ssf4 vs mk9

Here's what would make MK9 VS SSF4 a great game:

If you are a MK fan you could choose to battle in the gory universe of Mortal Kombat, with Fatalities, blood, and X-Ray moves.

If you are a Street Fighter fan, you can do battles in the Street Fighter realm, with ultra combos, bunches of bright special effects, and vibrant colors, without any blood, and would be a lot faster (Like Street Fighter was known for)

So, you could choose to fight in Super Street Fighter 4 gameplay mechanics, or Mortal Kombat 9 gameplay mechanics. Tell me what you think.

EDIT: Oh, and sorry if it's a little off topic- I JUST realized what we're really talking about.

Exactly what I was thinking in the shower today.

Re: sss4 vs mk9

ok, so ive been putting in more time and i managed to somehow find a group of chars i like playing. forgive any spelling mistakes cuz the words/names in this game still seem hard for me to remember atm.

hakkan ive decided to be my main. Partially cuz i couldnt find a BA char that wasnt generic, so i went the other route to find a rediculous one, and hakkan fits that role to a T. i mean he covers himself in cooking oil to boost his hot oil wrestling prowess!

Dan i second, for pretty much the same reason

dudley is third string because he just seems rediculous to me

overall the game is...interseting, i understand it has more depth, and ive been researching while i play (mainly training/arcade mode atm) but i dont get some of the stuff you guys are saying. FADC? kara cancels? im uber noob to this game atm. and ive yet to find anything that explains this stuff as most forums seem to assume you have been playing sf for the last decade.

I still think the game should have moer combos and rely less on the silly supers/ultras. it gets to the point of fatalities in mk9...you just get sick of seeing them, sept this time around you HAVE to use them, i like to use dan's super taunt just so i cant use one >.<

someone said the 2 bar system in this game is amazing...how so? in all honesty right now it feels clunky and convoluted. ive read the manual cover to cover still doesnt seem to explain things well.

It seems like you're setting yourself up to struggle with the game, is that something you like to do in games to challenge yourself more? (This sort of sounds like a critism, it isn't, I'm genuinely curious).

You've selected 3 of the cast who are without a doubt lower tiers, arguably Hakkan is generally considered to be right at the bottom and Dan is supposed to be a joke character. You will struggle online with Hakkan if you are a total beginner. He can still be competitive, but for a beginner learning the game from the start he will not be as forgiving to mistakes as some other cast members.

Also you are deliberately preventing yourself from using supers or ultras? Would you handicap yourself like that normally in a fighting game and expect to enjoy it to the same dgeree? You can use the super bar in other ways, FADC - which is cancelling your focus attack moves, or bolstering your regular moves for example (the same as MK). The ultra bar only has one use and that you should think of as more similar to just the x-ray move on it's own. Or think of it as the super bar is like the MK bar in almost every way, but then you also have the ultra, it's an extra.

Also just the same as you have for MK, if you really want to learn SF you'll need to join a SF based forum and look for hints, tips, combos etc, I recommend EventHubs, they are more chilled and welcoming than some others.

As for lack of combos, have you been to the training mode challenges? There are 20 in there for each character to practice.

Re: sss4 vs mk9

I understand that you play characters that you like, was just letting you know that he has a disadvantage in someway against all characters. Hakan is definitely the goofiest character to me. (Turkish Oil Wrestling..lol) I hate Yun, he seems to not have a weakness. The characters I find fun to play are Cammy, Rose, and Adon, I don't think any of these characters are considered top-tier.

that sucks but...meh, like i said i have to play what i like regardless of shortcomings.

i havent seen anything about tierlists for ssf4 so if the chars i picked are low tier, its by chance. just as in mk the chars i picked were high tier by chance.

i mean, akuma/ryu/ken are all too common to face, gouken is just another version of them...if multiple chars have teh exact same moves i find myself not wanting to use them.

I didnt know fadc meant to focus cancel, yes i use supermeter for that, tho not hte super special. i dont even like xrays lol, but ya ultra...i use it when i need to, tho for dan ill use his taunt special just cuz.

im on 22 for hakan on trials, i may be a bit spoiled from mk9 but when a jump kick, to standing punch, to special is considered a advanced combo in ssf4 where its considered a partial combo and easy as hell in mk9.

seruosly im still on mp,lp,lp *oil up i know* just cuz it seems like its a 2-3 frame window which is so hard its kinda retarded...ill learn it, ill get used to it, but ill still think its retarded in the end.

what im getting at is where 3 hits is a combo for ssf4, its a string in mk9 where you can do 6-20 hits easy by comparison.

some people call that depth, i call it unnesiscarily complicated.

tho i agree ssf4 is more depth then mk9. the focus cancels are pretty nifty as well.

care to try and point me to a char to try out besides the low tiers? i went thru each one individually testing there normals/specials etc.

ryu/ken/akuma/oni/evil ryu/yang/yun/gouken are all solid no's from me as well as sakura and makoto

E.honda...meh..sumo isnt my thing

blanka-im gonna be completly honest, i even have a sf4 fight stick and these damn charge specials aggravate me, cool char in itself tho, he was what i used when i played the old sf game.

zangief-not as interseting as hakan and hes another grappler

guile-bleh

dhalism-entertaining but his jumps infuriate me

balrog-everytime i see this char i want to punch his teeth out, i think i hate him most

vega-again with the strange charge commands

sagat-ok, tho a bit used

bison-oh look more charge commands

-c. viper, almost picked her but i tend to not play chicks...personal preference really

rufus-take it back, this guy i hate most. balrog is second

el fuerte-hed probably be 4th string behind dudley, kinda entertaining

abel-possible, played with him, tho...he didnt feel particularly interesting either, a bit better then the avg

seth-no

cammy-distracted by thong all day

fei long- bruce lee blatant rip, im ok with that, just doesnt mean i want to play him

rose- meh

gen-i could tell hes def not beginner friendly, maybe someday if i get good

t. hawk, of the 3 grapplers hes my least fav, indians..meh dont like indians, i dont play nightwolf for a reason

dee jay...omg that face

guy-stupid nam, fun moves, possibility, very generic

cody-i dont get this guy

ibuki-im not playing naruto

adon-another possibility, tho he looks like SUCH a douchebag

juri-shes crazy, i like crazy, just not sure as her kick projectiles seem like they require a involved deeper gameplay

sorry for the long post, but figured id get it otu now.
