Vote WHO WINS MKX match-ups!

I thought it would be fun to see who people think are the stronger fighters in the MK universe. Not in terms of gameplay, but in terms of lore. We have very, very little "valid" information to go on, the power levels of most characters are in total flux from game to game and very loosely defined, so this is going to be incredibly subjective. Just because Reptile was such a moron in MK9 doesn't mean he has to lose every fight 10-0. You're free to think that he was misrepresented, and post up what you think the character is "really" like!

RULES

- 3 duels will be posted every couple of days.
- Indicate who wins in each duel, and the score after 10 matches. (e.g. KUNG LAO 6-4 Reptile; GORO 10-0 Kobra)
- Use whatever criteria you like and provide as much explanation as you want.
- This is MKX timeline, but whether that means "immediately after MK9" or "25 years in the future" is up to you!

The first duels for voting are Sub-Zero vs Scorpion, Ermac vs Quan Chi, and Johnny Cage vs Goro!

Scorpion 6-4 Sub-Zero

If Subz is Bi Han. If it's Kuai Liang, I give Scorp 7-3.

Ermac 2-8 Quan Chi

Quan Chi is strongly favored because like Shang Tsung's magic, his magic revolves around manipulating souls. This gives him a huge advantage over Ermac who is nothing but souls. Quan Chi and Shang Tsung are the scissors to Ermac's paper.

Johnny Cage 4-6 Goro

OK, the movie might have biased me a little... I think Johnny is supposed to be a very crafty fighter. The kind of guy who's great at thinking on his feet. The good guy equivalent to Kano. IMO, this gives him a huge advantage over Goro, who is overconfident and has the same strategy going into every battle (krush, kill, and destroy). Obviously Goro's still a beast though, so he has to be favored.

I like this idea!

Scorpion 5-5 Sub-Zero
A rather even match up in my opinion.

Ermac 3-7 Quan Chi
As somebody stated already, Quan Chi's sorcery is adept at manipulating souls. Not to mention the fact that besides raw magical power, Quan Chi is seemingly far more intelligent than Ermac, who does nothing but refer to himself in third person and babble on about his creator.

Johnny Cage 3-7 Goro
Johnny is talented when it comes to combat, evidently. But compared to Goro I don't really think Johnny comes close. Not only does Goro beat him in terms of raw strength & combat prowess, I don't think Johnny is the sharpest tool in the box. Johnny gets extremely c*cky when it comes to fighting someone, even Goro, and I think this would be his downfall.

Scorpion 5 - 5 Sub Zero : this is an even matchup, they are the classic rivals.

Ermac 3 - 7 Quan Chi : I feel like Ermac being a creature of souls and magic puts him right in Quan Chi's comfort zone, since Quan Chi is a top necromancer and sorcerer and he just seems like the right guy to handle something like Ermac.

Johnny Cage 2 - 8 Goro : there are a lot of advantages on Goro's side so he should be a clear favorite. He has more raw strength, he can take a lot more damage, he's much bigger and heavier, he has a hell of a lot more combat experience (doesn't even compare), he's more agressive in a fight. He also has the more impressive background, with his tournament wins and gaining the favor of Shao Kahn in the battlefield.

Match #1 - Can go either way. Scorpion seems to over power Sub-Zero in the past.

Match #2 - Can go either way. I think Quan Chi might pull off a win.

Match #3 - Johnny Cage may be pretty tough but I see Goro winning this unlike in the MK1 movie. Johnny Cage killing Goro in that movie was utter bullshit even after 20 years later.

I still can't believe Sub-Zero was killed with a bucket of water.

Scorpion 5 - 5 Sub-Zero - this could go either way , classic rivals

Ermac 4 - 6 Quan Chi - Quan Chi´s soul manipulating turns this match-up into his comfort zone , but I had to give Ermac at least 4 since he´s one of my faves

Johnny Cage 1 - 9 Goro - I have no doubts Goro destroys Cage

Scorpion vs sub-zero would obviously be close. Edge goes to scorpion though imo 6-4.
I think Ermac vs Quan chi would be decently close. I'll say 7-3.
Goro is obviously the big favorite over johnny, but I feel like johnny could think his way into at least 2 wins.

