Why Kan't we all just get along?

It's only that simple against people who can't handle the basic first step. The first step is mixing up shadow upknee, slide, rush. To keep them out.

Once you are able to deal with that... then you get to fight a noob saibot's close game. until he gets a grab or a shadow up knee on you. which the process repeats itself.

Jumping in on noob is dangerous so you have to rely on dash block/teleports/ your own projectile game(if it can outplay noobsaibot) I've had problems with flying sindels)/ Or get in with a Enhanced move that has ARMOR frames like stryker's roll in attack.

sorry if you see it as mindless mixing up. Alot of thought goes into the paper rock scissor zoning. sometimes Rush is safe sometimes it's not. same for slide. Shadow upknee is reactionairy that's why you can't jump unless you activated a safe jump scenario.

I guess I hate being forced into a projectile game. I don't like to have to start spamming moves myself to counter move spamming. Guess I'm too fond of Soul Calibur's excellent pressure game. Perhaps it is a lack of skill on my part, though I consider myself halfway decent with dash blocking. I'm going to keep trying, but as for now I just deem him Noob Spambot.

yeah that's why people RAGE against noob. He forces a very awkward way of playing that isn't necessarily fun for the receiver.

but it's not simple spamming. it appears that way. there are timing windows/intervals where things are safe and things are not safe. If you have a fast enough projectile where trading is in YOUR advantage. you have a slight advantage in the projectile game.

sindel FORCES me to approach her most of the time when i'm noob lol

I always get hatemail when i beat em with ermac, even when i never spam just do good combos, haters are haters they think they make me get angry but i lol when they do it hehe

Since my connection online isn't exactly top notch, I rely on a heavy zoning game myself (not to be mistaken with spam, I do like to get in close to work my combos). Naturally though, the instant I back up and lob some projectiles it suddenly makes me a "Scrub". Just ignore the hate, and just consider it an added bonus that you beat somebody into retorting with childish insults since they couldn't beat you with skill.

I got hate mail from someone in this forum (I forget who it is now, I think I said the name somewhere in the TRMK PS3 lobby thread) and I beat him so he called me a 'bum'.

OH NOES, DUDE, PLEASE DON'T SAY SUCH A THING.

In koth matches, i always give high scores to the winner, whether they beat me or somebody else. But i've seen other players give them low scores and leave the lobby afterwards.

People get hate for playing Kitana? Shit.

I'm a Noob player, fear me. People hate Noob because alot of people don't know how to approach anyone but through jumping in, and Noob can deal with predictable jump-ins quite handily. Plus people eat his shadows on wakeup alot, and if they eat it once, they'll often eat it again, so why not do it? His teleport is a little tougher to see coming than Scorpion's but it sure as hell isn't Smoke. I try my best to use the teleslam as rarely as possible online. Hell if anything I should use it a little more. But people are always on the lookout for teleport spam. Gotta open them black holes instead...

Learning to close the gap between you and the other player without jumping in is something that separates the basic players from the intermediate players.

I NEVER give people a zero, I just rate low, but that's only if they spam. And nice job playing clean with Noob. The first time I saw someone play Noob they spammed shadow slide and shadow charge half the match.
And I agree with what some other people say, having to change play-styles because of Noob. But, since I (Kind of obviously) main Sektor, Teleport Uppercut=best anti-spam move :D

I can't use Ermac anymore without being criticized for being cheap, even though I've liked and used Ermac since UMK3  The same goes for using Cyrax. I have to purposely avoid the net move just because.

So, now I've been working hard to master Kano and Sindel, along with my already mastered Mileena and just use them from now on.

these are the effects i've seen. REALLY good players once they find a challenge they keep them making their win/loss ratio 1-1. or lose 2-5 and win 1. whatever the case the better players tend to have less than super high scores because they want to learn and you can only learn by fighting someone close to your skill or higher.

where as lower level people think it's cool to have 400 wins... they will quit when they lose to someone who dominates them and goes find someone who's REALLY bad to build up wins. So it becomes deceptive when looking at stats.

I tiotally agree as everytime i have beeen challenged by someone with a high w/l record i destroy them even with my crap characters. My record is week i dont really care about scores. I posted this whoile thing because of the Hate Mail and Crap i get over the Mic on top of KOTH scores.

AS for Noob being a spammer and easy to use i have to completely disagree. Yes he is easy to use in a basic sense but knowing his optimum style and how he works against other characters on top of the ways to use his combos i find more challenging than any other character with maybe Reptile as an Exception (who is my secondary lol). For those who like seeing a non Spammy Noob hit me up though i do use zoning, when i see opporunity i take it and love getting people in the corner for the nice combos. I am also a firm believer of if it works use it. So if a player is to stupid to figure out ways around a spam they deserve to get spammed as you can always find a way around it.

Im glad i posted this thread as it seems to sparked some good input. :)

[Oh and for the guy who likes Soul Caliber, I get ten times more hate mail on that game because i Main Ivy and know how to link all her combos.]

I main Sektor, and use Sheeva as my second.

People RQ on Sektor because of my high-damage combos.

People RQ on Sheeva because they can't believe they are losing to her

I get a lot more RQ's on Sheeva than Sektor.

Dude, upload youtube videos asap. I'm dying to see a good Sheeva player. I have yet to encounter one at all and it's pretty depressing.

Of all the characters that are labeled "cheap" and "noob friendly" Noob is probably the least offensive. He doesn't have Scorpion's unblockable Hellfire, he can't instantly combo the shit out of you from jump-distance away like Ermac, he doesn't have Smoke's teleport... All he has is his shadow spam baiting into the anti-air special, which doesn't even do much damage. If you can break that, you've broken half a scrubby Noob's game. Namely, he doesn't have much for high-priority up close attacks. His good combos have nice range but slow startup.

I also like pulling out Baraka and Quan Chi, people don't seem to know how to deal with their quick-punish good-range specials. Been having good luck with them.

I haven't even played with Kano yet but just from playing his AI, he seems like a beast. Every time I play the AI, where you can just bait his balls all day (lol), I think "Man if someone came at me with this guy online and didn't abuse the shit out of his ball... I probably wouldn't be able to win."

I don't even think using Noob is the problem, I got people in rooms starting to talk about Quan Chi being cheap (WTH!!), I've been getting lots of hate mail and 0's in koth. Whenever a player encounters a character they have problems with, they call em cheap and insult the player. You may recieve these insults amongst the greater players who have a better win ratio cuz ego plays a role in the community as well.

I'd love to hear how Quan Chi is cheap.

Also I've never even played a KOTH match cause I hear it's been laggy like no one's business and the one time I tried it, it was true. KOTH sounds like a fun concept but I get enough laggy matches in Player matches. Did the patch fix things for KOTH significantly?
