Johnny Cage has to be in. They set up his character in his ending to be this Neo Matrix style character. I doubt they'd toss that out like that.

Baraka is definitely not a given. Reptile is a bit sketchy too.
 
I wouldn't be so sure! From the way Ed was talking it almost sounded like there's gonna be way less old characters returning, and if they do, they'll be literal old versions of themselves or something weirder.

That's exciting for me.
We were expecting MK4 with pretty graphics.

We're getting something completely out of left field.

That's exactly what I'm talking about...

What they say to each other could be different. Each character could have 2 or more different quotes to use at the beginning of a fight per opponent. How do we know some of the banter before a fight isn't from right after MK2011 and some of the banter isn't from 25 years later?

I was hoping they WOULDN'T go for MK4 and that we'd get something out of left field. I'm totally stoked now!

I think the storyline is more likely to be set 25 years after MK9, and they would just explain everything that happened n between in a intro. Honestly, Im not liking that idea at all, I was hoping to relive the old timeline with how MK9 altered it, they could have done a lot with it. Im not writing it off fully just yet, I just hope they don't go the lazy cop-out route and start ignoring everything in the old timeline.
 
That aside, the fanboy in me is screaming "PLEASE spare Jade!". Haha. Everyone's gonna be disappointed in some small way if their favorite Trilogy character isn't present. Gonna have to live with that. :-P

They need to explain what happened to Outworld when Shao Kahn, Kitana, Shang Tsung & Sindel all got killed. Mileena must be a queen now and where is Mileena there is tarkatans & Baraka.

Reptile is in top 10 popular characters and will return.

UMK3 had 2 Sub-Zeros, MKDA had 2 Sub-Zeros, MKD had 2 Ermacs, Kano was redone first into Jarek, then into Kira. Goro was redone first into Kintaro, then into Sheeva.
Nothing new for Boon team here.

I agree. I was thinking Raiden. Especially since in the character select screen we don't see his hat. But of course this is assuming Raiden still looks like we expect him too and that the silhouettes in the select screen aren't made to troll us. ;P

And who else is LOVING the minimalist design of the HUD during fights!?!?

Haha yup, Im glad you were. The only major thing that bothers me now is the roster size, I really hope we get more than 24. Ed Boon mentioned 'tons of new characters' at the start, I hope many post MK3 characters will be acknowledged and playable.