Match #1 - 6-4 in Sub favor. Scorpion main pros is his mobility and trapping his opponents in a vortex of continued offense which helps him greatly for overwhelming a foe, but Sub Zero ice powers can be used in ways to cut off scorpion mobility by strategically placing ice statues. This forces Scorpion to fight on Sub Zero pace putting the MU slightly in Subs favor.

Match #2 - 5-5, they appear to be even in hand to hand combat and have similar mobility techniques with how they utilize teleportation. Ermac is better at using magical powers from a distance to control and kill his opponents which is the main difference between the two.

Match #3 - 7-3 Goro's favor, when it comes to pure melee fighting, Johnny Cage may have no equal but sometimes that just isn't enough especially when your fighting freaks with super powers from other realms and Goro is a perfect example of this. Johnny Cage struggles with getting close against range fighters but once he is in, he is able to trap his opponent with amazing speed, and the occasional nut cracking, but Goro doesn't care he will just punch thru Cage's pressure and turn Cage's offense into an advantage for himself. In a slug fest Goro will win, but Cage is fast, and smart he may be able to win by just counter attacking.

Scorpion V Sub Zero: 5-5 seems pretty even, despite MK's advertisements constantly killing sub.

Ermac V Quan Chi: 4-6 In favour of Quan
Ermac is good but Quan has more tricks up his sleeves, Ermac is created from sorcery, Quan Chi is the creator and wielder of Sorcery.

Goro V Johnny Cage: 1-9 in favour of Goro, To be fair Johnny has survives fighting him before (with Kano and Sonya) but I just don't see him winning, he can maybe outmanoeuvre Goro and use his shadow moves to pull out a win but the second he's caught he's dead meat I'd say

Ok for
Scorpion vs Sub Zero:
Honestly I give them a tie (5-5). being the Faces of the Franchise, they're both evenly matched IMO.

Ermac vs Quan Chi:
I will have to give this one to Quan Chi (6-4), QC is always well prepared for a battle. Not taking anything away from Ermac, but he just seems to be a pawn that shows up and fights. not to mention, Quan Chi can manipulate souls as well. So Advantage to Quan Chi

Goro vs Johnny Cage. For 2 rounds Johnny Gives Goro a fight, but for 8 Rds, Goro isnt playing anymore

Just to be ultra clear: the idea isn't that they fight for 10 rounds in a row, but that they have one single fight... in ten alternate dimensions, as it were. I don't imagine this will change your 8-2 vote for Goro, and maybe you were just being creative with your phrasing anyway. :)

Scorpion vs. Sub-Zero : 4-6 in favor of Sub-Zero. Close match-up, but the freeze overpowers the harpoon IMO.
Ermac vs. Quan Chi : 4-6 in favor of Quan Chi. The evil sorcerer would be just a tad too much for Ermac to handle.
Johnny Cage vs. Goro : 2-8 in favor of Goro. Forget the movie. Goro will destroy Cage anytime, anywhere.

OOOOH Gotcha, but yeah my vote still stays the same... J.C-2/Goro-8! LMAO

Scorpion - Sub-Zero: 5-5-
Ermac - Quan Chi: 7-3 (My boy Ermac not taking no Ls after a few close losses)
Cage - Goro: 6-4 (Because I'm nostalgic)

5-5 Split, I don't think there is a clear winner so I just say draw.

8-2 for Quan Chi, his sorcery skills are said to be only matched by 3 other people, Ermac not being one of them. That on top of the soul manipulator that Quan is.

9-1 Goro smash. Pssh Johnny Cage is just an actor, surely he doesn't stand a chance, right?
