I like the post, but what I'm more impressed with is the TS's name. How could it take until January of 2011 for someone to decide to use the name "mortalkombat"? Kudos to you on two counts.
(hahaha) I was surprised myself!

I hope story mode is set up as a REAL tournament.
I also hope that MK3's invasion is the only deviation from the tournament and MK4's Netherealm invasion is added as "part of" Kahn's invasion like it was in Trilogy just to get that out of the way and return to the interesting aspects of the MK tournament itself.
I hope Liu Kang can survive and be challenged in the future of the tournament as the past champion instead of dying against the wishes of the Elder Gods :{
Shinnok and Shao Kahn are already working together but they're plotting to backstab each other.
Ohhh yeah I understand now and yes I do agree with you on thatI think it's proof enough that they intend on making their short alliance canonical. It's also fact that Shang Tsung exchanged information with Quan Chi about the location of Shinnok's amulet in exchange for resurrecting Sindel.
I'm not saying it was a cooperative alliance... more like a temporary trade off.
Either way, you agree that Shinnok was waiting for the right time to swoop in after Kahn falters, so I hope it's thrown in as part of Shao Kahn's invasion in MK9.
Shinnok and Shao Kahn are already working together but they're plotting to backstab each other. I was saying that, after Shao Kahn fails to invade Earthrealm and is killed/ forced to retreat, Shinnok would use this chance to invade all of Outworld (and since Earthrealm is technically still part of Outworld...) using Noob Saibot, Quan Chi, (possibly) Sareena and resurrected Mileena as spying eyes and then soldiers for the Netherealm invasion. This was basically the plot in MK Trilogy if you win as Noob Saibot or Mileena (Shinnok's invasion is hastened).
Then after that, I would like to see it return to Mortal Kombat tournament being the center of the story line.
It would be a good way of getting rid of a lot of characters and keeping the main ones while also developing new ones that could be participants from other realms trying to win the tournament to support a new invasion on Earthrealm 50-so years later.
I think the only thing shown will be Quan Chi and Shang Tsung making the exchanges. Shinnok and Kahn will probably never even see each other.
But regarding your credits comment, I was actually hoping Shinnok's invasion would actually happen in this game, not in the sequel; and it would come to the point where Earthrealm forces would have to fight of people like Quan Chi, Sareena, Noob Saibot, Reiko, etc. That way, we could get all of this deviation from the MK tournament out of the way in one event and go back to the tournament quickly in the sequel.
I'm surprised no one has tried challenging me on my predicted rules of what the Grand Masters roles are.
I've always been personally confused to why Shao Kahn was promised with immortality if his realm won Mortal Kombat in MKII.
Not a problem... most likely, but probably something to do with Shang Tsung.
As it was said, he became the sole Grand Master and after MKI, it was thought that he was dead; but he wasn't. I have been guessing in a lot of this, but I have an idea that Shang Tsung has the right to declare Mortal Kombat to Liu Kang because he is still technically the sole Grand Master and thus has control over the tournament and can declare a rematch tournament if the Grand Masters judge it was an unfair representation.
Then I would guess that perhaps Shang Tsung somehow transitions his role as Grand Master to Shao Kahn?
Thoughts?
