Tryning to guess who will be the final boss...

My money is on Liu Kang. If not him, Maybe Raiden. If not HIM, then Im definitely in for a shock.
I doubt Shinnok because people already see him coming. He may be a boss fight, but not the surprise Big Bad boon is saying.

I don't know what took Shinnok so long (25 years)?
It probably didn't,we can assume that the MK4-MKA doesn't last that long,my theory is that we'll go through the invasion of Shinnok,Onaga's resurrection by Shujinko, maybe even Blaze(They didn't stop Armaggeddon, they just made sure Shao Kahn wasn't the one to kill Raiden),finally we're gonna follow the surviving kharacters trying to fix everything Shinnok,Onaga and Blaze destroyed for some time until a longer time-skip occurs, during which Cassie Cage is born and new kharacters and introduced.A new threat appears and in my opinion that could be Original Timeline Shao Kahn or Evil Liu Kang, then we follow the new generation of kombatants try and defeat Kang/Kahn.

He could either be the Sub Boss or Boss, but how about Wraith/Spectre Kahn from Quan Chi's ending?

"Having finally brought about Shao Kahn's demise, Quan Chi was then tasked with growing the ranks of the Brotherhood of Shadow. Many warriors had perished in Outworld's invasion of Earthrealm. Quan Chi stole their souls and remade them to serve his master, the fallen Elder God. The task completed, Shinnok repaid Quan Chi's service by ordering his execution, thereby eliminating a possible challenger to his rule. Quan Chi had anticipated this act of treachery, however, and resurrected Shao Kahn--the ultimate phantom warrior. With Shao Kahn as his enforcer, Quan Chi struck down the Brotherhood of Shadow and Shinnok. Quan Chi forgives betrayal from no one. Not even a god."

Given the ending of MK2011 story mode, Quan Chi picking up Kahn's helmet and his little conversation with Shinnok at the end; Quan Chi, for all intents and purposes, won.

I don't think Quan Chi could be the final boss,he's probably living longer than Shinnok but i really hope Scorpion puts an end to him in this game.Maybe he actually revives Kahn but a Spectre-Kahn woudn't be such a "surprise returning kharacter" like Ed Boon said it would be,still neither would be Liu Kang. It's probably quite obvious who's it gonna be and that's why we're so confused about it.Maybe...Blaze?They didn't kill him so he still can appear in 25 years...that's too long of a time to guess,it can't be Blaze,Onaga or Shinnok(That rules out Spectre Kahn aswell since he woudn't be revived for Quan Chi after such a long time).Liu Kang is a possibility but still why would he wait 25 years to return?Maybe someone revives him and we fight the guy who revived him and zombie Liu Kang?Hell it could even be Kotal Kahn for all we know.

Not evil, just contrary to Raiden which would make him an enemy for most kharacters.Raiden killed him,if he lives he'd want revenge.

Why are some people saying Liu Kang? He would do nothing to be evil. What points him to becoming evil?

I don't know if you've played MK9 or not but in Liu Kang's ending he fights Raiden for the title of protector. He kills Raiden and he gains god powers that enhance his abilities and the powers drive him to become mad.

So along with this, in MK Legacy season 2 he fights for. Outworld and seems to have a darker side. In other words, the evil Liu Kang has been a trend lately. I could see this happening.

What furthers our speculation that the big bad is Liu is that during an interview at E3, Ed Boon dodges the question of who it is by saying it is a returning character and people won't expect it. Would you expect Liu? Nope. You already confirmed us.

I have played MK9 and aware of the ending you're talking about. Also Shang Tsung ending he becomes a good guy. None of them are canon really.

I can see him being a neutral type of character not siding with either and becoming how Dark Raiden was, but not becoming like Shang Tsung or Shao Kahn.

the big bad guy can be anyone from Mortal Kombat. What if it was actually Raiden? No one would suspect him to be this guy. I don't mind if Liu Kang will be the boss or not but it would be interesting to see. I just don't think he really fits the role for a boss. I know he's really good and all but don't see him as a boss character at all.

