Kintaro has always looked so incredibly ugly with that cat-face they gave him. If NRS thinks of bringing another of those Tigrar Shokans into the picture, they seriously need to do something about those faces.

She attacked Sonya without provocation, literally five seconds after Kotal finished asking Sonya for help and Sonya turned him down. Does that sound like the behavior of somebody who's on the level to you?

Now, in all fairness, his early sketches were more of a feline character. I think they tried to incorporate it somehow into the final idea of the character so as not to stray too far from their first sketch. And it's not like he has to be beautiful, right? There you have it: ugly cat-face is a feature of that race! Goro isn't much "cute" either. :P

Seeing more of the Tigrars would be nice, anyway.

I fully understend her quest to Outworld, her daughter has been kidnapped and she wants to rescue her for all the costs. I don't imagine any other reaction of her.

You make some valid points about D'Vorah, everyone should be careful of her, but on the other side didn't she learn from the past that other realms can be really dangerous? And when a powerful Outworld emperor like Kotal proposes an alliance, it's quite obvious that the threat is really serious, for Earthrealm also. As a military officer, she should be wise and consider things in advance, not only stuff that is happening right now. Cause if now is ok and great, doesn't mean the peace will last forever, especially when there is strong evidence that the situation isn't so colorful.

if you wanted to talk about Goro, you didn't need to quote me. You quoting me was just to get me riled up and debate some more.

First of all, don't tell me "you're better then that.". You don't know anything about me. So don't go there.

Next, I never "threw a fit". I asked you why you were quoting a post from an argument that was not only over and done with, but was 7 pages ago! It was done with. Then I said to please use PM if you really wish to discus this with me. Because at this point, i'm beating a dead horse and i'm sick of it.

You decided not to use PM and instead, try and get me to argue with you in the thread. Why is that? Is it because it isn't worth arguing if everybody else can't see it? Because you want everybody to see you call me out? Because you wanted everybody to think your better then me?

I asked you to PM me, and you didn't. I even went the extra mile and PM'd you. If me not wanting to debate with you got you so upset that you had to write all that. Then maybe you should "take a walk and clear your head".

Anyway, i'm not going to bother with the rest of your post. it's more or less the same stuff. Trying to act better then me.

There re two kinds of ugly when it comes to monstrous characters. There's the ugly-ugly which is the one you don't want, and then there's the cool-ugly which is the kind I think NRS is striving for in all their monstrous characters. Kintaro is ugly-ugly, imo.

Agreed, I can't stand kintaro's look. Or Sheeva's for that matter. I think Goro looks awesome but those two could use some work imo.

Fair enough, I understand what you mean. In an ideal game world you have to make characters "cool-ugly". I think it would be nice to keep things on the realistic side for MKX, though. Like, for instance, Reptile: I agree that his past designs were awful, but that's because they were wacky and not exactly ugly. I enjoy that he's one ugly MF this game - that's how I see him, at least. Not the best of designs, but surely better than some of the previous ones they gave him. I wish we would see the same for other monster-like characters, with designs that leaned toward the realistic ugly races and less "cool monsters", causing certain disgust and discomfort in players. But that's just my opinion, of course!

Well, this makes sense to us because we've seen Kotal's backstory and we know that, as far as Outworld characters go, he's practically a saint. But you have to keep in mind that Sonya doesn't know any of that. Her introduction to Outworld was being kidnapped by Shao Kahn, then having Earthrealm invaded. After that, Earthrealm was again invaded by Netherrealm.

So she comes in, immediately sizes up D'Vorah as a backstabber, and thinks to herself: "Should I keep these dangerous outrealmers within our facility while listening to Kotal's story and trying to figure out which parts of it are self-serving bullshit and which parts are true? Or should I get them out of here ASAP, do my own research, and then act if the situation calls for it?" To me it comes down to: Sonya is military, military has strict rules, Kotal is asking her to break them on his word that he means well, and she has no reason to trust him. I think her attitude is perfectly justifiable.

Obviously the real problem is that after spending all of MK9 with her, we still don't know anything about her.

Wouldn't call her a "snake." That implies that she's likely to be a traitor. She hasn't exhibited any behavior that makes it seem like she'd betray Kotal. In fact, her reaction to Sonya turning her back on Kotal is the exact opposite. #thisonehappilydiesfortheemperor

Still not sure what the "This one" thing is all about but yeah, you get the point.

HEY! You leave Kintaro's kitty face alone! I LOVED his face. I just want to squish him and snuggle my face into his fur.



On the topic of Goro, I would like to see how the heck he gets his arms back. Sure not EVERYTHING needs an explanation but, seeing how we clearly didn't see how he managed to get new dentures, I'd like to see how he gets new arms.

Heh, maybe all of his variations has his four arms looking completely different. Who knows?

Everything you say seems reasonable. However, it's been 15 years since the Netherrealm war and we actually don't know if the Earth warriors are still being informed by Raiden on what's happening in Outworld or are living on their own and enjoy the days of peace and don't care for the rest. If they know nothing, Sonya's reaction seems to be accurate, she has no reason to trust Kotal. If they know that still something's in the air, her own investigation about the situation is the safest solution, but takes a bit more time. But her response could make Kotal disappointed and angry and make him think there's no way Earthrealm could align with Outworld, despite the common threat approaching.

Sonya has all motives to kick Outworld's door and point her gun to everybody, she is a mother and her kid is there.

She is a survivor of a tournament who the enemy was Outworld, she entered on the realm and her superior got his arms destroyed, she had her homeland invaded by Outworlders and their minions, was beated by the Empress of Outworld and almost everybody died and the then Emperor wanted to konquer all.

The new people asked for help, she considers Kotal Kahn as disputed Emperor, his right hand attacks her from behind and then the other is the suspect number one of her daughter's disappearance.

She has a lot of reson.

But as [MENTION=18661]p.W[/MENTION] said, she doesnt know what we know about Kotal to think that he is innocent.

I called her a snake, not Starscream! :P

She might be fanatically loyal to Kotal, but as far as everybody else in the universe is concerned, she's a duplicitous piece of work.

And I say this with the obvious caveat that we have literally one scene of characterization to work with for D'Vorah. But my main point is about Sonya, anyway. She saw something in D'Vorah, and it turns out she was right. Kotal is tainted in Sonya's eyes simply by association.

Sonya better get the hell out of dodge before Kotal has time to recover and conjure some more of that blood magic. Her blonde ass better get hipped to what happened to Goro and Rain.
