I'm also kinda miffed that we still haven't gotten any closure about Shujinko yet. Kittlesen basically confirmed that we would at some point but didn't specify when.

Pretty much. Just to tie up another loose end in the lore. Good writing isn't retconning, it's going back and doing just that, tying up loose ends to smooth out the story for better things.

MK and NRS HAVE that potential for good narrative now more than ever and it would just kill me inside if they resort to drastic retconning cause they couldn't come up with a way to get rid of a character so they just erase him from the lore entirely.

I'm glad Daegon still exists and can't wait to see what they do to kill him off.
 
Yeah I wouldn't be surprised if Hotaru is revealed in the comics and is shown to support Kotal, after all it looks like Kotal wants order and peace. Would be nice to see, considering Hotaru was a major dickface in MK:D.

I´m really really sad for Havik, I thought he was the post mk4 char with the bigger chances (but Maybe Li Mei would be the only one).
Even if some of you still don´t believe it, the costumes are everything for confirming or deconfirming a char....
I mean, your argument of Subby wearing a past costume is dead now, (It´s his new alternate) and Kano´s now wearing his MKX costume.... Mileena is wearing her new comic costume, Jhony too... and they´ve gotten a proper confirmation today....
SO, neither Fujin, Mavado, Hsu Hao, Reiko nor Havik are in MKX..... (even if we have the last hope in the DLC), but yeah, it´s kinda sad..... (and this totally confirms Sonya!!!)

You're giving too much credit to the comics, pal. Do you think that if Reiko and/or Havik are sub-bosses or even the final boss they would just give it away like that?

When Ed Boon mentioned a surprise that no one would see coming, as much as I expect it to be one of these guys (there's absolutely NO ONE that we can't see coming with some thoughts given - unless it's Meat or Mokap and of course that would be a joke), I think that they'll at least keep the doubt in the air until the game is out. And if they want to make people be in doubt until it's out, they'll have to cover up the obvious stuff like the comics. So far everyone's like "ZOMG NEW COSTUME" and of course NRS is aware of it, there's absolutely no way they would throw Reiko or Havik in there with a new costume if they want to keep us in doubt about their in-game status. Mileena and Cage are minor reveals compared to the final boss.

The bottom line is: we still don't know who the final boss will be and/or the sub-bosses. We have guesses, possibilities, but the final word? Nop. It could be anyone as of now, be it Onaga, Shinnok or "Super God" versions of these characters and others like Reiko and Havik. At the very least I'm expecting NRS to keep the real deal a secret until the game's out, even if it's a disappointing reveal (if you're expecting something truly awesome, I reckon you'll be disappointed - what big surprise could it be, really? we know the entire MK lore by now).

It would be perfectly fine with me if we don't ever hear from the Red Dragon again after MKX. I never cared for them, just kill the whole faction. Daegon can stay though, he is fine.

I remember the Injustice comic show off Regime Superman before the game was released. Most people who plan to buy MKX did not likely read the comic. It won't surprise me if most people read the MKX comics until after the game is out to avoid spoilers. Havik seems like our big bad of the game since it looks like he is the one controlling the demon blood going by the latest comic book spoilers. Havik is a character that no one would see coming since most of us was expecting Liu Kang. Most long time fans will be surprise to see Havik back as a boss since he has not been in a game since the PS2/Xbox/Gamecube days. Most new MK fans that started with MK9 only know of him from Noob's ending.
 
Only hardcore MK fans expect Liu Kang to be the final boss. To the masses, it'd be a huge surprise.
And Havik is wearing his MKA costume. Expect him to die in a horrifying way. Hopefully by his own hand so as to keep in character.
 
I hope Reiko makes the cut because I feel sorry for you guys.my boy made it in I could care less about the rest of the reveals .

Well, I'm not familiar with Injustice - did they also hype the final boss as being a "surprise returning character that no one will see coming"? That was the point on which I based my opinion around: there was at least this one situation where the "big bad" was sort of hyped. If they are trying to keep it a surprise, I seriously don't think they'll throw it for free in a comic, at least not until the game's out (remember: the comic will keep going after the game is released). Even though some people may not read it, it's still out there for people to read and spoil the experience for others, and surely they wouldn't want that if it's supposed to be a surprise for hardcore fans?

Unless it was just a bunch of hype BS for casual players. I don't doubt it, really.
 
Havik is by far the most interesting character in Mortal Kombat.

Evil is evil, and Good is just boring, but chaos is everywhere and more destructive than any good or evil.

Love the teamplay of Reiko and Havik, mix in some Rain and Tanya and i'm set.
