VS Thread

He was weak from fighting Raiden.
He still had unlimited access to the Soulnado to replenish himself. Quan Chi didn't even try to shut down the Soulnado. Shang Tsung had clear advantages over Quan Chi and STILL couldn't win.

I think Shang Tsung is a better fighter and has more power than Quan Chi. So I vote for Shang. Quan Chi is better at manipulating and working behind the scenes.

Shang used to be a feared sorcerer until Quan got more and more popular during the 3D era. This is why he has won in this intro.

Are we comparing MKX Quan Chi VS MK9 Shang Tsung?
If so, then my vote goes towards Quan Chi, as MKX Quan Chi looks like he could wipe the floor with MK9 Shang Tsung.

If were doing MK9 Quan Chi VS MK9 Shang Tsung, then my vote would go for Shang Tsung.

It all depends which perspective we're looking at it from.

I think Quan Chi was probably always able to do most of the stuff he does in MKX.

So I guess MKX Quan Chi vs MK9 Shang Tsung.

He seems like he has more deadlier moves in his arsenal in MKX, like the hell bat, teleport kick, teleport stab, the various portals that he can open up and the spells that weaken the opponent.
MKX Quan Chi is OP compared to MK9 Shang Tsung.
It's not even fair to compare against MK9 Shang Tsung, IMO.

But MK9 Shang Tsung can turn into anybody he wants right?

So wouldn't that mean Quan Chi is more overpowered then everybody?
As I said earlier, Shang Tsung could have beaten Quan Chi on paper due to both talent-related and tactical advantages over Quan Chi, and STILL got his ass kicked fair and square. Just goes to show that the results on paper don't mean jack shit.

Not if Shang Tsung is in MKX and has a better arsenal of moves, IMO.
In a MK9 Quan Chi and Shang Tsung fight, my vote is for Shang Tsung as Shang Tsung has a deadlier (no pun intended) set of moves, IMO
Just about anybody from MKX can manhandle the whole MK9 roster, which is my point.
MK9 characters look weak when compared to their MKX counterpart.

Not really.

Sub-Zero throws his ice clone in MKX, but it's not like he wasn't able to do that before. Most of these "new" moves aren't really that new.

What makes MKX Quan Chi so much stronger? I doubt summering hell bats was out of MK9 Quan Chi's abilities.

I pick Shang Tsung for this round. The dude can turn into anybody he wants, including Quan Chi himself.
But to make the whole thing easier and more fair, the MK9 versions are the ones fighting.

This is the first time he throws the ice clone, plus he has daggers, the ice hammer and other moves that he didn't have in MK9.
Raiden does lightning traps and also has a more improved moveset in MKX.
That's what I mean.

Quan Chi may have had the ability to do that in MK9, but his moves seemed more limited in 9.
That's what I'm trying to get at, I guess.
I dunno.

It just seems like MKX Quan Chi ramped up his badass level to 11 in MKX.

But my point is Sub-Zero could always do that.
What would keep him from throwing his ice clone during the events of MK9?

He definitely is more badass. But I think he could always do most of that stuff.
Just like he could always summon those green skeletons. He doesn't do it in gameplay, but we know he can do it.

I haven't played the game yet though, so maybe Quan Chi is more powerful this time around.

Maybe Quan Chi and Subs powers get expanded on and explained in MKX.
Perhaps if the Elder Gods did make Sub-Zero their champion, they also expanded his powers which now allow him to throw it.
It could be aesthetics as well, and not be explained, but what if there is a reasonable explanation for it?

Same goes for Quan Chi.
How do we know that he doesn't attain Shinnok's amulet in story mode and his powers are greater in MKX because of it.

Kotal Kahn uses the Kamidogu to expand his powers via blood magic (per the comic book tease), so why couldn't the latter 2 have also had their powers expanded on, somehow?

I think it would be better if we vote on the characters based generally what we know about them overall, instead of basing it on specific iterations of each character.

No need to over complicate things.
