I'd take that ANY DAY over Shredder Sub-Zero.
I don't see why people wan't characters from other IPs, yet complain about no originality in characters.
Same goes for Kobra.
I don't want Sub-Zero looking like another character from another IP, and if Kobra does come back, I don't want him looking like Ken either.
I wast these characters to be "original" to MK.

as long as it's not along the line of turning someone cyber ala Sub-Zero. That's a little too far.
Agreed.

Back in the day, the only reason we had different colored "ninjas" was because the general public considered them "cool" and we're fairly uneducated on what they really were. MK characters have evolved more than that now, perhaps the masks could remain for a few characters like Scorpion (since he is actually a Ninja) and maybe Ermac ( a character where the "mystecism" is actually there). I find no reason for Rain, Smoke, Reptile etc to continue wearing their masks, there are much better, logical and creative ways to evolve them rather than sticking to an outdated, faulty concept.
How do you know that the general public still doesn't consider them "cool" and still like them?
You're assuming that wearing masks is an out dated character concept, it may not be.
1990's pallet-swapped MK ninjas IS an out-dated concept, but MK9 (and the other MK games after Trilogy) proved that you can have different colored ninjas wearing masks and STILL have them look completely different.
Rain could still be masked, as he may not want to reveal to others that he's a prince.
Given that he's an Edenian prince, he could be trying to hide his face from the likes of Kitana and Sindel (if they come back in MK10).
I agree with you on Smoke, given that he was revealed to be an enera.
Reptile should stay with his mask on.
It's 2012 and they STILL don't have his reptilian look right.
Ermac is more of a mummy now, as someone else mentioned, and less of a ninja in MK9.
