Why are people already discussing MK10?

Seriously. MK 9 barely came out like...3...4 months ago?

Already people are discussing MK 10 when MK 9 has barely even begun it's life cycle. Activision doesn't even announce a Call of Duty sequel that fast. xD

The developers have barely started cranking out DLC, they still haven't announced the 4th character yet, and yet I see a lot of threads like "what characters will be in MK 10?", "What changes do you want to see in MK 10?" "What's going to be in MK 10?" C'mon, let the game run it's course first. This is the first game I've ever played where, not even a half a year after the game release, people are craving a sequel. O.o

Is it the story mode ending? Is it the need to have Shinnok as a boss? Is it the fact you're afraid you'll end up paying more for DLC than just buying a new game? Or do you seriously think this game is so broken that the only way to fix it is through a sequel? Do you want a sequel sooner than later?

Please post your comments here, but try to keep trolling at a minimum. I'm seriously curious as to why people want this expansion so bad/fast.

Lol, this is a forum, speculating about the future is one of the things people who join are meant to do. Also 3-4 months is enough time to get to know everything about a game. Come MK10!!!

Yea people are just really excited to see what happens next. The new story and characters definitely make me wonder

I just want to see if my fav characters are resurrected, or if I'm gonna be stuck learning someone new.

I think it's just natural human curiosity and gives the forums some meaning. People like to talk and guess, and I don't see anything wrong with it. :S

I think the speculating is around because the MK9 story was so good and left on a cliff hanger. It'd be hard for people not to talk about the future after beating the game. I'm sure no one wants MK9's actual fighting engine to be updated to MK10, they're just concerned if their dead character will come back.

This.

It's like when you watch a season finale and have to wait more than 6 months for the next season of your favorite TV show.

I'm not saying no one is allowed to speculate. It's just damn lol. It's like 3 months later everyone's like "Alright, that's done, let's move on to the next one." NRS is barely keeping their heads above water right now, what with all the online issues and the epic DLC mayhem that's been going on lately. I figure they got a long way to go before any sequel comes out.

Besides, if they do launch a sequel, it will have to have better graphics, better gameplay, a better engine, better combos, and better fatalities before it's worth a purchase.

Also, what makes you all think none of this can be released in future DLC? (supposing NRS can have a proper launch by that time. XD) Why buy a whole new game for such a short experience?

I think the future of MK never looked brighter. So, of course the hype around future installments are at an all-time high. Its not really uncommon for any video game series really. MK9 is a true return to form and I'm glad people are already discussing for a new MK. We're all part of same compost pile. (In other words, "fans") :-P

Now do I expect MK10 anytime soon? HELL NO. And that's totally fine.

Don't you like to imagine how thing can or could be? I personally love to do this. That's why it can be very fun to speculate. Like luxul said, I don't expect (neither do I want) MK10 so soon, but I like to thing about it.

I guess I'm scared. Scared that they'll get rid of Sektor. Scared the gameplay will totally change. And most of all, scared out of my mind that theyll bring back those crappy multi-martial arts things and weapon fights. -cringe- I hope to god if MK10 is released itll be just like MK9.

It seems like, with MK: DA and Deception, they always added these unnecessary changes to a game that required none, and tried to add depth to a game that needs no depth at all. I wouldn't call it mindless fighting, but I just don't want NRS getting ahead of themselves and riding on the success of MK9 and potentially screwing up the sequel.

If they want to try 3D fighting again, I think they should make an spin off, and keep MK9 sequel a 2D fighting game.

I wholeheartedly agree. I would not want NRS to screw up the sequel. If anything I'd hope they would have more time than what they had for MK9 to create a solid sequel, rather than immediately rushing things out the door. Hell, I wouldn't even mind waiting 2 or 3 years before the next MK.

And that's why we have MK9 to begin with. They learned the lesson that the fans don't like that extra stuff they tried, and thus why it's not in this game. They're not going to make that same mistake again. They may try new things (and I hope they continue to try and improve the game), but if stuff doesn't work, they know not to keep doing it.

As for some of the speculation, Boon and company have already said certain things will not be added via DLC, as they need to save something for MK10. So if they've gone on record talking about eventually doing MK10, what's the harm in fans discussing it now? Especially when the vast majority have finished the story and have unlocked most (if not all) of the arcade endings. Yes the game's only been out for two months, but that isn't anything new. It doesn't matter the media, as soon as people are done with whatever, they immediately start discussing the next. It happens with games, TV, movies, music..... everything.

actually, it's only been out 2 months. and i completely agree with you. it's generational. no one over the age of 25 is wondering about MK 10. all the under 25's are part of this "give me more, give me more, i'm bored, i'm unsatisifed" group and MK 9 only appeased them for 2 months (the total time it's been out) and the pacifier fell out of their mouths so they resort to crying for MORE!

Because the story was so damn good and we're making predictions in what will happen next. This is a reboot isn't it? Things is gonna go down differentely.

We just love the story<33

they're just concerned if their dead character will come back.

Err not really. If you notice most of the discussions we're talking about who's gonna be the new hero, new villan, what's gonna go down with Sub-Zero, and what new role a character will play and a lot more. We're not just worried about that-__-

I think you should relax. You don't have to result to labeling people by their age group JUST because they like to speculate. What do you think forums were made for? Absolutely no one has said they're unsatisfied. Just because people like to talk and wonder doesn't make them a baby with a "pacifier". If everyone thought like you, imaginations would be hated. I've heard of people being penalized for stupidity, but never overuse of their brain/imagination.

Sheesh what is wrong with people?
