SPOILER ALERT:Mortal Kombat X DIGITAL COMIC DISCUSSION

The Mayan god aspect of him is such an awesome concept for a character.

Also, do people not remember that Armageddon was supposed to be where everyone dies and a clean slate for the next games to come? I don't get how people are so mad at NRS for doing what they said they were going to do almost 8 years ago.

Not wanting to derail the thread, but...
I remember when MK:Armageddon was supposed to be the "passing of the torch" game and the next one would be a reboot with new characters. Remember that? I was intrigued. I'm not saying that I didn't enjoy MK9, but I thought that... uh, well, it's like they decided to have another game with the old characters not only to please the fans but to kill them all just for shock value and then bring some of them back in the next game. It's almost as if they're afraid of trying something entirely new, does anyone else notice it? I was intrigued by the original idea for the game that was to be released after MK:A. Alas, it seems that they decided it would be best to please fans and keep the old cycle of "dying/returning/dying/returning" instead of pushing the series forward.

I don't remember that at all. I remember reading about an article in Gameinformer about Armageddon where Ed Boon said it was going to be the last MK game ever. This was probably when they got wind that Midway was going under. So they created an anthology game that brought everybody back for a finale of death. Then they found out that they'd still be able to make MK games and realized that they just destroyed the entire MK mythos with one game.

They had no choice but to reboot.

I actually never thought about that. You're probably right cause that makes a lot of sense.

Nah, son. @1:00

I find this hilarious, considering the fact that you can barley even type in English.

His chances are not any lower though. You still haven't explained why Kano looks different in the comic then he does in MKX. And why Frost had a new design if she isn't in the game. Is it because it contradicts your whole character design theory?

Why do you always try and make fun of people brains?
Well, now i will teach you again something... logic isn't the use of a different language... but look you've also learnt something different, the meaning of fallacy... it's when you try to argue with someone, but you can't debate properly so you attack his defects or characteristics...
That's why i keep talking about your brain, because it's clear you don't know how to use it...
Now answering your language question, tell me Mr. Linguist, do you speak perfect some foreign language? Because i would love to argue with you in a different language. If you can talk so many languages and so good, i would like to see how you never make mistakes... teach me master...
I will offer 3 options, if you can, but if it's a different language of the ones i wrote, i will apologize properly if i can prove the things you write are right... there you go

However, I'm not saying my English is perfect, and i apologize to everyone... but at least i can understand perfectly, and can communicate here... but if this forum were in my mother tongue i won't be discriminating people... but that's just another proof of your brilliant brain

I can't find the interview unfortunately. But I distinctly remember that. I had the article cut out and taped to my wall for years.

Ed really said on the interview that Armageddon was to set up for the next gen.

And at the time I remember about being the last of PS2 era.

But sure there was also a rumour, I can't remember where I read it, that Armageddon was the last of MK.

I remember cause I got desperate :laugh:

And more desperate when I saw MK vs DCU: I though "man, now MK became a guest game?".

MK9 saved it. And look at this MKX...badass.

They did had plans for MK8 to be a fresh new start with Sub-Zero, Scorpion, Raiden and a few other characters returning while they plan to give us a lot of new characters. I remember Midway saying that MK8 was going to be a dark, gritty and scary looking MK game. We end up getting MK vs. DCU instead. MKX does feel like the original MK8 game that Midway wanted to make and never did.

Rebooting the series after Armageddon was a smart choice. They had no where to go with the story with everyone dead, rebooting the series from the start can allow you introduced the series to a bigger audience and bring back older fans who stop caring about the series years ago. MK9 made Mortal Kombat mainstream again. I still remember the days when most people on the web called MK as "the franchise that should have died after the 90's" next to other franchises.

This.
All of this.
Armageddon was planned as their last game, hence why they resorted to MKvsDC (an original story) and why MK9 HAD to be a reboot.

On top of all of that, the MK8 reboot game was actually supposed to be what ended up being MK9 (a reboot) but with more of an MKX look to it, but it turned out to be MKvsDC.
MKvsDC seemed to be more of a resume game for WB to buy Midway out.
I find it TOO coincidental that MKvsDC came out, then WB bought out Midway, then they made MK9 and followed that up with an Injustice fighting game.
I don't believe in those kinds of coincidences.

As for Kotal Kahn, I'm thinking that he takes his chance of ruling while Outworld is in this civil war chaos, and later falls as Emperor, due to either Ferra / Torr or Kano (or both) later betraying him.
That's just my guess, though, based on MKX fight intros.

I have a feeling that Kotal Kahn is the Emperor Outworld deserves.

Imagine who else can be on the throne:

Reiko? Ruthless, brutal, allied with Shinnok; his idol is Shao Kahn, who bashed everyone and was a merging-realm-pervert;

Mileena? Cruel, envious; hates Kitana, has no motive to not start merging realms;

Shokans? Honorable and legendary race, but will bash Centaurs, as for these, the contrary;

Tarkatans? Seriously, no way...;

Kotal Kahn is the new hope! Since he is not a dictator and a merging realm pervert, everything will be fine.

Since the Black Dragon vs. Red Dragon battle is supposed to happen then I wonder if Kira and Kobra end up joining the Black Dragon or not in the new timeline. Kano could have hire new members after MK9. I won't be surprise if everyone in the Red and Black Dragon gets killed off expect for Kano and Daegon. Daegon will likely end up escaping so he could return in the future.

It is weird how the best and most successful MK games have always been the 2d type games, even with technology advancing through the 3d era, its like it has gone through a complete cycle.

Yep. I remember that too. I distinctly remember someone describing it as 'dark, gritty and scary looking'. I was really looking forward to that. Which is why the original MK:Rebirth trailer excited me. Something fresh and different. Don't get me wrong. I loved MK9.. But man, that Rebirth trailer had me convinced it was just a promo for the upcoming game. If anyone remembers, the Rebirth trailer was released right before E3 2010 (where we were pretty sure that we were going to get an MK announcement).