Guys...
When Noob went into the soulnado it purified him and the wraith that latched on to him then left and latched onto somebody else. Somebody who died in the last game. Out of all the good guys, Liu Kang died with the most hate in his heart. It latches onto Liu Kang...

Liu Kang.

To add on what glammetal said, Liu Kang's portray in Legacy and Shang Tsung's ending also hits that Liu Kang is the final boss. I wish he wasn't because I want him to be playable :/.

And it's not 25 years after, it starts after MK9.

@ Gurrimjaw

Well over the years some endings have become canon. Just saying.

I like the idea of evil Liu Kang. Just imagine him incredibly fast and cheap. Like the ooposite of Shao Kahn's playstyle. That would be a cool boss fight. I wouldn't mind it.

As far as Raiden, that could be a possibility. When he became Dark Raiden he was fed up with his mortal's failures and became a lot less friend and even killing Shujinko in his ending. Now I know you're going to say that's just an ending but obviously the writers put that kind of thought in to Dark Raiden's behavior.

However, I'd prefer to be even more shocked on the boss reveal. If it is Liu Kang than so many people have called it already. I want to be wrong and someone completely different and unexpected to be the boss.

Liu Kang.

I'm not doubting this at all and its very plausible but how do you know this all of a sudden?

im gonna take a wild guess and say your fave is Tanya?

And other Edenian females such as Jade, Kitana, Mileena, and Sindel.

Also, Li Mei, Sareena, and Nitara.

But speaking of bosses, if Onaga is the boss, I'd like Li Mei to be the sub-boss and actually have her MKD ending come true.

Best theory about this i've seen so far,it also fits with Sub-Zero's return since Bi-Han could still be alive and become Sub-Zero again.

THIS!!!
I'm SOOOOO glad that someone else actually freakin' pays attention to the videos.

Ed Boon says that MK X SPANS 25 years, starting after the events of MK9.
Meaning, over the course of 25 years, hence why Boon also said againg characters, hinting at Sonya and Johnny (since they are mortals).

The MK X story will begin after MK9 and will end on the 25th year, for those who still don't get it.

As for the topic of this thread, it could be anyone from past games.

Evil Noob separated from Bi-Han in the Soulnado.
Evil / Dark Raiden who gets power-hungry.
God Liu Kang or Evil Liu Kang.

That's exactly why we should rule out Shinnok,Onaga,Blaze and even Liu Kang.None of them would wait 25 years and it woudn't take such a long time to defeat any of those threats,it's something we're not gonna be expecting,it has to be someone that has appeared before but everyone that has already appeared is either dead,is very old after 25 years or hasn't appeared yet in the new timeline.Maybe they're going for someone way back in the PS2 era?

I paid attention to the videos. Do I get a sticker?

Anyones, if the story courses through 25 years I'm assuming we're going to see multple tournaments. I'm just overwhelmed with excitement here. The freshness of this game has got to be the highlight.

Yep,its gonna be awesome, about 5 years of content we've seen before (MK4-MKA) and some significant new story stuff with new kharacters and all.Hope there are some klassic style tournaments other than just Shinnok's,which we still don't know who is capable of defeating him without Liu Kang, probably Scorpion.

A Mortal Kombat tournament is held every generation. MK9 was supposed to be the 10th tournament that with 10 straight wins, Outworld would have had the right to invade Earth Realm. It was Shao Kahn who broke the rules of the tournament when he went and invaded anyway.

This chapter of MK doesn't point to continuing that part of the story. If anything, this could just be the very next tournament and now we have not just Outworld, but Netherrealm and maybe even some other realms fighting to have a legitimate right to invade Earth Realm. Even ancient Edinia was just as coveted of a realm as Earth.

My guess is that the game starts with the survivors having some loose ends to tie up personally with certain characters and then we're thrown into the future where the 11th tournament begins and the next generation of fighters defends Earth Realm. All I'm going to say is even if Shinnok is ready and willing to invade, it doesn't mean he can start right away. He still has to observe the rules of Mortal Kombat or face the same consequences that Shao Kahn faced.
