Ultimate Mortal Kombat 9?

You've already spent $20 just getting the additional characters via DLC; that's fairly hefty. As others have pointed out, it would likely be less expensive for a new disc release than paying for everything via DLC. Though really, the only way to know for certain which way is less expensive (DLC or a new disc) is knowing, in absolute terms, how much DLC there will be before the next game is released.

$10 on 2 DLC characters (Skarlet and Rain) is really not that hefty.

If the DLC was given in 2 options (either as a pack or individual DLC), it wouldn't be that expensive.
That way, if you wanted to spend the $40 to get everything else, you could.
Also vice versa, if they had a second option to get the extra stuff individually, it wouldn't be that expensive.

they only did that once its not like street fighter where they do that to every game they gots

Only did that once!? No my friend..

MK3 gave birth to UMK3 and MK Trilogy
MK4 gave birth to MK Gold
MK DA gave birth to MK Tournament Edition
MK Deception gave birth to MK Unchained

All of these had added characters...

But yh, I would buy an UMK9 should it come out...Im committed to buy all MK games and DLCs, however Im NOT going to buy the pointless MK Kollector Edition.

Its NOT the same game dumbass when u throw in 10 kharacters, more stages, more challenges, modes,etc.. UMK9 will be $40, if it has 10 kharacters, multiply that by $5 per khar and thats $50 just for kharacters, then u throw in all the other stuff and thats well worth it.

First of all, don't call me dumbass.

Second, It's not cool to make us pay for a game and DLCs, then makes us pay for it again for a "new" disc with more content. If all the new content is available as DLC, that's fine, specially because not everyone wants everything "new" from a possible UMK9. Maybe I would want only 2 of the 10 characters and that's it.

Besides, some people have to IMPORT the game or buy it for VERY HIGH prices, you know?

So think first before trying to insult anyone.

you must talk to Boon directly.
posting comments here does not help.
He does not care about fans at all!
All fans wants PC ver. but he does not care.
Most of the fans wants MK characters like fujin, Cyber Smoke, Mavado, Taniya, etc as DLC, he does not care and releases Freddy!!!
You American guys must talk to him 'cause he maybe hear you better than us non-Americans.
Boon must stick to tradition, the one which Tobias established, to make progress and gain more acceptability.
He must learn from Japanese producers, the ones who stick to tradition and do as fans wants, to be successful one.
another mistake in MK series, like in PS2 era, will cause huge loss of fans.

All fans want PC version? Count me out on that...I do not understand why people still play video games on PC.lol The graphics update is not that significant to leave the comfort of a console...

UMK9 is a bad idea, if done through disc, you risc cutting 50% of online players that play against one another, cause not everyone wants 4-6 new characters and stages.

All character additions can be added in DLC, and if making stages was a big deal to NRS they probably would have given us a few at this point.

If NRS is just going to make a download (similar to arcade edition), im pretty sure they arent going to be calling it Ultimate Mortal Kombat 9, more like Mortal Kombat 9 Season Pass #2. Any problems in the game can be adjusted with a simple patch.

If Brink can fix online issues through a patch, hands down Mortal Kombat can be fixed in a patch.

It will cost NRS a lot less, and be more time efficient if they just dish out a bunch of DLCs instead of getting a disc launch. When you are launching a revamped game, time crunches come into play and you want to make sure you get what you want. I think until we see MK10 and see if MKDA-MKA characters are coming back, or if they are going to take a crackshot at some new characters.

Besides, most post UMK3 characters people hate, people also hate guests, so since the fan base already has every character they really enjoy, besides maybe Cyber Smoke(who is a scorpion clone), i would say the current character list has every important character ever made in MK.

No to UMK9, Yes to more DLC characters

Invisible +rep for you sir.

Also, if they were to release something like a UMK9, it would be for Vita, with every DLC character and maybe a couple of more (or a different guest), because people wouldn't mind that much buying a portable port and we wouldn't need to buy every DLC character AGAIN. Basically the same they did with Blazblue Continuum Shift II: PS3 has DLCs, PSP has the complete game.

The minimum I would like to see is:

-new fatalities (or more per character I dont care)
-new characters
-new arenas
-fixed/improved fighting system (FIX THAT METER BAR PLEEEASE!)
-new/more specials moves & combos

3 most important things:
-online has to be better or I'm simply not buying UMK9
-has to come out at least after June
and -more game modes/story/new options. Some type of improvement there. Do that wish list for me and I will buy. Until then, I'm still VERY content with this CURRENT, LESS THEN 6 MONTHS OLD, Mortal Kombat...

But I mean ya I too agree with Mudknot. more specifically about the DLC and no to disk. I guess what I ment was hypothetically, if they did release a disk

I'm thinking the Vita version could possibly feature some new characters like how Unchained, the PSP version of Deception, had Frost, Jax, Kitana, Blaze, and the previously-GC exclusives Shao Kahn and Goro.

Everyone's heatedly debating what will be in UMK9. Is there even a hint that there will actually be an UMK9? No.

I'm sorry, but that's ridiculous.

Not ridiculous at all.

The evidence of Ultimate Mortal Kombat is the absence of the things requested for Ultimate Mortal Kombat (Stages from MK1, II & 3, DLC, new announcer, menus etc.) in Mortal Kombat.

Things were left out of MK9, this will lead to UMK9.

Yeah, just like Mega Man and Venom were not in MVC3!

Oh, wait...

Capcom is ass backwards.

You do realize that not every request in the world is granted, right?

Or, you know, MK10.

Its not just about requests.

Some of these things may very well have been left out on purpose.
No Kombat Tomb? Portal?

Open your eyes butt-nuggets

How about the fact that Ed Boon himself said that they don't have plans to make the same thing that Capcom has been doing?
