Will someone switch sides in MK9's story arc?

It's less about bad and good and more about what team you wanna play for. Kano (in the movie) was helping Shang Tsung. He was an Earth Realm Character providing support to outworld. If given the chance to gain immense power Kang would take it. But would redeem himself in the third act. Kang isn't set to just be a good guy, he's a human and exploiting a potential weakness not only would make for a unique storyline but would make kang less on dimensional.
 
I'd like to see Kano get rescued by the Jax from Kahn's dungeons. Kano becomes a member of the Special Forces out of gratitude and Kabal becomes the leader of the Black Dragon. They then have a rivalry.
 
Maybe I've been watching too much wrestling, but I think it'd be interesting if a shadow faction emerged from within the two waring "good" and "evil" factions. Like for example, somewhere in the midst Kano, Kung Lao, Goro, and Jade formed an alliance to take over EarthRealm, Outworld, the Netherrealm, and Edenia....they saw through the good vs. evil nonsense and realized that if they came together as one force, they could both end the war by defeating both side, and conquer all of the realms (so there would be a good, and not so good reason for it), but it would catch both sides completely off guard and the good and evil warriors would have to put aside their differences to battle this new threat.

I've always been a fan of the angle of a shadow third party that kind of gets hinted at but you don't know who it is, and some of the people turn out to be your allies. I think that would be an extremely interesting plot twist.

And it doesn't have to be those 4 I named, or even limited to 4 (could be 3, could be 5, 6, or whatever). Any combination of good and evil warriors that would make sense and you could build a story around I think would be a great plot twist for the next game (and something that would be an awesome ending for this one).

It would be Deadly Alliance taken to the next level. Deadly Alliance was great, but it was still two super evil guys. What if DA had been Liu Kang teaming up with Shang Tsung instead of Quan Chi? Every being has a dark side, even Liu Kang, no matter how small it is. Imagine Shang being able to tap into that somehow (telling him that if they conquered the realms together, he would finally be able to have his revenge on the murderers of the White Lotus).

I think finding a way to bring Shang and Liu closer to common ground (both giving a little from their good/evil tendencies, to become more neutral) would have made a much more dynamic story and pairing for end bosses in that game.

That's the kind of ground that I think could take Mortal Kombat to another level story wise, but that's also the kind of ground Boon probably will never tread on.
 
I'm wondering if Ermac will be shao khan slave and then he'll switch sides, man i hope his story will be ****ing epic, so does smoke and noob if they be in, I hope so o/
 
Well I hope the Lin Kuei becomes a force for good under Sub's rule and Frost pwns people. And other minor kharacters have better roles.

Why wouldn't Kang turn against earthrealm? Seems plausible to be, and would be very interesting if it actually happened.

Liu is a Shaolin warrior, hes trained to be disciplined and noble. Hell always be on the good side. But thats not to say your idea is bad. It would be an interesting plot twist for sure, just not likely. Kung Lao seems to have a more likely chance of switching. What id really like to see is Kung Lao confronting Liu, angered that he didnt have a chance to be the MK champ. Or maybe Kung Lao just wont hold back if he has to fight Liu during the MK2 part of story mode.

Are you kidding? Do you even know who Liu Kang is?

Him turning against Earthrealm would be the most ridiculous and out-of-character thing in a Mortal Kombat game ever.

I am in agreement with you there my friend, But I am sure that Liu will be killed off again, with this being an alternate time-line.. I just have a bad feeling that he will lose his way, or become full of himself, I have a feeling also that with this installment of MK, we will be introduced to a "Darker" perhaps even "Evil" Liu Kang.. I have been on Liu's side from the get go... But something tells me that us "true" Liu Kang fans aren't going to like the outcome..
 
I could see Kung Lao turning evil with his new personality, which is based on his MKSM personality. But he would not take over Earthrealm or Outworld. He'd probably fight Liu Kang sometime and Liu would make him see the reason. And Liu Kang would never turn evil, please, he's the hero every story has, the one that wants the save the world and his friends.
 
Being a reboot/retelling, it might be interesting to see someone like Stryker switching sides. I mean who knows, maybe then he'll matter. It may just be the cold medicine talking, but I gotta be honest, it looks to me like Johnny Cage definitely switched sides in this game. Ya know like he may have done a 180 if you know what I'm sayin'. His hair, his voice.. I don't know. No disrespect to Cage fans.

Kang becoming a minion of Shao Kahn? Improbable but it could be cool to see, kind of like a Star Wars "I am your father" thing and then the fate of Earthrealm rests in the hands of.. Hornbuckle.

i would have loved it if NRS made the story mode more in depth...like giving the player options of which path to take...imagine beating the story mode one way, but if you went down another path everything changes..basically creating your own story....and if you could pick any character from MK1-MK3 to play through it.almost like what if scenarios...like what if you beat shang tsung in MK1 with johnny cage..how would that upset the the whole thought of liu kang as elder god champion...not sure how many here have played "heavy rain" but that game had like 14 different endings or something close to that..imagine that much freedom to change storylines and see different outcomes to a players choices...that for me would have given story mode great re-playability....instead we get roughly 5-6 hours of story to play through and after that then....i would love it if NRS had or would in the future implement a feature like this
