Over time ive seen people compare the two in ways, but nothing major. People favored sss4 for reasons and mk9 for others. Now myself, i never realy ever played street fighter games beyond maybe the first one a long time ago.
i saw sss4 ae for cheap and snagged it up. wow was i in for a surprise.
street fighter 4 is VERY technical. I thought i liked technical but this feels like overkill. Each combo hit has to be registered then input at specific moments much harsher it seems then mk9. comboing is extremely hard in comparison as a result, ive successfully done a combo once thus far and it was by accident.
where mk9 feels like its about combos, street fighter 4 feels like its about footsies and landing your "super" attack. like...is there combos in this game? even in matches i dont really see much in combos, more looks like poking.
now i know im saying negative things, but it doesnt mean its not in itself fun. im sure i need to learn more about it, as its very confusing since i hav eno prior experience with ss games. ive yet to find a suitable forum to help with it either. shoryouken (or whatever its called) seems to assume you know about ss games already, so its steping pretty deep.
also with the technicality of it, i find its also less balanced then mk9 overall, and there is a lot of inconsistancy where certain attacks/counters only work vs certain characters and not others because of there size/hitbox, this seems much more prevalent in sss4 then mk9.
Im gonna keep at it as i feel the game could help my footsies in mk9, and its fun in its own ways, but man...its very...different.
