Ok so first off I hope there isn't something already on this here and I missed it, as I did a search and didn't find it. I've put in a lot of time on the game so far. As of this post I've completed all 300 tower missions, story mode, and 9 character's single player ladder on medium. I thought maybe I'd share a few hints on some of the bosses, and the lone secret fight I've unlocked so far. The below advise is for Medium difficulty and I haven't verified it will work on Hard or Expert.
Goro - Jump kick is your friend here. He's probably the single easiest "boss" in the game, if you'd even want to call him a boss. He's really a joke. Also don't jump kick right away. Instead pause for about half a second while he's getting up before you start, else he'll immediately block. If you pause before you start, you'll catch him in some animation for an attack almost every time. You can also do the cross jump/uppercut strategy if you like, but I often find that he does his for armed windmill attack often enough to take him far enough away to keep him in the same pattern you can usually keep Kintaro and Shao Kahn in. Note that while sometimes Goro will absorb the jump kick, I find its usually when you're cross jumping him, and that you'll almost always land on the otherside, away from his counter attack. If you're having trouble with him (which I don't see why you would following the above advice), use Kung Lao. Goro simply cannot handle his diagonal kick if you stand about jump distance away from him and just use that on him.
Kintaro - A little tougher than Goro. Your best friend is the cross jump/uppercut strategy. If he jumps off screen for his attack where he squashes you if he lands. Pause for a half a second before jumping diagonally backwards. He should miss you and pose leaving himself open for an uppercut (I find the backwards jump more effective than backwards dashing). Kintaro is the first boss where success is all about getting him into a pattern. That pattern being - cross jump, uppercut, two dashes towards him as he's getting up, repeat. This pretty much works on all but one of his attacks. If his attack is the fireball to the ground, I find that to be one of the times where he can absorb the uppercut, and immediately turns around and fireball you while you're defenselessly still in the uppercut animation. Not to worry though, this attack usually only comes up once, maybe twice a round. So you shouldn't lose much health here. I don't find the jump kick strategy useful because he absorbs them much more frequently than Goro does and you'll get pummeled by one of his attacks.
Shao Kahn - Kahn absorbs more blows than anyone in the game, which is why for me the cross jump/uppercut strategy is the only universal one I've found that works for every character I've tried with. Again its: cross jump, uppercut, two quick dash towards while he is down and getting up, repeat. The cross jump on Kahn is tricky and has its nuances. I notice that Kahn does a wake up hammer uppercut attack that is fast. I also notice that if you cross jump him too early when he's getting up, he'll get up facing you (which to me is suspicious enough to look into as a possible bug) and you'll basically be defenseless and you will be hit with an attack (a lot of times his rising shoulder). Based on these nuances, some matches its harder to keep him in this pattern than it is others, and I find that at least once a match he's able to get out of it and can deal some damage to you. If the pattern is correct you should have a window of about half a second to uppercut him while he's in an attack. One attack you want to keep an eye out on though is his rising shoulder. If this is his attack after the cross jump, I don't recommend trying to dash over to him and uppercut him as its risky and very likely he'll have time to face you and block you. When this happens I instead dash towards him and cross jump him again. Sometimes he'll repeat this 3, 4, 5 or more times (once in story mode I think he did this close to 10 times). Eventually he'll perform another attack and you can safely uppercut him. One other thing to note, if you somehow wind up about 3/4 of a full screen away, keep your finger close to the block button as he likes to shoulder dash at this distance and he can nail you with 2-3 of these in a row causing some serious damage.
Secret fight with Noob - Ahh, the whole reason I even wanted to type up this post in the first place. So this is probably the 2nd easiest of the four secret fights to get. I've actually fought him twice. The first time I started to notice the pattern before finding it the 2nd time and utilizing it to beat him. So this secret Noob does a LOT more damage with his attacks than the one from the select screen. One attack he's particularly fond of is the teleport slam. He's REALLY fond of using this if you're full screen away. I discovered this the second fight and had no trouble beating him. So you want to get him to use the teleport slam move to get him in the pattern. Once he does hold block and he'll hit your block and be left spinning in the air open to an uppercut. Oblige him and immediately start dashing away to full screen distance. He'll usually wake up and immediately try the teleport attack again so keep your finger near the block trigger. Sometimes he won't teleport right away and will start to try to walk towards you. If you keep dashing away though he'll eventually try the attack again. So just keep dashing away, blocking his teleport move, uppercutting him, and repeating. Even blocking his chip damage is considerable. I think at the end of a match without getting hit (or if I did it was just once) I had close to 20% of my health gone.
Again, this is only for medium difficulty on the arcade ladder, and I have yet to fight secret smoke, jade, or reptile.
I'm almost willing to drop down to beginning for the Shang fight to access Jade, but I'd prefer to try to at least try a few more days to get the double flawless on him on Medium.
If anyone has any tips on how to get the double flawless on Shang on medium to get the Jade fight please post them.
Hope you all find this helpful, and if there's a better subject this should be under, mods please move it for me.
