What IS NRS working on?

For me, I would like them to work on MK Fire and Ice based on ideas in this thread.

http://www.trmk.org/forums/showthread.php/25349-Scorpion-s-Creed?p=435864#post435864

Or MK 10, being the sequel to MK9 with improved gameplay mechanics, improved graphics and visuals and deeper plot. Both these games should be made in not less than a span of 2 years so that it comes out near perfect. We already lived through NRS, rushing their games alot of times.

I'm with Flying Jinko on this.
I'd rather see NRS do a sequel to Shaolin Monks (namely MK: Fire and Ice), and leave MK10 for the following year.
It would be nice to see NRS do something different like that.

What if they made a High Impact Football game with MK characters? You know, where you could use special moves and perform fatalities....kind of like a Pigskin Footbrawl kind of thing. Now, that would be incredible!

Just speaking from a business perspective, though, MK was a huge success, which brought new blood to the franchise. I bet the bigwigs up at WB want to see that success replicated. I doubt they would be given the green light to take any kind of risks at this point because one successful game probably hasn't earned them enough creative capital to do that.

So if you're a guy at WB who is pleased with the success of MK and you want another profitable game without much risk associated, what project would you insist upon? Probably just MK10.

I don't know how the contracts are all worked out, but my best guess is WB gets to call the shots on what games the team works on. NRS probably gets to indicate what projects they would LIKE to work on, but WB probably approves the budgets so at the end of the day, they are going to have to do whatever the business managers at WB have decided they want.

someones been playing a few too many mario games it seems. What's next, Mortal Kombat Party? Hotel Mortal Kombat? Scorpion Teaches Typing?

EDIT: but that footbal idea reminds me alot of Blitz the League

Considering that Shaolin Monks sold so well, I would also say that a Shaolin Monks sequel would sell VERY well.

Shaolin Monks was an AWESOME game with 2 characters that are less popular than Scorpion and Sub-Zero.

Scorpion and Sub-Zero are the poster-boys for MK, and an action game featuring those 2 teaming up, with 2-player co-op mode (like Shaolin Monks), is just about as guaranteed money as you can get.
You say Mortal Kombat and the first thing that comes to most casual player's minds is probably "Oh, the fighting game with blue and yellow ninjas."

Shaolin Monks sold well, but consider that Deadly Alliance sold 2 million copies and Deception sold 1.9 million (according to Wikipedia...the numbers for Armageddon aren't listed there).

Shaolin Monks, on the other hand, sold "over a million" copies, which probably means just over a million.

So even though SM did sell pretty well, the main Kombat games sold almost twice as much.

While they are trying to rebuild the MK brand, I would assume a flagship MK fighting game will be next. Then possibly an adventure game after an MK game sells well again.

I'm just guessing, but that's what I would do if I had shareholders to answer to and needed to make the most profit I could.

nothing to do with NRS? man their the ones who made Mortal Kombat, in general though i'm just speculating on what's happening next.. more DLC will be the way to go and Motaro would be cool it'll be a fan-favorite coming in

Yes NRS made Mortal Kombat (the game), but they don't hold the film rights.
The film rights are held by New Line Cinema (who made the original MK movie in 1995) and WB, NOT NRS.
NRS holds the game rights and game licensing.

It 2 totally different things.

well, then i hope that WB and New Line Cinema pulls off a good movie like the Legacy webseries.. i'm still pulling out for more DLC it'll be bomb stuff but like all the tweets are saying maybe they're done with DLC in the meantime, until something can pull out

It wouldn't even matter if they did have the movie rights, NRS is a video game development company, not a movie production company.

I'm sure the producers may occasionally consult with Ed about certain elements of the story, but they have their own screenwriters and NRS will not have final cut approval. Basically, New Line could turn the MK movie into a G rated cartoon or a hardcore porn movie and there's really nothing NRS could do about it.

Just for the record, you may like Motaro, but he is most definitely NOT a fan favorite.

Motaro not a Fan Favorite? here on TRMK the character pops up in most DLC threads, either fan favorite or not it'll be cool if he was in

Edit: that patch for MK:AK should be good, online needs to improve i don't think that's what they're working on now though

^^
EXACTLY my point.
Thank you. ;-)

OT:
LET'S TRY TO DO THIS TOPIC AGAIN!!!!

Ed Boon said that they weren't doing any more DLC for MK9, on Twitter.
That goes for costumes, fatalities, or characters.

With THAT being said, Carlos Pesina has also written on Twitter that he's doing more mo-cap.

So........... What do you think NRS is working on?
Remember, there's no more DLC for MK9.

To be clear, Boon said something along the lines of they are not currently working on any DLC for the game.

That makes it unlikely, but not impossible that they COULD work on some DLC for the game at a later date.

@noobde via Twitter said:
RT @Bigtat74 But u said no more characters & I was wondering if that ment no more DLC. Noobde: Sorry, but I said no plans for more DLC.

RT @munkymunch @noobde my heart sank and it felt like a part of me died when you announced no more DLC. Noobde: I'm sorry to hear that.

RT @nicholasrobison @noobde what about new outfits? does that count as dlc? Noobde: Unfortunately, yes it does. :(

RT @cvincent1514 @noobde I thought "As Long as PPL are playing it" you will make new DLC! LIAR!! Noobde: Show me the article or interview!

RT @Philydelphia @noobde any chance of a 'Friendship' DLC to the MK9 game? Noobde: Babality & Toasty was enough humor in MK9. Dont u think?

I'd say that pretty much confirms no more DLC for MK 9.

Once again, with that being said:

how late is later?

back when freddy was relesed in august, people were speculating that if they were eventually doing more DLC, it would most likley return again in the Fall. If they are not working on anything, I guess we can scrap that Idea. Sometime in the Winter?..... Maybe.

sometime in Spring? I really dont think they would wait a whole year after the game's release to add DLC. We might as well just start looking forward to mk10 by that time.

I'd like more, but by the look of things there probably isnt going to be any more DLC.

I agree that there won't be any more.

But Boon never said that. He only said there are no plans for any more. Plans could always change later.

I don't see that happening. If it does, though, you can't call Boon a liar, because just because there aren't any plans to do it now doesn't mean there may not be plans for it later.

I personally can't imagine a scenario where those plans would change, but you never ever know.
