Not bashing gen1. But I'm showing you guys that even gen1 had unoriginal ideas for Pokemon. Regardless if they are "OG" or not.

Houndoom is based on mythology, it's not an original idea for a Pokemon. It's a copied idea.

It was gen 1 though, and everyone loved it.

The fact that they were based of animals and shit was cool, but they added their own little Pokemon modifications to them. That's why nobody hated gen 1. Nobody.

Is it considered unoriginal? Yeah, but like I said, it was first gen and like BBBLP, the base for the next gens to come.

Then the whole foundation began to collapse at gen IV.
 
Magikarp is the same story like pidgy it was the first the pioneer of fish based Pokemon plus he evolved into this

Gyrados is badass, especially the shiny one. But that doesn't mean that Magikarp is an original idea. Actually he's based off of Japanese mythology, which is why he is useless then evolves into Gyrados. I'm sure you guys have seen Japanese Koi Fish tattoos. Well, Magikarp is based off of the same myhos.
