Why didn't I regain any health in Challenge 300?

I have detailed strategies that have worked for me for nearly every fighter I've used for Goro, Kintaro, and Shao Kahn (not that you'd need it for Goro)

here if anyone is interested.

I had the same problem with Mileena. She blocks more, is more aggressive in her counter attacks, and seems to deal more damage.

One thing you absolutely should do sparingly against her is jump. I've developed into a jump into combos fighter (at least against AI) and with her if you try to do that you'll get teleport kicked with her wake up attack once if you're lucky; into a nasty combo if you aren't. The youtube video I saw of someone beating her with scorpion, he walked towards her after hitting her with a combo that downed her. Once I adjusted this I was able to get past her. Also it helps to be a good counter attacker which I'm just average at. The fight with her you need to be less aggressive (at least for the few fights I've seen on youtube and the one time I did advance past her).

So those are the key points I think to beating her

* use jump attacks very sparingly, and almost never after you've knocked her down. Instead walk to approacy her.

* be less aggressive and use counter attacks. Block is your best friend here

After that, just use my cross jump/uppercut (or combo if you feel comfortable) approach to Shao Kahn. Also my strategy with Kintaro should save quite a bit of your health bar MOST fights (sometimes he's disagreeable and gets out of the cross jump pattern I've laid out). Just be wary with fighters that have quicker dashes about cross jumping Kahn too soon. If you do he'll get up facing the side you're about to land and you'll eat his attack instead of avoid it.

I think when I did beat him I started with a little over half health and was able to finish him off with probably 1, maybe 2 hits worth of health left on my end.

Also the one time I beat it I did use Scorpion. The couple of times I tried with Sub-Zero, it seems that they are able to absorb his freeze attack from behind at times, whereas scorpion's spear has almost universal 100% stun capability from behind on Goro, Kintaro, or Kahn (then lone exception I've found to this is Kintaro's ground fireball). So if you're looking for the easiest fighter with something to spam, my recommendation is scorpion and his spear,2,1,2 combo after cross jumping (that's triangle, square, triangle on PS3). It does about 12% damage and doesn't knock them back too far. The 2,1,4 combo that ends in the firey windmill kick does more damage (I believe 14%) but knocks them back too far to keep them in a good pattern I find.

I think I'll give it a try with Scorpion. I've mainly been using Smoke because his teleport punch is really effective against the first two. And I'll try and make sure not to jump as much, I tend to jump quite a bit. And as far as blocking goes, it seems like it's always disabled. That would be a huge help against Mileena if I had it...

Maybe there's a secret unlockable for beating it without using the regen or for getting a flawless on it.

Has anyone beat this without the life regeneration? That's what I'm trying to do just in case there is a chance of some other prize. I know there's no way of me getting a flawless. I've looked a few youtube videos and every one I watched had the life regeneration...

Same situation here everyone, my health regenerates after Goro, Kintaro, but NOT after Mileena....you are not alone on this one.

That shouldn't be right. Once the health regeneration starts it did it for every character for me.

For me I noticed that the enemy boosts from Kahn didn't occur nearly as often with Mileena. Could be what others have said in that when you lose enough times that, in addition to the health regenerating, that Kahn doesn't throw them out as often. That strategy I posted above is what worked for me.

As for Scorpion, IF you can land it he's got a fairly easy combo that can do some serious damage to Mileena. If you can land his teleport punch, you can do the following combo which will take somewhere in the 20% range of damage off, meaning you only need to land it 2-3 times to be in good shape (or 1-2 times depending on if you've been able to block her roll and/or teleport kick and uppercut her):

teleport punch, 1, 1, spear, 2, 1, 2. So for PS3 that's
teleport punch, square, square, spear, triangle, square, triangle

Note you can be doing the back taps for the spear right as you're starting the second 1 after the teleport punch, because the spear input is back, back, 1, so it leads right into it.

She's the only one of the four I felt comfortable comboing since she doesn't absorb hits. The others i just used the cross jump pattern.

Honestly though, if you don't want to do the health regeneration, I'd say if you're any less than 3/4 full of life by the time you get to Mileena, you should probably hit Retry, because she is absolutely going to deal some damage to average to even above average players.

I'd say if you can make it to Kahn with half life or even a little less, you've got a realistic shot at beating him with the method I described in my link I posted earlier. If you're going to err on when to cross jump him though, err on being slower. I've been surprised at some of the times I missed his hammer uppercut with a cross jump. If you cross jump him too fast though, you'll absolutely get blasted every time. Also Scorpion is fairly nimble compared to say Reptile whose dash is noticeably slower. You be the judge of the distance, but if you're close enough after one dash towards him when he's down you can cross jump him then if you're getting hit with his hammer uppercut, but again I would put a fraction of a second pause in there to be sure you don't cross jump him early. Also take caution with this because I've had times where I thought I would clear him, and somehow didn't and landed right in front of him. I opt for the 2 dash, cross jump approach with most characters.

It took me some time for trial and error for me to find the right character, but I went ahead and chose Scorpion. After 2-3 fights, I nearly flawless both Kintaro and Goro (no decreased difficulty) and right off the bat Mileena manhandled me. Took me close to an hour and a half total (close to fifteen minutes of actually using Scorpion).

I went through the whole roster trying to find someone I could use against all the bosses.

i picked mileena and played til i won

i lost like 7 times before I noticed the health regen for me. I dunno if this was stated but I noticed it doesn't give back full health, maybe like 1/3? so if you are looking for it, look carefully you may get it and its not that much. makes me wonder if there is a set range that they will allow your health to fill to?

I was so mad the first time I got to Shao Kahn I got him down to that little invisible bar of health(where you think they are defeated but OH NO they aren't) and he killed me, second time I beat him. it was a nice feeling, but there are still other challenges I skipped.

on the lower challenges do they have the same set up of if you retry a lot of times the difficulty lowers?

<After about the 5th or so retry, you begin to regain health.

If you continue to lose, you gain more health and the characters just seem to "let" you win.

This is no fun.

Lucky for me, I beat it after about 20 minutes.
