Where are all the real players?

I think an easy solution to the OP's problem is who you are playing. Make a TRMK room or go to the room if it is up and play there. Hop on Chat and let people know, and make friends with people that are on here or TYM, and/or MKU. That way at least you will have some better competition and more people that do not zone or spam the entire match.

this game isn't anything compared to street fighter. street fighter online match everyone picks ryu so you can shoot fireballs the whole match. get even more boring than this. at least everybody has projectiles in this game.

Or play DoA4 where there are no projectiles and everybody has reversals... lol pure skills, unless people poke the whole time

Add InFaMoUs PiFF... I main raiden, say what you want but i've been using him since MK1 and I'm not a spammer. I only use him if I play a true skill rank 30+. I also use Quan Chi, Reptile, and the occasional Ermac

We all really need to get over this whole "spam" topic. This game is still so young and most players have not fully developed their characters yet. Most people know 2 or 3 safe strings, 2 or 3 combo starters, and 2 or 3 decent combos. But with the online lag...it makes it hard to pull off alot of these moves...so players do what works. Thats why you see the same moves over and over. Gamers are competitive by nature, So they do what it takes to win. Throw in some lag and an early life of a game, and you will always see some "spam" in an online setting.
Please give the game some time,(and hopefully NRS will fix this damn Lag) and we will start seeing some more developed characters, but as of right now... we have to bear with everything and just enjoy the game as is.

Want to win easily? Fight me. I love the series, but I'm awful and hate online. I've played exactly eleven matches and won zero.

'sigh'

When you play more you'll hope you fight spammers because they are the easiest to beat. Kano's upball, kung lao spin etc you name it once you figure out what attacks/combos you can get in before there recovery after blocking your golden. Kano & Kung Lao can be a ***** to fight though, any decent player that knows what there doing playing Kung & Kano aren't going to be a walk in the park.

I would guess all of the "real" players are paying money to travel to other states to attend tournaments to fight nothing but Sub-Zero, Scorpion, Ermac, Noob players, a single Shang Tsung player & a single Kabal player who can only win by using the infinite block string glitch that will thankfully be removed next patch.

Just to point out , doing Kabals block cancel in a tourney is not a walk in the park. Failing to cancel In that short window is like a punishment playground for your opponent. Trying to mix up with Kabal is harder than most people think .

Give it time and it'll become second nature, it is very easy from my own experience. Just ask michaelangelo, he abused the hell out of the dash block cancel and got pretty far in the LV PDP tourney

Ermac:Unblockable Same Move
Cyrax Bomb Trap
Noob Spams Clone

Playing Against A Liu Kang And He Cornered Me And Did The Same 3 Moves Like WTF?

That's funny.. I watched those matches and I didn't see any spam..

Agreed. Maybe I'm in the minority, but I see spamming as using a move:
1. At the wrong times (i.e. sindel's scream when you're opponent is on the other side of the stage, stupid stuff like that)
2. Even when it's continually getting punished (i.e. keep using Kabal's Dash even though it gets blocked every time)

If using one move works, and the opponent can't/doesn't do anything about it, it would be dumb not to keep using that trick.

Do not confuse "spamming" and "strategy." I don't see how SZ's Ice Clone could ever be considered spamming since it's the basis for his style of gameplay. I saw a match of Lui Kang versus Johnny Cage. Kang won because he zoned Cage using fireballs. I don't see that as spamming, just good strategy. Sorry for all the rambling.

If you fight a spammer, you should be happy. They should be really easy to beat, and will put their record in its rightful place.

I love when a thread asking how to find a challenge from players who are bettering themselves and avoiding the spam 3-4 moves over and over again players turn into... a whine about spam or beating spam thread.

this spam stuff has been discussed to death. It's a terrible strategy, Spam only TRULY works against spam itself... such as spam spear... you spam block. your opponent spams hellfire, you spam jump. Whatever... I think most people who "spam" just enjoy being lazy and using special moves over and over, and then do a 3 hit combo once in a while.

I have had very LITTLE problems with lag... so I think most people just have bad connection >.>;

now ZONING on the other hand... that's not technically spamming. It appears that way, but that's only because they mix up timing intervals to catch their opponent off guard. Such as, ermac dashing around trying to time his force push when you might try to jump or dash in. IF he just spams it back to back... it's a pattern... and a toddler can recognize a pattern... I mean I remember being in pre-school and looking at Triangle, Square, Circle, Triangle, Square, (empty spot)... and you fill it in and 2 year olds can go oh... circle comes next.

But if you can use projectile in conjunction with changed timings, dash spacing, and other move mix ups. You leave behind no pattern thus creating a very complex wall for your opponent to get through. In THIS case... if your a thinker you can have FUN getting through this projectile wall/Zone game. If you're not a thinker, you will depict this as Spamming with an untrained eye.

I main Sindel, and if you think using a mix of low, high and air fireballs is spamming then you sir are an idiot

This observation is right ..... part of Sindel gameplay is based in using low, normal, and air fireballs, mixing when should be used one type after another ..... this is not spamming , no way ..... I hope more people play Sindel, she is the most underrated character in the game, and she is pretty good, with the best projectile game in MK 2011, lot of very useful default combos, and some others good special moves.

At first, I thought a Smoke spammer wasn't fun and such a pain. It ain't anymore. I see less and less Smoke spammers because we pretty much all figured him.

The new trend seems to be my good friend Kano: I fought that guy that was a REAL spammer. Get's to the opposite of the screen and throws knives back to back. Now, it's fine if you got a teleport or some air move, but I picked Sub-Zero, and aside from freezing him when he whiffed a knife throw, I simply couldn't avoid his knives. Can't slide under because the recover grants you a knife in the face too, can't jump between 2 knives without getting it in the face and if you jump, chances are you'll get a nice kanonball in the face. Ohhh, that guy wasn't fun to play against. You couldn't pick any character you want, you had to pick an anti-spam character every match.

In my book, a spammer automatically gets the "Seal of Online Lameness" for not caring about having good fights, but just go for the boring spamming win. No GG or anything after the match, just a bitter taste in my mouth. :)

I usually asks for a non-spammer opponent in the lobby and I then usually get a challenge from a respectable player.

imo you should practice more, kano's zoning is good, but not that good. dashblock moar.

I faced this guy today with Johnny Cage. He used Stryker, and literally all he did was shoot with the gun. I didnt even have to block, all I did was dash then duck, he never hit me. Once I got him in the corner. He disconnected right before I finished the fatality then sent me a message. It said, " **** you and your endless combo ********". The guy was complaining that I cornered him and did a combo(There is no infinite for Johnny that I know of, he could have easily hit me with a wake up attack). He is the first MK player I will actually call a complete and utter dumbass.
